So I was rushing around and got called away: "Surly the wide base of my EFS doughnut will support the evo!" I thought, so I left the evo inverted in the tube. But it was on carpet, and when I got back it was lying down sideways, water pooling from the neck like blood from a crime victim.
"Oh my Jesus Christ Monkeyballs" I thought, but when I picked it back up I found that the ELB had absorbed and prevented water from flooding the hot bamboo! Lesson learned: don't be shy packing those ELB's! They saved my bamboo!

I am planning to purchase this in 2 months, but don't want to if the Quartz nails are always out of stock. I have been checking their website for several weeks and it's always sold out.
I have a question about the smaller hydratubes. I like the look, but does it perform the same?
I want to use with my own water pieces. If attached to silicone tubing, does it decrease the flavor? The huge selling point is the glass on glass.
Every time I ask about a home unit, evo is the first response followed by herbalizer.

I'm not surprised that the EVO and then the Herbie are the first responses.
If you have a short length of medical/food grade tubing, and you keep it clean or periodically replace it, probably not much effect unless you're one of the lucky folks with sensitive senses plus really good quality herb. I used a whip setup for a long time before the Cloud; can't see myself ever going back. YMMV.
Can you be more specific about the "smaller" HT's? Most are close to the same size overall.

trust me and make your own whip, they have cheap attachments on ebay and you can get some SSV tubing and it works amazing and the flavor isnt diminished that much. The whip they sell on the vapexhale site is extremely over priced, like seriously 60 bucks for a damn whip?

I know you're considering a Herbalizer too and IMO that would be even better suited to use with a whip. To me, the big deal with the EVO is GonG so there's nothing but glass and SS in the short air path. Since you can invert the EVO, it will work with most any water piece (adapter required for some of course).
My 3 month old EVO is getting checked over by VXL right now and when it's returned to me I'll be selling it. I find that it takes a good while for the core to heat up sufficiently for the kind of clouds I expect. In ¼ the time, my MiniVAP is already producing big clouds so I almost always reach for it when going direct to water piece or the instant-on Herbalizer if I'm in whip mode.
Don't get me wrong, I like the EVO and think it's a good vaporizer. It just hasn't found it's niche in my vape routine because I take fewer hits more often. I guess I need a vape that heats up faster than the EVO.

Make your own for sure. I made a $35 whip for my Herbalizer before I got an EVO but the same whip works for both.

They look really nice. The only part that I dislike on that matrix is the height of the perc. HT's should have them as tall as possible, not the other way around - even when there's that umbrella guard.
Just compare it to these 2 OG tubes - their percs are both at least 3 times taller from the top slits to the intake at the top:

I have the SideCar Matrix(Hydrabomb) and it works phenomenal. I have a Mobius Matrix Ion and the pull is remarkably on par. The slits in the Hydratube version are diagonal to throw the splash in the opposite direction of the mouthpiece. Even with Cranberry Extract the splash never reaches my lips. The female joint has a new recessed area to avoid joint lock. Overall this Hydrabomb isThey look really nice. The only part that I dislike on that matrix is the height of the perc. The angle of the slits to the mouthpiece is also good, but I've been talking the intake being not very high above the water level. So it could easily overflow down by blowing into it, or even stopping your hit or lifting the tube from a hydrafoot quickly, or just by tilting it. Yes, there is that umrella guard, but the bottom chamber should stay dry. For two reasons:
1) It gets messy and steamy - looks and tastes bad. Steam in your hit can make you cough badly.
2) When there's already water it can't catch more.
So the overflowing should really be a rare occurence by user's fault, should not happen regularly.
Both my tubes can overflow to the bottom if and only if someone blows into them.
How does this work? I know the male joint on Cloud is sligthly asymetrically ground so it doesn't easily lock and could be unlocked by rocking it back and forth. How does this work with a HT? If the same thing was done with the female joint, it could actually fit better and could lock easier.

There's a recessed area, a ring around the female joint that is there to prevent joint lock. I think some people won't like it because it eliminates that snug fit. It feels as if it doesn't fit properly. However through extensive testing I've concluded it prevents joint lock completely but it does make the pull have a less airtight feel. But still milks it white and really hits hard.

IGG Ice Pinch HT still going hard. I just got the VapeXhale brand whip adapter and its decent. Although the tubbing size doesn't match the nozzle on the HydraFoot 2.0 I have (non-swagger) it's good enough and better than my DIY job which had a really narrow tube stretched over.
It's just odd that the VX whip comes with a bunch of stuff and not all of it even fits the VX sold Hydrafoot
Regardless it's working great, and I've been going back to flowers recently to give concentrates a break, and man the flowers are doing me right, but I get stuck into the "just pack one more ELB" trap despite being medicated after 2 small ELBs, I end up doing 5 in a session because... "It's already warmed up.."
It's just odd that the VX whip comes with a bunch of stuff and not all of it even fits the VX sold Hydrafoot

Great setup (I use a Hydraline with ice atop my HF 2.0). The VXL chiller is fairly new and there have been only a few comments about it here. The VXL piece is more expensive than the 7th Floor vapor tamer; comparison? How long does the cold last?

Thanks! Unless you have the air blowing around in your freezer, I'd say it takes about 15 mins for the material in the glass to freeze. I like to shove it in the ice box. It then stays frozen for up to 20 minutes, depending on how long it was left to freeze in the first place. Usually I front load my sessions, using the Evo like a whip vape for a few little tasty hits until I take a big hit and clear. Until you reach the highest temps on the knob (past 80% I'd say), the chiller really works on cooling the hits down so that you can hold them as long as you want with no lung or throat irritation. The air is nicely cooled without being TOO cold and irritating. I can't provide a comparison since this is really my first water-focused vape setup (my previous ice experience was a RooR Lil' Sista icemaster) but it is very easy to use, fits snugly between the other two pieces and definitely keeps my hits cool in the time period I use it for. It comes with a glass mouthpiece if you want to bypass the water entirely and just get more cooled flavor. After my initial hits I like to just pop it back in the freezer until I'm going to use it again. I do recommend wiping the joints out real quick before putting in the freezer if there is a lot of water in there from the thaw. Just stops there from being any tiny ice blockages in the joint that keep you from stacking easily.
