Woah, disco evo. Mine will occasionally flicker for 2-3 seconds as it is just getting to temp but nothing like that.
I think the whistle of my new EVo is also slightly lower in pitch, but the main difference is the lower volume of that whistle. But I think it's just glass variance, other new EVOs could possibly whistle just like old ones
This is indeed new. The new EVO starts on green for about half a second. The old one also starts on green, but that green only blinks very fast, as it immediately turns red.
Probably some kind of startup protection, so it starts right every time. The immediate start of the old unit could be easily glitched.
So far my new EVO has NEVER overheated. But it's going into exception signal shutoffs quite often.
The regular auto shutoff timer on my unit is still missing.
When I try to run it for 2 hours, it's almost guaranteed to shut itself off at some time showing one of these 3 patterns:
-fast blinking green
-green only blinking 4 times into red and green simultaneously (this one is rarest)
-just solid red and green simultaneously. (about as frequent as the first one)
Maybe one of these is actually a shutoff timer and I just don't know the pattern.
The heater always shuts off at any of these glitches, so no overheat so far.
With this new one I can trust the LEDs.
When it's solid red - it's working it's way to the temp.
When it's solid green - good to go.
When it's a weird pattern - it's cold, needs restart.
The old one could show solid green or red and act crazy...
...or freeze at red but still maintain the temp.
That was not depandable at all.
So the new one is definitely better even when there still are some glitches.
But I'd like to know if I'm the only one experiencing this.
If yes, maybe I should try to get it replaced again.
If not, this can wait as I can use the unit and it's not likely to burn itself.
Now my evo flashing here and there durning session ...before the auto flashes and turn off on its own .. Something going on with it ... I haven't had this very long month or so .... very expensive product and already having issues .... even if customer is good .. you shouldn't be having issues this soon out of box ...My EVO developed a loose wire in the power input after maybe a month. $12 by FedEx ground (I'm in Maryland) and sent back to me without any shipping charge.
Just one data point
even if customer is good .. you shouldn't be having issues this soon out of box
Yeah I just don't want to be without it .. Don't have no other Vape so I would get stuck combusting ughIt happens to all products. Just RMA it back to them. I haven't had a problem since they fixed it and that's been quite some time.

I've been contemplating another device but I'm a little leery of getting two of these ..... although don't get me wrong I do like it ... just kind of hesitant with what's been going on ...This is why I own 2 EVO's
The EVO has very outstanding Flavor if it's a requirement?I've been contemplating another device but I'm a little leery of getting two of these ..... although don't get me wrong I do like it ... just kind of hesitant with what's been going on ...

My EVO is my friend?I bought a second one about a week after getting my first
So I´´ve had my Evo now for 3 weeks and tbh I´m still having a few issues with it.
I´m slowly making my way through this thread, I´m in Nov 2015 atm, so apologies if this has been said before.
My first issue is with the mouth piece on the simple stem mp. I was smoking a metal pipe for years before vaping, and then it was with portable vapes, so the idea of something which goes over my lips a little strange and I´m not really into it. The Prescision hydrabomb ht I got as well,is not so bad, as the mp has a smaller diameter.
So I decided to get a glass down pipe for a normal bong with a 18.8 female fitting ( so as too accept a glass bong head ) and hopefully I´ll have a long straight pipe which should cool the vapour enough. I got 2 lengths of down pipes, 12.5 cm and 17.5cm.
The other issue I´m having with the evo is extraction efficiancy. As I said I´ve been using a Crafty / Mighty for a couple of years and as I don´t use a grinder I find the elb´s a pain to load compared to the Mighty bowl.
For those of you unfamiliar with the Mighty the bowl is about 15mm diameter and 7.5 mm deep. This means I can just crumble my weed (.1-.15g) direct into the bowl without the need for a grinder and it works fine.
With the elb´s it´s impossible to simply crumble the weed in. I bought a little stainless steel funnel (solded/used for filling hipflasks) and that helps but I still need to use the dabbing tool to poke the weed down into the elb. I´ll hit it a few times at 12 then at 2 a couple more times after a stir. I´m not getting super thick clouds (similar to my Mighty) and taste wise sometimes better, but only sometimes.
I just really wish the evo had a wide flat bowl rather than a long thin one that should only be filled half full.
So I´d noticed that the screen for the Mighty fits directly on top of the Evo bamboo, whilst allowing you to fit the simple stem. I then noticed that the bong shop, where I got my down tube, was selling charcoal filters for bongs. These are for putting inbetween the glass bong head and the down pipe to "clean up" the dirty smoke, they have a female 18.8 joint then a small bowl to put the charcoal in, then a sieve ( I ordered glass 15mm ones ) , and then comes the male 18.8 which fits into the down pipe of the bong.
So If I load the bowl with weed instead of charcoal, (maybe I´ll have to get a spacer the bowl looks about the length of an elb) put another sieve on top of that and then put the evo on top of this I´ll get my bigger wider evo bowl. Not only that I´ll be able to see exactly whats going on in the bowl, and as the screens are glass (I have no idea what they look like or if the are a perfect 15mm) I´ll have a truly all glass pathway. Otherwise I´ll just use the Mighty screens.
If it works.
So the vapourisation will be taking place about 1 or 2 cm higher up on top of the bamboo instead of in it, maybe I´ll have to turn it up a bit more, other then that I see no problems unless I see I´ve made a fuck up when I get the glass pieces!
The annoying whistle I cured by covering the bottom of the bamboo with some thin, undyed organic cotton, my evo now runs silent and the draw resistance is totally acceptable.
I´ll update when I get my glass pieces, I can´t wait to get this the evo working how I want it.
@almost legal check out the ELB funnels at https://delta3dstudios.com for some tools. Crumble away. I like using nugs that I break apart after the first pull, stirred and tamped works for me for extraction. No grinding here.
I like a course grind then stir and get more stuff.@karec, @InhaleExhale and @ataxian cheers for the advice and tips.
I know I should really use a grinder to get the weed chopped up right it´s just I haven´t used one in over 25yrs I´m not going to start now. Tbh thick clouds aren´t so important as taste which is not so important as effect, and it´s doing pretty good there.
I think if I crumble the weed into the elb using the funnel with no tapping down I´m getting good taste very nice effect but the clouds aren´t the densest. When I take out the elb and give it a bit of a stir it kindof reduces down to about half full, and I´ll get another go or two on it. I can live with that and my new glass pieces come tomorrow so I can do some more testing.
I finished an elb on 5 (full) just now, one speck had burnt, the taste was also not so nice, but I wanted to see what would happen. I´ve an eu/uk version btw.
