I dig it....

Yall should make a way to easily fit in it a 14 or 18 joing. just blast away with the torch and take fat rips.

might try to do that with station now, wil report back if successful

edit: Realized i had all necessary parts around... here goes nothing. will try with a torch as the station/

edit: draw was too respcticted for my liking but some may love this setup i also got hiccups

@ShinyMoonz I never used nor do I know tung oil, it supposed to be similar to boiled linseed oil and a good oil for protecting woods. I also learned that it is slightly toxic and therefore not food grade. I would definitely not use it on the mouthpiece (I don't treat mouthpieces at all), but may be on the adapter, if needed.
What about bee wax? Smells good and is water repellent. I know @MOJO uses bee wax mixed with jojoba oil.

I wish you success and luck when making the custom made wood parts!

Yep. I use a home made mixture of organic Jojoba Oil and Beeswax.

Research showed that Jojoba Oil is preferred by fine woodworkers because it never goes rancid. Wood turners use it for food bowls because of this.

My home made wax smells awesome too!

I wouldn't use anything store-bought in a can. If you read the ingredients, it has Tons of nasty stuff you can't even pronounce...

I haven't tried Carnauba wax yet. I'd like to find a good organic source tough. Manufacturers add so much chemical crap to these waxes it's crazy.

I bought some Johnson Wax for a table and after opening the can smelling it, I literally threw it away. Yuck!

So I made a batch of Beeswax and Coconut Oil for the table, because Jojoba Oil is way too expensive for something that large.

I believe EdTnT sells wax tins on his website. And you just gotta trust anything Ed sells...

Then by all means do so. You can buy the raw wax (mechanical extraction from dried palm IIRC), I have some somewhere, kind of a 'yellowish, off white' color IIRC. It's often diluted down by beeswax enough to keep it from being brittle in thick coats and then dissolved in a solvent so it can be applied. That's the solvent you smell (Naphtha and Turpentine?), you're supposed to let it evaporate off and the wax to get hard before use........like removing the Butane from BHO before you use it?

Your call, but I see nothing to fear in solvents that have left the scene. If you do, it's easy to mix up some with a solvent you're comfortable with or even get the pure wax in a block and 'rub it in' like is done in woodworking:

Hey, you can even buy the Vegan approved version, mix it with organically grown beeswax (no fertilizers or insecticides...) then thin it down with Pure Grain Alcohol..........

Awesome. Thanks for the links OF!

Edit: @OF, you think there's a difference between pure beeswax and carnauba? Is it worth the difference in price?

I can confirm!

My special tow-toned and tattooed yew-VM (a.y.s. in my avatar) has a really wonderfull smell. I don't use it (I got 5 more VMs), for me it's a precious piece of artwork and it's much too beautiful to use it.
Ok, once I did.

And everey few months I take a nose out of the egg-container. ;)
Maybe it will be my VM, when I'm 64. :D

You're quite welcome, glad to help when I can.

I KNOW there's a HUGE difference between the two waxes from a Materials standpoint. Beeswax is extremely soft, usually considered too soft to make candles out of since they collapse at room temperature. It's used in cosmetics precisely because it's so soft. Carnauba, OTOH, is 'the Queen of Waxes', as hard as they come. You can roller skate on the stuff without leaving marks........

If you heat them (double boiler) you can blend the two to 'soften' the Carnauba a bit, but past a certain point that just means you have to reapply more often? I think the key here (aside from cosmetics) is long lasting and safe. And once you pass the 'safe to use here' gate, the longest lasting product seems to be the call to me.....leaves more time for enjoying your VM you know.

Carnauba is also used on dental floss I understand, which makes sense to me considering. It should be much superior to paraffin 'where the rubber meets the road'. Or should that be 'the floss meets the teeth'?

BTW you can get small cakes of BW in sewing and leather shops (used to lube up threads and needles) and some hardware stores (popular with old school types for saws and such). Carnauba sticks from woodworking shops and of course 'paste wax' in many places (including car parts stores). Be careful of auto waxes, they often contain stuff you don't want to be eating.

Also BTW, as I recall the world's sole source of this magic wax is one (fairly remote) part of Brazil. Not any old palm tree will work, only a single one, and it doesn't grow on no stinking tropical islands. Not all that much, a few thousand tons a year for the entire world? I hope the Zika thing doesn't get out of hand........

Great to see you man...long time!

Flame powered vapes have changed the game for me...buy all of them!

Yeah, great to see you, too, with your beautiful stealthy all-black VM! You charred it by yourself? I'm thinking about doing the same with my basic walnut...
Sadly I'm too far away to order from @M0J0 , I would have bought the chocolate walnut or a two-tone (or even both) for sure!
Since my Mighty will be on his 4th RMA soon and the Crafty is just following right behind I'm enjoying the simplicity and reliability of the VM very much! I got my VM exactly one week ago and the crafty is still on his first charge, catching dust!
I guess I need a convection unit like the daisy in the very near future (and a vapcap just because... well... I guess most of you know VAS)
I was considering to buy the grasshopper this month but I guess it won't be better than the crafty in terms of battery life and reliability and so far I'm pretty impressed by the heavy hitting gas-powered egg.

The VM works best for me with traditional hashes ( mechanical extractions) , mostly between solid to creamy and sticky, bubbling but not totally melting down. Unbelievable tasty first few hits and with 1 or 2 stirrings I can drive this little guy just on the edge of combustion to fully finish a bowl.
The mild wooden walnut flavor matches the earthy and spicy hash flavor - with a slight undertone of charred wood just in my nose - so well, it gives me a unique experience. I can feel the magic happening now! (I vaped some temple nepalese, it might have had some influence on the magic).

Fine and dry herbs are working great, but the taste reminds me too much of the MFLB for my personal liking. I have to overfill and tamp the bowl for decent clouds which makes the filling process quite complicated. But it might just be the lack of some technique...

I had sadly no luck with carbon-based extracts yet. I tried some BHO and some winterized QWISO and got pretty unimpressive results. Only the middle section got saturated in oil. Perhaps I need to be more aggressive with the torch to achieve higher temperatures. When I'm heating the VM up I can see how the resin runs out the wood now... I'm appreciating any advice!?!

But so far I'm happy with my purchase. Nice work @vapman , all my compliments, you created a very unique piece of wood and filled it with love to spread the magic around the planet. This is the first vape with "personality" I own. Hand made from materials sourced by Mother Nature. Flame-powered, one of the oldest energy sources we use. I absolutely love the feeling of the warm wood coming alive in my hands when heating this beautiful thing up. It is so much fun I catched myself with the loaded vapman in my hands even if I was already too medicated to take one more single hit.

I guess we'll have a good time together, VM and me. But I need one of those SS rings to prevent the middle section from further charring due to the high temp use... And a cheaper source for high quality hashes, netherhash is quite expensive. VM with me in Chefchaouen, a dream would come true!

Edit: I guess the MFLB is handmade, too, which was one of my first vapes to be true. But I don't think it had a soul like the vapman has!

Beeswax mixed with food-grade mineral oil is a good option and can be found at Home Depot.
Isn't this the same as Ed's Bomb Ass Butter?
I'm thinking of picking some of that up because I want to give the Vapman a bit more pop, as well as my Milaana (but that wood is...meh)...

It's a tough decision on waxes, but if Bomb Ass Butter is well known here now, I'd happily just purchase that.

I've heard good things about it. Can't go wrong with Hawaiian Beeswax.

@Gourmet, I am humbled by your comments on the Yew two-tone tattooed vapman.

That vapman is beautiful, and it's the only Yew of its kind for now.

I haven't made another Yew like it yet.

I'm going to have to make one for myself one day!

I'm so glad you love it as much as I did making it.

If anyone knows why my cat keeps stealing my god damn Vapman someone please tell me. I can't just keep buying them every time my cat steals one.

The answer is, because cats are assholes!

I've been lurking here way too long but finally, by the end of this month I am pulling the trigger and getting one. With the station if they are still available. Can't wait!

Catnip is very close to weed plantwise it seems. They even and smell alike sometimes. I knew some folks that went nuts in a new rental house in Oakland when they found huge bags of what they thought was the common 'low grade bush' of the day. Sold a lot at $10/lid..... a LOT. Then they noticed the new catnip crop sprouting up in the back yard.......and asked......the prior tenants had been harvesting it with the abandoned idea of starting a catnip business.

I had a cat that got into my stash once, a nearly fatal flaw. The others over the years seemed less interested.

Catnip and birdseed is also a common 'street buy scam', or at least was in the day. A 'quick check' often didn't expose the fraud and some poor High School kid on loses his lunch money on Telegraph Avenue again. Sometimes guys would enjoy a joint or two before finding out.......and I bet some never did? If you expect to get off, you usually will. "Contact High" not withstanding.

Short answer, I bet it's the smell. You might try an old sock with some catnip inside (tied shut of course), I bet he'd prefer it....... At least over a VM.

Perhaps some catnip put into the egg? Kinda like the toy capsule..

That's really obscure.. my apologies. lol

So, Vapman and I are perfectly in sync lately. Two flavour hits then clouds until the herb is nearly done, when it slows down, and if the mood strikes, a 5 second hit or two of the slightly popcorn stuff. All easily controlled and with much less concentration than originally required. I have a few different options for herbs now, and Vapman shows off the different flavours wonderfully.

It was a little bit harsh when I sneezed instead of exhaled a big cloudy hit today, but I can't really blame Vapman for that. Felt like it was coming out my ears and eyes too! Oh. But the dishes got done, I'm still married for another day, and all because VM made my aching back go away. Again. :) Good night.

Was it maybe in contact with valerian drops?

That's a real magnet for cats and can even be in higher dosage dangerous for them.
It's strange, we humens use it as a natural calming and the cats go nuts with it.

It could also be, that you have a stoner cat and she is collecting vapmans and vape them secretly. :D

Damn I was so wrong, with dry herbs I was to shy with the heat at the beginning of the session and to aggressive on the last few hits (explained the charred MFLB flavor towards the end of the bowl). Now I just preheat longer and let the terpenes from the invisible first hits mix in the bowl with the following dense clouds. This way I can only get 6-10 good hits from a bowl depending on flame size but they are very good tasting and can easily keep up with other conduction vapes, taste- and cloudwise.

Tried some BHO again and preheated until the VM nearly catched fire and had a very dab-like hit from such a little device! I'll use the vapman as "mobile oil rig" now and order a new middle section just in case.
I found the concentrate screens are working the best if they sandwich the load like already suggested somewhere in this thread.

I have to thank the user, too, which had the idea to poke a hole through regular SS screens and use them with hash, sadly I forgot your name but a big "thank you" from my part if you're ever reading this. The original VM screens are clogging really fast with the leftovers from solid hashes so I just use the coarse S&B screens with a whole in the middle. Great airflow, easy cleaning and they never clog!
Edit: thx @natural farmer

I'm reading this thread for about 6-7 months and I've learned a lot for our little friend (vapman).
Now I'm trying to get more answers so many friends are telling me that vapman is good but tastes like a wood. I don't know if it's true because I used to it so I can't feel any taste of wood.
Have anyone here tried to modify his/her vapman? I'm planning to make a middle section from metal just to test it and see if the taste is gonna be better or not.

I noticed a wood taste/smell initially too, but it went away after using it for a while. Now it smells only of herb. I wonder if I'm just use to it? Nah, when I linseed oil him up, I taste that for a couple of bowls, but it's not long until it too is gone. Perhaps it'll settle down for you after some time? I'm one of those odd people who actually like the smell of wood. :uhoh: :p

Howdy, welcome to the Forum, hope to see more of your posts.

I think they can definitely 'taste' of wood when new, is this the case? Once properly 'broken in' condensate (AKA 'reclaim') coats the wood blocking any contact so it goes to 'tasting of concentrate'.

By all means experiment with the little fellow, but you might want to rethink the metal idea. Unless you''re very careful it's likely to become a 'heat sink' to the top the load (the part against the thin SS screen) and prevent vaporization? Perhaps Teflon? Perhaps no big deal. But then again, I didn't consider the wood to ba a big deal........

Good luck with it.

I noticed a slightly woody taste when on both of my vapmans when they were knew but knock a couple grams thru it and you won't have the faintest scent of wood. Trust us!

Still looking for the bottom half of my vapman, who knows, maybe i will have to buy a 3rd one sooner than expected. Darn it! darn it all to heck!

My poor vapman station is sitting here getting no love becaue i refuse to take the backup vapman out of my backpack

Yes, definitely! I think this symbol, may be around 50mm (2 inches) large, will look good on a white or black t-shirt. I have to t-shirts with a nice cut.

@Michel Thank you for the compliments! Think of vapman as a cooking pan, it is up to you, how and what you cook. The possibilities are endless, your skills and imagination are the only limits!:)
