^^^^^^^^^ Ya but for how long? You may be parting with it sooner than you think. Perhaps there is a bad batch of clouds out there.

Regardless, and i'm sure this is a shocker to some of you (oldie), but someone can have my preorder. I'm not going through what I did with the arizer solo again and being a beta tester for an expensive product. After so much time in development, beta testing, empty promises, numerous delays, and failed launches, i'm sorry I can't take this rate of defects on the launch. BS it's less than 4%.

I'm waiting it out for while until a general launch and I see a more consistent stream of problem free reviews. And we haven't even got to longevity yet... who knows if these things will crap out.

After a lot of testing I think I can say mine wasn't running too hot. Just my expectations of the lower temp vapor were obviously blown away and made me think it was running too hot because of that. I think I was so used to the EQ and having to have it up there on the dial (like 420-430 f) to get the kind of rips I want... with the cloud its 8-9 on the dial no more, then go up to 12 -1 if I feel like extracting the last little bit I can.

I tried it all the way cranked up, let it sit for like 5-10 mins and I still didn't combust...just absolutely dominated the herb in the elb and it was dark dark dark abv but no black/combustion.

On the heat note: If I put it on 12 or above and let it do its full heat cycle it will definitely get pretty hot to the touch, Its very easy to handle though when kept between 7 and 10 and is hardly hot when you take those first rips of a fresh 7 heat up.

If i come home and turn it on to 7 or 8 and let it heat up to green It still wont be very hot to touch but will be clouding like a champ, if I set it to 12 or above and do the same thing (let it sit and get to green) it will be significantly hotter but touching it by the bottom still helps. Anything above 3, letting it go green will definitely make it pretty darn hot but holding it by the bottom can help, wouldn't wanna hold onto it for too long though gets uncomfortable.

Yeah, there's a good question of how long the unit could last like this. I could go on at length about how 'putting up with it' would be less than ideal, but the short of it really is... I doubt anyone looking to get their unit serviced/replaced would be going longer than two weeks without their Cloud and I imagine very few existing owners don't have other vapes to use during that time period.

If they do work the kinks out and suddenly everything is all dandy, you'll be paying more money to order yours and during that entire span of time you waited you'd have gone without. I've enjoyed the time I've had my Cloud working and at the moment I'm inclined to believe that they'll be able to service these units as issues arise. It's when you start hearing about people getting their service requests /refused/ that I think people should start tearing up their pre-orders.

If you live in the US, the entire return process can take as little as 5 business days. If you are outside the US it can take longer due to international shipping. The international time varies dependent on your location.

@elmonuzz: It's not a matter of worrying, it's that I know for a fact I cannot trust others to be able to use the Cloud in this state. It's hard enough training folks on how to handle glass and my vapes with care, but adding 'Oh, this one might burn you sporadically' is simply too much to expect anyone to be able to handle. I also do not like having a unit that gets so incredibly hot when this issue crops up, I have to shut it off and wait a few hours before attempting to use it again. This is pretty unusable, it might be more usable for you.

Why will I be paying more money if I want for the general release? Is there a planned price hike from the $450 it is now??

I do agree with your latter point about the service requests, but I don't live in the US, and with UPS it's simply not even an option. In fact, waiting will probably only save me money if they start including normal shipping options.

+1 ^^^^ especially for some medicinal users, this is a deal breaker. I'm condifent they will improve the design over time (even in the near term) and add better insulation or something. Beta testers reported it getting warm, NOT uncomfortably hot.

Pre-orders are $350. Release is $450. Though yes, I'm afraid I didn't consider your shipping options. Apologies!

No worries dude, and only the first 100 preorders were $350, everything after was and is $450. There is no advantage to preordering other than getting your Cloud a little quicker.

I was order 281 and I paid $350, so I don't know where the cut-off point is on that. Anyway, regardless -- I still think you should go through with it and deal with problems if they arise. There's folks here posting who haven't had a single complaint, if anything consider the fact I'm order 281 and there's hardly been 281 owners reporting into this thread. The time you are most likely to hear about a product or service is when something goes wrong, so it only follows that you're going to hear all of the smaller issues that arise here.

Hi everyone - Just chiming in to voice my excitement for the Cloud. I'm a 10 year smoker looking to finally switch to vaporizing, and after researching on this forum I think the Cloud is the vape for me. I only pre-ordered a few days ago, though, so I've probably got a bit of a wait in store. Now I have to decide whether to just tough it out, or buy a cheaper vape to use in the meantime.

I apologize for the likely redundant question, but is there any estimated wait time to get a unit? Like 2 months? 6 months? Year +?

Thanks guys.

Congrats and welcome to the list of preorderers! I'm recently converted from smoking too, but I couldn't wait for the cloud and have a couple good vapes to hold me down until its time for me to order.

Not sure how long the wait will be. I imagine you won't be waiting as long as those who preordered in 2010. I preordered in early Feb. I'm just chillin with my other vapes until then.

I don't think the order numbers correlate to the preorder. The cutoff point was the first 100.

It's not like i'm ruling the Cloud out, far from... just don't think i'm going to buy it for a while, because i'm pretty confident there will be some behind the scenes changes (which we will never know) that will ultimately make a better product. I've waited this long, I can wait longer.

The cutoff point or the 350 point is somewhere between the first 500-600 preorders.

Of course it's not a shocker. Did you forgot that I suggested that you would probably want to do just that - precisely for the "can't take this" reason?

The 4% is not BS. There have been about a dozen actual Cloud/HT failures. About 300 shipped. Do the math. And the fact remains it's still within industry norms for a new product of this type.

You are right about this though: No one "knows if these things will crap out." But come to think of it, no one knows that about any brand new product, now do they? "Early adopters" take this risk - that's why they're called early adopters. The "Main street" majority of buyers wait until a product is more proven.

Each to his own. I don't see the need to be confrontational about it. Or for all the hand-wringing.

This is why I am taking your advice, since the "QC police" can't take it anymore.

Oh yeah, I just found out that the Dopefiend's cloud died after 2 months :(

I mentioned it either in this thread or the previous thread and I'm sure someone said it was one of the beta units. Even though it failed, the Dopefiend was very impressed with it

Even on full blast for over an hour I'm able to grab my cloud on top. Yes, it's hot, but not painful. I've yet to see a situation where I need to let my cloud 'cool down for hours'.

elmomuzz

That just happened...
My order # was 304 but I got unit # 49. I'm betting I got the 49th unit shipped.

Even blazing hot my cloud cools to ambient temp in under an hour.
