Discontinued VapeXhale Cloud

Here are some pics:
What is really important to me is performance. I have had a learning curve with every vape I own except maybe the Solo (retired.) My first experience with the Cloud was mixed. I followed the instructions and put the nob at the 12'oclock position and let it warm up until the light was green. About 5 minutes? Used my usual grind like I would for a log vape and loaded about 1/3 of the EZ Bowl. I got a couple of whispy hits but the taste was amazing. No more hits so I turned the knob up to the 2 O'clock position and got another whispy hit. The ABV was a light tan with some green bits. I would have gotten 5-6 dense hits and dark ABV from the same amount/grind with my Underdog or HI.

So---Big question for experienced users:

Does the VXL need heat up time past the green light to be at "full" vaping potential? Just curious because the instructions said 12 O'Clock was about 400F and that is about as high temp as I want to go.

Thanks for the pics (I am actually pretty stoked about the SGW, it is my fav of the "available" designs, more volume) and for the in-depth first-impressions. I am really looking forward to dialing in on the right combo of load amount/temp setting. Two more nights til I get my cloud, but my general vape experience tells me that your AVB color should be your guide.

Shit, I tore the box open, turned it on and the second the light turned green I took a rip, tasted perfect. Ymmv.

Congrats! Though, I note that was post "666" for you. Seems only fitting you name your Cloud "Damian."

Kidding!! Enjoy your VXC!! I'm totally jealous.

That just happened...
So if my cloud is to cold it won't start heating. I turn it on and the light goes 4 times red 2 times green then repeats but never heats. It has to be below 50* for this to happen so not exactly freezing. If I bring the cloud inside and allow it to warm up it starts fine.

Now sometimes it does the 4 red 2 green and will heat but the lights never stop the red green cycle. I have to let it heat then cycle the power and it will then go to solid green.

These things only happen if the unit is cold starting.

I let mine heat up for about ten minutes (at 12) then I insert the ELB for about 2 minutes to get the herb up to temp and then...IT'S MAGIC TIME!!! :p I also turn the heat down to about 9:30 to start my session. I have also found that I need to fill the ELB to about half full to get a really good session (IME that is about two EQ elbow loads) my wife can join in on that same load and we are both satisfied for at least an hour :ninja: and we are by no means light weights...

This thing continues to amaze and please us (and as soon as we are allowed to do so) We will buy a second one to keep in my pelican case, always ready to hit the road!! ( I will have to leave my original cloud at home for the wife as she likes to use it as much as I do now...

^^^^^ insert ELB for about 2 minutes to get the herb up to temp?

Wait a sec, the herb gets warm just sitting in there? So conduction? I was under the impression that unless you hit it, the herbs won't vape? Or do you just mean kind of similar to an EQ bowl preheat?

Mine doesn't need any additional warming. When it's green it's go time.

But like with anything people develop their own techniques. I'm sure you'll develop your own unique pattern of usage as well.

Had my first session with my Cloud/SGW last night. Started out with some Neville Haze and before bed a nice hit of Purple Erkle. Smooth hits that when I exhaled resulted in surprisingly large clouds based on not really being able to detect the inhale like with my log vape. Very nice results! So flavorful. My cloud base and hydra tube both look excellent to me. After one session I am a satisfied customer. BTW, I am basically a lurker but wanted to thank everyone here for educating and discussing the Cloud to allow me to make an informed decision and it made using it the first time so easy. Fun stuff!

It's sorta similar to the EQ preheat. The glass joint gets a little warm and so a small amt of heat transfers to the ELB. Not remotely enough to cook the herb. It just adds a little warm-up to the herb to speed things up a bit to get the max on the first hit. But not at all necessary, just a preference thing.

. . . when I exhaled resulted in surprisingly large clouds based on not really being able to detect the inhale like with my log vape. . .

I still am working on this, er, challenge. The hits are so smooth even at noon that all I know is that I've inhaled as much as I can, I'm not quite sure how much I got until I exhale, and then I'm surprised. As was posted before, using ice adds even more to this effect making it easy to inhale more than you can actually handle. A damned nice problem to have, IMO.

Is restricting the airflow with your finger on the bottom of the glass tube common or does anyone find it necessary? Maybe it is more needed for smaller bowls?

Third session---Bowl a little less than 1/3 full, Cloud at 12, and a 15 minute heat up time. Very whispy, barely visible hits. I restrict about 90% of the airflow with my finger on the bottom of the glass tube and it become a dense cloud machine like in the videos. I was getting the performance I expected. THICK vapor and evenly browned ABV.

Could this be from small bowl size or could it indicate my Cloud is running cold? Could restricting the airflow potentially harm the unit? Or is the ability to control the air flow just a feature of the Cloud I wasn't aware of? (Being an idiot again...)

Sorry for all the questions but this vape has me a bit puzzled!

Jack have you tried running your unit around the max temp settings? Sometimes I will heat my unit to max then run a couple of ELB's @ max until the unit has warmed through.

While it seems that some people do restrict the airflow to alter temp, it doesn't seem to be necessary at all AFAIK. I would say it is either, is because of your bowl size, or it could be an indication that your unit is running cold. I would say either put in a support ticket, or wait for SM55 or one of the other VXC crew members to chime in!

Jack - sorry to hear about your unit. We'll look out for your ticket and get you taken care of. When you get your new unit, you will not need to restrict the bottom to get the vapor you desire. The only way I was able to get the Cloud to combust was when I was throttling the bottom so I do not recommend that as best practices for a properly functioning unit.

So I'll have had my unit for week as of tomorrow. Gotta say I'm still stoked on this thing and it performs beautifully!

It is exactly as I expected, it's warm to the touch but cannot burn you(so glad after MW and torch incidents..) Even as hot as the inner grey part is(that says hot!) it doesn't burn me if I accidentally tapped it. My unit heats up in a little over 5 minutes, haven't timed it so it may be more but It's faster than I'm used to for a plugin unit(tried DBV and MW). After the light turns green my unit produces thick clouds at noon position with any piece! Everytime I hit this I am super pleased with the experience. The bowls are very efficient, I usually pack mine only half way. The ABV always comes out perfectly brown every time, even at full temp!

I would like to give bits of criticism though. The screws get pretty hot when the unit has been on >1 hr, which makes sense for the heater to switch off for that case. But would be sweet if in the future the screws were incased or placed differently. Next thing is, when the ELB's are new they are very hard for me to A) open and B) pull out of the joint. I've been using scissors when I used a new ELB and it does break in within a bowl or two so I can use my fingers. But if there was somekind of way to pull it out easier that would be awesome. Then finally just keep working on the insulation of the body. As good as it is now, I know you guys at VXL can create something more efficient if given time!

I look forward to your future releases!

One of the strong-points of the Cloud IMO is the lack of necessary pre-heat (for the herb). One of my favorite things to do with the unit (and telling of its extraction capabilities) is load the ELB and take a hit immediately after (a few seconds at most). IMO this seems to be the best way to optimize/savor the flavor. Obviously this is all personal preference, just wanted to note how nice that first hit is with as little "pre-heat" as possible. :tc:

sounds to me like you should start a support ticket and talk with vxc support. I have never needed air restriction to get performance. Airflow is key with a convection vaporizer. The more the better. I cut my medicine up with scissors and loosely put about half to full elb and get cloudy exhales at 9 oclock. I am a low temp vaporist and I am used to taking a few extra pulls for complete extraction. Could your medicine be a little moist? Do you get a buzz at all?

It works, but only with about 90% air restriction. I just tried it at full blast and 10 minute heat up time. It required air restriction to get any visible vapor.

I guess I will put in a support ticket.

they suggested a credit card but I have never had a problem pulling the elb out of the gong joint. I gets easier the more you "train it". I usually turn mine off when not in use so heat has not been a problem and the enclosure cools down pretty quickly when turned off IMO.
