TGIF! Sorry I've been a bit MIA but lots of travel, a birth of a new child, getting the international launches ready, etc etc.

We are currently building and testing the Australian models. There has been a short delay as one of our glass manufacturers changed the specs on a the outer diameter (the inner diameter remained the same) on the bamboo and resulted in EVOs that could be not be closed shut. We have notified the manufacturer and they are currently re-doing the bamboos for us at our previous spec. We are very excited and now it is back to work for me :) Making big moves for 2015 as we were chosen ArcView's Top Investment Opportunity a couple of weeks ago.

Thanks for the update SM,

So are the Australian Evo's also waiting for the new bamboos or are they good to go and simply being assembled?

Wow SM55, calling out the Volcano? I really had no idea that its heating element was prone to rust and oxidation over time.

Wow SM55, calling out the Volcano? I really had no idea that its heating element was prone to rust and oxidation over time.

As with a lot of things in the media, the quote was taken a bit out of context. I said that metal heaters can potentially rust and oxidize if moisture finds its way inside. They then asked me what vaporizer has a metal heater and I responded the Volcano. Now I know to be more careful when they ask me these questions.

Thanks for the update SM,

We are waiting for new bamboos to finish off the batch to Australian Vapes and they will distribute for us to our IGG customers. We did the same thing with Vapefiend and people already are getting their EVOs and undamaged this time!

Thanks SM55, typical media...doesn't surprise me. It's good to have you back here, I know you are very busy, but just curious if there have been any developments regarding the plastic burning odour when inverting the EVO on temps past 1:00? You mentioned drilling a hole in the bottom of the EVO to assist venting, but i'm sure that hasn't been implemented. I assume that this is a complete non-issue now?

I'm a bit of a noob - never used a bubbler with a vape before.
Which hydratube would people suggest is best? I have no idea about the difference in feel between them. Ideally i'd like something that doesn't release the vapour until I lift it off the base of the Evo, but I realise this may not exist!
any advice appreciated.

IMO, you probably can't go wrong with any of them. However, since you have no experience with the different types of percs, I would choose one of the following: HydraCirc, HydraTree, HydraBomb, HydraLine, Showercap (&/or their respected siblings. aka - the SideCirc will have a 'similar feel/performance' to a HydraCirc, as they each incorporate "Circ" percolators. The same goes for a "SideTree"). These single percolator tubes provide adequate diffusion, & minimal maintenance.

I'm gonna give you the same recommendation that SM55 gave me over 2 years ago -- go with the "Circ". :peace:

Hi all, I just yesterday got my international IGG Evo and to be perfectly honest. I'm a little underwhelmed. I mean its good, its hitting well and getting people really high. But I've been needing to set it on max to get that kind of vapor. Even at 3 on the dial I consider it not all that thick. The lower temps (12-1-ish) are good for flavour but aren't really putting out that boundless vapor I was expecting. I mean the herb I'm vaping is pretty good quality, its very crystally and potent. I know its kind of subjective but does anyone else think that sounds a bit off.
I've been following the cloud threads since before the release of the original cloud so I kinda' thought I'd be able to get this down relatively quickly and while this thing is leagues above my DBV I almost wish it would go hotter. Anyone else think this sounds a bit off?

I agree, I'm going to give it time though as haven't had a proper session yet.
Will report back

smokie,
This may or may not help. Turn the dial to 12 then toggle the switch fast a couple of times see if this rests the temps for you

Your experiences were similar to mine when I first tried it. Give it a good heat pre-soak, and dial it to about 2-3:00. Slow down your draw. It is more sensitive to draw than the original Cloud(+ too), where you could pull and rip as hard as you wanted. The EVO bamboo is more open, and if you just slow your pull speed down somewhat, you should GREATLY thicken up those clouds. If not, then perhaps it's running cool and you need a firmware tweak?

Thx for sharing Vapefiend's video review, certainly one the best I've seen. I noticed that in it they used HT's no longer avail from VXL here, and that Vapefiend's sales web page shows HT's to the left that he is not actually offering. Among those listed for sale, my personal choice would be the SSF Hydraline (I'm always pimping that piece here) because it's a great inline, allows ice, and has good backflow protection (backflow was a concern with the early HT's; Swagger improved the joint design and the most recent VXL branded HT's appear to have the best protective design yet). The Hydraline is shown in the video, too. My second choice would probably be the Hydrabomb, but I don't see that avail from Vapefiend. Among those he offers, behind the Hydraline I'd go for the Swagger Sidecirc. A circ is a good all-around perc; I prefer a circ over a tree. The showercap has more of a straight flow design, the least diffusion IIRC.

This question has come up quite a few times, especially by those who used the OG or Plus. As already mentioned by @biohacker , you want the unit to be fully heated up and your draw to be fairly slow and relaxed. (If your EVO whistles when you draw, you may be pulling too hard.) It can take a while to get one's technique nailed down. Another factor can be the HT. My HT's are free-flowing and so there is not a lot of vapor accumulation in the tube, but looks can be deceiving. Trying using a very small and loose load in the ELB, say a quarter. Good to remember that the EVO is not like vapes that "cook" the herb; it's all about extraction efficiency which the EVO does with comparatively less heat. This is why sometimes the ABV is not dark brown and yet, when checked using a different vape, the herb has clearly been fully extracted. Finally, a note about the dial: The heat range is not linear across the dial, it's more live a curve. The extraction is a function of the interaction between the amount of heat, the firmware algorithm, the diameter of the bamboo, the airflow, and the load. So it's kinda a different paradigm.

Now, this isn't to say that your unit may not be out of calibration - sometimes that happens. Just sayin' that many folks have found that once the subtleties are learned and one gets his/her technique down, all is well. :)

Sounds exactly like the international Clouds I've had, both worked well but only on the highest setting.

Notice in Vapefiends video he is using it on max most of the time. I hope more user reports confirm that the units are actually running at the right temp. Because it doesn't look like the one in Vapefiends video is to me, apart from when using the Vapexnail.

What does the ABV look like on max temp using a moderate draw speed and the ELB 1/3-1/2 full?

Using a fully heat soaked unit (20+ mins)

I'd love to read some more user experiences with the international Evos. The Cloud I'm still using has a 15-20 minute heat up time & sits at 3 o'clock in summer. In winter it's 30-40 minute heat up time & needs to be on high to get the same thick vapor & dark ABV. I like it so I accept this & just use it more in summer but I'd hope for more from the Evo.

My Evo was always heat soaked, I don't touch em for at least 30 min. Max temp Abv was always light, 1/3 full elb would be golden but usually vaped very evenly. Sometimes green specks but not always.

I could get a light chocolate colour but I had to pull on it more times than its worth, taste is gone at this point with very minimal vapor so not worth it. Basically id cache after 2 pulls max anything else was just scraping the barrel.

1/2 full seemed to work better and more pulls but abv colour still consistently light.

The cloud/evo taught me to accept golden abv as well extracted, I put it down to convection keeping it golden and no conduction toast but I always felt the EVo was still a bit too cool. Would have loved another 1/3 or so more on the dial to play with. Depending on strains the green specks would erk me and too many pulls taste like ass.

So yeah its extracted to a nice golden abv but sometimes I wanted more heat to play with. And its not very appealing to have it on max all the time even for flowers.

So just so I understand, you say the vape isn't hot enough but it makes your meds taste like "ass"? That seems counterintuitive to me but these international units might be different somehow.

I find a very soft pull until the load reaches the "give point" is best then you can ramp the hit up. Its pretty simple.

no Im saying sucking on an elb for more times than necessary taste like ass.

I was experimenting with abv colour and wanted to see if I could get it dark, you can but it's a waste of time.

The EVO doesn't produce dark ABV. This was discussed earlier, I believe... probably a hundred pages ago... anyway, as there is minimal conduction, mostly convection, the "browning" effect is missing. ABV is pretty spent while still yellowish/straw/tannish.

Go by how it hits, tastes, and medicates, not by what it looks like.

I am aware and I already acknowledged this. I have read the thread. Im happy with golden abv, we were talking about how hot int evo gets compared to the original cloud+.

Hi all just come on here to say I'm 100% happy with my intl evo (hope im not tempting fate)
Fast delivery from vapefiend, have had it since Friday with swagger side circ, original plastic smell went after a couple of hours.
And it has worked perfect since, would like the hydraline hydratube but vapefiend does not seem to be selling them separate cheers
