OF, have you been drinking the acetone?Not so your liver, it's pretty rough on it. Many of us recommend Single Malt for assaults on the liver.....
IMO, while Acetone is a useful solvent, best left in the can unless absolutely necessary. Here it's not. I sure would not recommend buying a can, using a few tablespoons and having the rest around. Even if you have a paint locker to store it. There are, I think, much better alternatives in most cases.

I thought it would evaporate pretty quick. For very bad cases, I wouldn't be afraid to dip in Acetone for a few minutes then cleaning the outside with a rag and the inside with a q-tip. I would wait about 24 hours before using it.
I can smell it on the wood when it's still there and then later I can't smell it at all.
But here's my catch-phrase: to each his own...
