Can someone convince me to finally get a vapman?
Greetings, well I would take advantage of the sale going on...I purchased my first one and could not stop. One main reason is the high it gives me. I have all the other vapes around...the higher end ones. The Vapman gets me really stoned in very small amounts in the chamber. Also, they are tiny works of art and each one is completely different to look at. I hope you get one...and when you do give it some time. It does have a small learning curve that you will overcome. Anyway, as you can see there is always some innovative thing going on at INHALE...Cheers.

Is it normal for the Station to give really dark AVB? Tried it on 4 recently and the flower in the middle of the pan gets almost black on the underside while the rest is dark brownish.

Mine will get dark, especially with certain VMs. Even at 4 I can usually end up with fairly dark abv if I just keep roasting away til it's utterly spent. While it will often show some unevenness there's really only a big difference if I've stuffed the bowl and roasted it hard.

Do you feel like it's too aggressive at 4? have you tried lower?

How Soon Is Now?
i am not satisfied with my station. i don't see the vapman touching any side, sitting pretty neat on it but the heat seems not to come through. i get far better results with a torch and the station is sitting there barely used. i am a bit frustrated when reading you folks having these great results... and i have it on 7 btw.

any idea? maybe pictures could help for advice?

Try seating a Vapman on the station while you watch from above. Turn to the next slot, see how it looks, and one more time. If you go around a couple times you may notice a spot where it gets a little closer to the wall, whether you can see it touch or not (I could never seen any vapman actually touch the wall, to be clear. I'm not sure how they determined it as the problem but their explanation made instant sense based on the symptoms I was experiencing and their remedy worked perfectly). If you see something like that, try nudging the stand carefully in that direction about a millimeter. See if that helps.

The other possibility is a defect but I think actual defective units have been rare. Do you have access to another Vapman? If you can try one that fits better--even if you can't see it doing it--you may be able to determine that it's NOT the station malfunctioning if it heats that one well. Try a Swiss one if you can.

How is it that there is so many non functioning stations?

I would think they check them before shipping out or when they are made.

Is the metal pole in the station easily dislodged?
I'm not sure how they center them in the workshop but mine seemed pretty well tightened down. I guess it could have shifted during shipping.

I just measured and it looks like the black station has like a 1 or 2 millimeters larger ID. I think that would explain why mine behaved they way they did.

This feels like a giveaway. As my friend, @4everpushingaboulder suggested, it's probably an indicator. Probably bimetallic discs.

reading @Arawfish few lines, I wondered what parameter could hinder use by a larger number of people and I thought that few joint smokers had a torch lighter... on the other hand they all have an ordinary lighter, like a Bic.

so in the guessing game, according to this clue, I vote for modifying the bowl so that it can be used with an ordinary lighter... but I have no idea what modification that would imply then, it's just speculation!!! and I would still be surprised!

if it's an indicator... I don't agree with the fact that it's what was missing to bring the Vapman into another dimension... but I understand the interest...
I personally wouldn't see much interest in it!

I like this surprise in any case!!

Ok thanks, good to know that at least the dark AVB is normal. The black underside of the AVB is puzzling though as it happens even with lose packing and on dial 4. I will try out even lower temps further but it feels like my station is just generally running too hot :\

Do you lift up th Vapman when the LED turns green as supposed?

Sure, I try to get the Vapman away the moment it turns green...

Simply the best vape out there. :2c:
Maybe it's not about being the best. Without doubt it is an incredible well thought-out design that stood the test of time. It almost never breaks, it's a lifetime investment. There aren't really other vapes that I know of with such a strong fan base, not in numbers but in the way we appreciate this device. Using the Vapman can be a very special ritual that somehow connects you with other users. And, at least that's my experience, it's a helpful and welcoming community. It's always hard to tell when you're in it, but as far as I know, we aren't a cult, yet.:)

It sounds like it may be running hot. Mine gets dark but not black for sure.

hmmm. Maybe you should adjust your stand a little closer to the wall. ; )

Seriously, if you can't find a good roasting zone it sounds like it needs fixed. I'm not sure that you can combust in a properly-calibrated one, but do you think you can in yours?

I think everyone has shared true aspects of the vapman.
In my opinion it's the best at his own thing, that is a unique microdosing session. With long draws and almost no visible vapor, it's unbeaten in terms of efficiency and flavor. Additionally, once you get the hang of how to heat the pan, the session has a really mindful twist to it, it's relaxing in a different way that's hard to find in other vapes.
Of course if you want big clouds and heavy hitting highs it's not the best out there.
Excels with concentrates. Can be a bit tricky to keep clean. Not cheap, but high quality design and assembly.
Unparalleled community sharing opinions, thoughts and tips.

I don’t get this “no visible vapor” thing. I’ve always gotten nice clouds? Not Tinymight level of clouds but clouds all the same.

One of René's first development sketches actually included the idea of using Bic lighters.
(somewhere in the forum here there was a picture of this sketch)

The disadvantages quickly became apparent during the test:
The energy is far too low, i.e. the heating time is far too long, and the Bic produces a lot of soot on the heated surface.
These two major disadvantages led to the jet lighters, which are ideal for this job.
