Discontinued Vapexhale Petra (Upgraded Evo?)

I placed my order and dig the changes! It definitely looks bigger but it also looks safer. I think this could be one of the safest heavies on the market with competition from just a few. The stability improvements are welcome and better support medical use.

I understand wanting more but from a performance standpoint it's hard to improve the EVO so it really comes down to features and usability enhancements. Being able to keep assembly and quality control in the United States says a lot about their values and should be considered in the cost. I know not everyone is willing to pay for that but I sure am.

The new CEO, Ricardo, seems very genuine and I have always had love for Vapexhale so it was an easy decision for me to support.

All valid points

Introducing the Petra:

At around 10-15 seconds in, Ricardo says "...this is a great device that we decided that we wanted to make a few months ago".
I would like to think there was a fuckton of R&D carried out prior to this & it was actually only the public release which they decided to go ahead with a few months ago . . . .

I can't say I've ever desired a bigger desktop device but I can see the advantages for some and I'm certainly interested to see & hear what's-what once people get their hands on it.

Natural EVOlution or genetic engineering? Either way, my EVO monkey still feels pretty safe for now, chilling up in the canopy.

Yes I'd think it's been in development longer or he would not be able to demo that very expensive prototype. We all know there is a lot that goes into these decisions behind the scenes and my guess is some compromises needed to be made in order to launch anything at all. If you are a current EVO owner you probably aren't going to spring unless you are an avid collector like me and want to support. However if you are in the market for a heavy this looks like it could be a fine consideration.

And yeah I never yearned for anything bigger either but dammit if the design isn't intriguing to me! I love your graphic btw, hilarious and great to see you around brother.

I haven't been here in a reaaaally long time - good to see a bunch of recognizable usernames from the old days, almost a decade ago, getting all hyped for our Vapexhale EAGLE! I saw this product in my email inbox and thought to look over here.

My 2 opinions to contribute from a preliminary examination are: a) It'd be cool if there were more color options for the handles; some might prefer those big 'ol legs to blend in with black or such. b) They should be detachable (add tiny almost bump-sized legs on the bottom?) so it's an option to have a super based (kek) version or a slimmed down one for tight spaces; many with less room on their computer desk or such would appreciate that. It's.... interesting. In the video it looked comically huge to me. So yeah, detachable legs would be a nice versatility feature.

It's not for me. I'm still satisfied with my original EVO and this doesn't really solve any gaps/issues I've had with it. I've got layers of the silicone VXL wristbands - glow in dark & black - going up my EVO like a bumble-bee and it slightly keeps my hand warm which I like. When I grow 2 extra arms I will consider buying this one tho.

Couldn't agree more......the Petra seems like nothing more than the EVOs better looking brother. Can't really tell right? Can still buy an EVO though.

Not long ago I received a couple emails regarding some type of business/lifestyle "coaching" from Seibo Shen that I never signed up for and immediately unsubscribed from.

Just to be clear....I love my EVO and respect Seibo for what he has accomplished but I never had the urge to get anything Hanu, wasn't interested in any coaching and without more info I don't get "why" the Petra.
I haven't been tuned in lately.

Is Seibo still involved with Hanu/VXL? Or did he sell the company?

I don't know what the financial arrangement was, but clearly for all practical purposes Vapexhale exists now in name only.

There are many people who have been loyal to VXL out of their warm feelings for Seibo and the vision he brought to the vape industry. Many here know I have been one of Seibo/VXL's most staunch supporters from the very first. Personally speaking, I wish him all the happiness as he pursues an entirely new chapter in his life with his consulting business and moving his family closer to nature.

But Seibo is not running the store any longer. Folks might want to noodle on that a bit, reflect on the Hanu quote below, and maybe browse the first several months of posts in the EVO thread, before putting out a lot of cash on an "if". At the least, it's fair to ask what happens if there are only 250 pre-orders, not the 500 - what's the plan, then?

The Petra is the beginning of the next generation of Hanu Labs (Vapexhale) technology . . . I'm going to ask for your help with the final push! We need your help!

A presale of 500 units will ensure we can get the product released in December. There are a lot of costs associated with a device release . . . We need this final push to make it happen now!

As far as the Petra as a product, I just don't see it. This version of "bold" strikes me as garish and brutish. It solves problems I don't have, and adds no real value to what I do have. Still, I wish for Hanu's success if for no other reason that I may need my EVO to be serviced some time. And no doubt Ricardo and Colleen are very nice folks. But while I kicked the big bucks for Seibo in the Indiegogo campaign that delivered the EVO, I won't do the same for little more than an insurance policy against Hanu going bust.

That thing looks redonkulous ... It would be nice if they thought about using digital temp for real temp control ...

:D It will happen one day, but looking at the current step up in pricing for minor "improvements" it would probably double the price :D...

Aside for the obvious safety/stability improvements, I think the Petra is aimed more at the "wow factor center piece halo vape" category. Something to have on the coffee table or whatnot, like a volcano. Something to catch the eye in a smoke shop.

Yeah in that regard, I've warmed up to this design aesthetically myself, I mean personally I did not care for the Evo's black monolith much, as opposed to say the LSV's appearance, for another large vape example... So this Petra form is better looking to me, although maybe not quite even Volcano level per se? Solid (except for the more potentially proprietary glass connection-- actually I preferred using a whip connection instead of inverting my Evo, that should still be possible here??) though I'm not very interested, for me, small desktops are preferable (unless it is ceramics from Collyland, but that is all in one with the water piece vape etc and the mini is pretty small!) Anyway regardless I am looking forward to see these in the wild someday :2c::peace:

Those names are silly though, "Sherbet" is the red orange pink we've seen, "Kush" is going to be purple it seems? And "Speed Yellow" lol does not fit in at all... Why not "Kush Purple" bc Kush on its own does not say purple at all the way Sherbet says pinkish orange, and the other one literally says Yellow... hahaha sorry this isn't important at all, but I thought it was worth calling out! I will say that it's nice they are offering different color options and I think the purple will look really great too! :2c:

I would have liked to have seen more technical information on the actual changes. From watching the video and reading the release, the only real performance improvement I can see is possibly better cooling out the top, and better stability with the legs. I don't buy the "increased" airflow claim.
While I respect that they are making a push for something better, asking double the price of the existing without a much better information release is a little disappointing.

I just ordered the Petra. About a month ago I shattered the bamboo stem in my cloud EVO by pouring ISO in it when it was still hot (lol I know) but I was gonna order a new unit and saw they released an updated one. Right now they are having a pre order deal which makes the starter kit just has much as the old one.

They say it will ship on or before December 10th so there is a good possibility early orders may arrive sooner.

Looks like I’m late to the party. I’m interested in seeing the new model once produced.

Incidentally “ticker” unit #49 is still running strong. Both my fanatic and standard evos quit working long ago.
Cleaning the EVO wasn't exactly the easiest thing in the world either which prompted me to be a little impatient in the method but I digress. I am hoping that the Petra will be much more straight forward to clean because no matter how small of a glob I'd put in the EVO and used the cleaning method after every hit it would always eventually get clogged to the point of virtually no airflow.

I'm having a hard time understanding why you would need to do that??? the evo unit requires no maintenance, only the baskets and concentrate nails need attention. your not putting dabs in the bamboo without a nail are you?

Neither, and multiple have also had this issue. Run off occurs inside the bamboo stem with heavy use.
