Do you find the taste affected at all with your short hose? I do a similar setup as this when using my herbalizer and can't notice anything. I've never thought to try this with the EVO because I don't have the nail.
I'm in a sharing mood this morning, so what the hell...

My experience is my own, but when I starting migrating to a vape-only lifestyle, the EQ was one of my first stepping-stones. This is a heavy-hose-usage vape.

I noticed with less combustion activities the more I would start smelling the vape-only activities. At first, I was under the impression that even heavy vaping was virtually odor-less, BUT HOW WRONG I WAS! (I still get a chuckle about people asking this or assuming otherwise, but it's quite valid as it's hard to compare or notice when you're the one partaking -- if you leave it in the open, that hose is going to smell even after one use!)

The hose was a god-send for me for over a year. But it started getting smellier and smellier to me. I would clean it, and bought a good 50' length of good silicone hose so I could just start replacing it. More frequently and more frequently.

It's now that even a completely new fresh length "taints" the odor/taste for me. Before it was nothing, but I notice the taste and odor changes from even a small bit of clean hose being put in the air path. It's just a tiny bit and usually doesn't bug me, but now I'll steer clear of using a hose with tasty top-shelf strains, but I'll still pull the bulk buds through it with no regrets. However, I'm quite a snob.

Concentrates skew the game a bit just because the odor/taste is soo strong is overwhelms anything else, but it also makes that length of hose completely unusable for flower for me.

I've noticed the hose thing applies to whatever vape I pair it with, as it's the presence of the hose that impacts that aspect of the experience rather than the vape to which it is connected. This started as a non-factor for me and slowly grew into a factor as I changed sliding to a vape-only lifestyle. At this point, the convenience still overrides the nuisance in most cases.

Other vape-only fiends and friends report it as a non-factor, so it's going to be a personal sensitivity, which may or may not change for an individual. Yet others are very sensitive and can't stand even a "clean" hose smell, but it doesn't seem common (Google for "chemical sensitivities").

For cleaning, my best results came when I would plug an end, put a few drops of Dawn liquid soap and fill the rest of the tube with hot water, cap the other end and let soak held down by weight in a pool of hot water. After, I would rinse, run a bit of ISO to fully clean any soap residue, re-rinse and let dry. This would have let me use a length for decades before I grew more sensitive, but I can still get a few runs before I replace it now.

I keep the still-usable hose lengths in individual seal-able big sammich plastic bags after cleaning, and those in an old cookie tin I've lined with plastic wrap. There may be just a whiff of scent that still lingers, but it'd have to be a sensitive nose hovering directly over it.

I'd like to add, I only use hose with concentrates, in combination with non Hydratubes. I can't stand the taste of the hose with flowers. Even brand new unused silicone hose. I taste it with flowers, but all concentrates I've used over powered the taste to non-existent. Funny i started with a Solo and EQ as well. Now even if i pull out the EQ I use it with an all glass setup no tube or bag!

Hmm I wonder if the PV sold ones are different quality, I really like mine and it seems very high quality. That being said I too am a bit of a vape snob with high end strains and would probably not use the whip- just because I like the full flavor and I feel like you don't get the same nice extraction as a GonG regular connection.

On another note I have been loving the VXC more every day since I've had it. It just gets better and better, gonna have to scoop a nail addon when PV gets them back in. How much do people think the herb is toasted just sitting in the heater? I find that it heats much less than nearly every other vape on the herb chamber until I start pulling which I really love- wondering if thats everyone's experience. Also had a friend complete the challenge to ace a full ELB pack in one pull the other day so thats good haha. My new small local challenge among friends.

Opened a support ticket on 04/30 sending a unit in to get repaired.
Told them to ship the package to my job blindly.
Requested for an order to be put in the same box (save them some money on shipping)
and have them both sent to my place of employment shipped blindly.

This is the e-mail I received today. I need to get these guys on the phone ASAP. I tried the (484) 453-8236 number someone posted here earlier but I have been unable to get in touch with anyone.

Today 06/02 I get an e-mail saying they shipped it in two separate boxes, to my old address, AND they didn't ship it blind.

Now they rerouted the packages to my job however they are not shipped blind. I don't see how they could possibly think this is ok.

VapeXhale Customer Care replied:
Justin,

I am extremely sorry but you will be receiving two packages, one with the extra items you ordered and another with your repaired EVO with complimentary items.

Furthermore, we apologize that both packages were going to your old address. It must be that this is the address that is saved in our system and I am not aware of being notified of shipping to a different address until just now.

I went on to USPS.com and intercepted the packages to be rerouted to the new address, unfortunately it is not possible to ship blindly at this point.

Sincerely sorry for the inconveniences.

Best regards,

Jeff
Warm Regar

I am happy to say the ticket has been resolved in a great manner! I will be doing business again with Vapexhale. The unit they sent me works flawlessly. Combusted at max temp where I used to only get clouds.

Now 12-1:30 is my range loving this thing!

EDIT: Kinda been waiting for those quartz nails to go on sale only to find they have been sold out! I can't express how upset I am because I don't think two of those things are worth $100 but no one else has them!

Still waiting for a few conclusive reviews on these myself before I send off a Benjamin over the convenience of my enail! Quartz owners, sound off! ;)

I wish I could taste/smell as well as people in this forum. Sometimes I lose my taste all together after a few sessions. I can't tell the difference between vanilla and chocolate ice cream. It is very strange and I think related to allergies. The positive is that when I get the munchies I just quit eating since I can hardly taste. The texture us still amazing though sigh.

If the regular all glass ones don't crack then the flavor would be similar or slightly less on the quartz. Glass provides the most flavor. But I'm not sure if any VXC Evo user has had their VXNail crack, if so then that would be when I would go quartz, but honestly as long as it isn't cracking from regular use they should be about equal based on my dabbing experience with enails and others. Quartz retains heat better though so maybe it might change due to convection. Buuut that all being said since I would be worried about the nail possibly cracking (or maybe hear other members stories) at higher temps I might get a quartz if I were in the market, it's just that PlanetVape is slackin on their stock right now. (and i got a quartz enail setup :p) But the temptation is real to post up in the classifieds for one (glass, I haven't heard of member's VXNs cracking), I bet shipping to canada could be cheap with them only needing like an envelope. If I were to hazard a guess on why the glass VXNs are very durable, it would be that the glass is heated evenly versus the spot heating and cooling that occurs with a glass nail.

well guys it finally happened... my cloud malfunctioned tonight D: D:
I arrived home from work and turned the device on and let it heat soak for a good 40 minutes as i was playing a quick game of league of legends. When i toggled the device off i noticed the bamboo was glowing red hot. that amount of heat soaking has been common over the lifespan of the device.
I dont have any cracks in the bamboo as of yet but i am afraid to plug the thing back in. What do you think guys should i send it in for repairs? Or can a healthy evo do this?

I feel like the Evo is pretty shanty compared to its competition. 1 yr warranty is a huge red flag right away but I bought one anyway. Now just after a year of basically insulting people telling them how not to break my precious vaporizer when they use it, the bamboo is super loose. There is no way I should have to send this thing in for a yearly tightening at my expense. An EQ has a lifetime warranty and probably costs less to buy than repairing my EVO.

It sucks because this thing really rips but I cant keep dumping $$ into this company. $700 was a huge investment (for me) for the initial kit and I had hoped it would last me a lifetime.

I had a totally random combustion somewhat incident similar to this. I set it to about 2 o' clock, let it heat soak for 30 or 40 minutes, as I usually do. I did not notice any particular glowing like you did.

I took a hit and was immediately assaulted with the familiar odor and taste of combustion (though it wasn't really that awful). I took the bowl out and felt a ton of heat radiating from the device, much more than it normally should be at 2 o' clock. I put my hand pretty high over it and it was the hottest I'd ever felt it. Couldn't even touch my finger to the part covered by the wristbands. My apartment wasn't hot or even really warm that day.

I stopped using it and tried again the next day, and it was totally fine. It's never happened again, and I haven't had any other issues before or after. I did swap out the power cable with another one I had lying around, just on the off chance a faulty cable was the culprit, but I have no idea if that had any effect.

Don't freak out because of red glow, that is totally normal at higher temps.
When the dial is high enough, the heater has to work hard to keep the bamboo hot enough.
It even gets red hot at times - the temp ontrol algorithms turn the heater on and off repeatedly so the bamboo get to the right temp, when the heater is on, it can glow, but it doesn't mean it's overheating. When you set it on max and turn it off right when the LED goes green - you could even see an orange glow. Still normal, at the peak of heat-up the heater glows brightest.
When the unit gets heat soaked, the glow gets dimmer as the heater doesn!t have to work so hard anymore to keep it hot.
But when you take a big hit, you could see the heater glowing again right after that.

The real overheat has to be much more seriou than just seeing a glow inside - when the unit REALLY overheat, the whole bamboo get very bright.
Even the joint on top would glow orange-yellow from all angles (the glow not coming from inside but from all the glass).

This is normal - taken right at the moment when the unit went green on max temp and turned off.
If you know when it turns green and turn it off few second before than you could catch an even brighter glow.
The heater does that for faster heatup - it heats bright hot and then stops before reaching green - the remaining heat will heat up the bamboo just enough to reach the green. And if your unit sometimes overshoots the reight temp - its because of this behaviour.
M8anWvY.jpg

This is a real overheat - notice hot is is a lot brighter even in a more lit photo.
notice the bright orange ring around? thats the glow from the ground finish - sign that the bamboo itself is glowing.
The molten Zytel plastic is also a sure sign that its a real overheat.

Salazar's story actually sounds like an actual overheat. Getting combustion on hard hit and not being able to touch wristbands at all is a sign of a real overheat.

Speaking of faulty cables my buddy bought an Evo about 3 months ago and the IEC receptacle (power cord jack) is extremely loose to the point the cable slips out if some sort of force isnt applied to keep it in, its been that way since he got it.
Of course he could send it back at his expense but then why did he pay $450 for it? To help them out with r&d?

This is a problem that a) I have never heard of and b) should have been caught on any kind of rudimentary quality check at the factory.
Its unbelievable for a "top of the line" product to be this shoddy.

Mine is the exact opposite. It takes a lot of wiggling and pulling to get it out. I switched to a cable from my Sublimator and it fits perfectly so he might have a cable that's out of spec.

Turn your unit on, set it to max . Wait 20 min come back and set it to your desired temp (12-3) it should work awesome then!!

thanks for the tip, im getting some decent results now:tup:, still nothing like some of those youtube videos out there, maybe something to do with not using one of the hydatubes?

Why do you say low quality? I've been using this model since the first beta units were built (long before it became the EVO), and there's never been a hit I'd describe as low quality. Vapor 'quality' is a vague term that really has no meaning or definition, once you screen out aspects that don't really define quality, like 'vapor density', or 'vapor temp'. Good ratings on those issues can be found with even the most basic, homemade vaporizers. Not every vape will provide a large volume of vapor with a hit, but that's not a 'vapor quality' aspect either, but instead a quantity issue, usually due to the size of the vape-specifically the size of the vapor path and bowl.

Glad you're getting better results. As for youtube vids, it's possible that some you've seen are smoking demos and not vapor. Also, getting big cloudy hits is much easier with higher temps and lots of herb loaded. If I pack an elb pretty full and start vaping at the 2 o'clock position, I get considerably more dense vapor than if I'd started at 11 or 12, or if I'd just loaded a small amount of herb. As for using a hydratube vs. a bubbler (assuming that's what you mean), it'll be easier to 'cloud up' an HT, because it's smaller than most bubblers, but other than that, there's really no difference.

Not to mention a lot of YT videos have very carefuly set lighting that boosts the perceived density of vapor.
For example if you blow the vapor into a cone light in a dark room and look at it against the darkness, you would perceice very high density.
Set the temp high enough to be performing, hit it with above-average speed for as long as you can and judge the experience, not clouds.
Some hits can produce almost no visible exhale yet make you really baked and vice versa.

I was thinking the same thing @Seek
most of the time on vids they seem to always use a black background. I'll reiterate to all EVO owners Damn the exhaled clouds! It's wasted vapor!
Inhale, hold it in, exhale and disregard the visual output. HOW DO YOU FEEL?? DO YOU FEEL LIKE I DO?!??!? I only measure the EVO'S performance by my side effects. Leave the room you're in, go outside. I often find I'm more fucked up than Id presumed once I'm outside about to Do something!! Get high people stop chasing waterfalls and clouds!

It a lot more than a black background. I remember one Cloud video I've made called 222 (not on YT anymore) where I've tried successfully all of the techniques i know to enhance the visual of the exhale.
I've:
1) Hidden a cone light so it would lit the whole exhale but hidden completely from the camera
2) Make everyning in the camera frame black to make camera think its in dark and automaticaly rise its light sensitivity to maximum.
3) Preheated Cloud on max temp
4) An ELB 100% full od very dry, very fine ground and very potent herbs.
5) Taken the biggest possible hit (with exhale at beginning)
6) Exhaled SLOWLY and carefully into the camera frame AND the light cone at the same time, while oscilating the direction of exhale to fill as much of the camera frame with standing vapor as possible.

The exhale captured was INSANE, but in normal lighting same ones can be far less visible.

Even a small wispy hit from a portable can look way bigger in a good lighting than a huge cloud from a desktop in bad lighting.

Unfortunately it seems to be human nature. Not only is it somehow satisfying to exhale a big cloud of vapor, but if we can't feel a hit or see the vapor, we tend to think we're not getting results. It's not an issue for me with the EVO, but sometimes with a small portable (lower temp and/or small load), even though I know it's working, and still has herb in it yet to be vaped, I'll take a mouth hit and exhale where I can see it, just to reassure myself that I'm getting vapor. I tell myself 'of course you're getting vapor you idiot!', then later I'll do the same thing again.

I agree totally with you and @Seek completely. I find myself doing the same. I've never made a vid because i can't seem to show how awesome my life is going on a camera( cheap camera maybe) . Even awesome beautiful glass pieces i just want to show the beauty of I can never get a picture worthy of the beauty. I find myself doing foggy breath at times too. I got the MIGHTY yesterday and found myself doing the same thing. I know how to feel the tickle in my throat (:dog:) and tell I'm getting vapor
