Mt thoughts along with Hexi are similar but different in some ways. The knob thing, great idea - I've noticed on more than one occasion accidentally offsetting my temperature. Hexi - I heat mine up to full blast then turn back down to 11 o'clock. It will take about 10 minutes but once green IMO you get the full spectrum of flavor that we all look for. This will last anywhere between 3 and 5 hits based on the nug. At that point I nudge up to noon, maybe even 12:30 and continue there a for another 3 to 5 hits or until I start to see vapor degradation.

After that there's usually 1 or 2 more 3 o'clock hits left but honestly they taste like shit so I usually skip em.

As far as concentrates, I haven't used the EVO for straight sticky. I have however dipped a twig from my shake in oil and added it to my elb full of MJ. That worked extremely well as long as you pay attention and not let your elb's get all gunked up.

I think when compared to the OG cloud it's fucking night and day as far as design and build quality. When I hold the EVO I feel like it's legit. Not like the older ones that the joint's never met up right or the gongs weren't even or the bamboo stuck out too much. There's nice repetition here, joint's are clean, performance and quality have become uniform.

I think VXL has come a long way, I think there's room for improvement but for the most part the device is kick ass. Now, with that being said - I have an Herbalizer in route to me as we speak. I look forward to comparing production. In the past, nothing could touch the cloud IMO and currently the EVO is king of my hill.

The next few months are really going to be interesting.

Seems like a LOT of problems for a third edition of a vaporizer. I should have never given my friend my OG ticker it seems like.

Bottom line of those of you with evos so far for this short period, does it even seem like a reliable product anymore? After waiting several months and still not getting it, I'm beginning to wonder if I'd be better off selling it as a brand new unit and never firing it up whenever I may get it. I want to like it and enjoy it, but I have horrible anxiety about my daily unit failing. If this is going to be the kind of vape where I need to make use of the (IMO) short warranty, I really need to consider if it is worth the gamble or if I should just sell it. There aren't very many high end competitors with any similar options, but reliability is important to me.

Any input on this? It jusst still seems like its not ready. Just from what I've been reading. Looking for either reassurance, or info about if I should just sell it when it shows up BEFORE i use it and devalue it. I don't know what I'd even replace it with is the thing, but I need this unit to be problem free. The ticker seemed ROCK SOLID. Issues were few and far between. Then came the "quicker heating" cloud+ without ticker. Failures were more common.

I honestly feel like there are already more reports of issues with the evo, than there were reports of issues with the tickers during their whole lifespan while being sold. If that is the case its not a good sign. I know they will take care of issues (for a year I believe) but even then shipping it back and forth and being down and out while it is gone is not something I'm looking forward to after a several month delay getting it in the first place.

Again, I don't have one, I'm not trying to bash it, just trying to get a feeler about how people feel about this unit long term. I don't just want a great vape for a few months...I want one that will continue to serve my medical needs, and I want this to be that vape, but if the harsh truth is it is not ready to be that vape, I'd appreciate the heads up so I can make a difficult decision.
I never move it past 11 on the dial. Past 12 and it's taste awful and burns. Support ticket? Why bother, some can't seem to even get their original delivered. I feel my Cloud ( non ticking) was better . Is my unit under preforming? Idk, who can say, there doesn't seem to be a working standard. Everyone seems to have varying results. I still use it, still think it's a great vape. Some nights I do feel like getting my old cloud and packing the evo away. I had higher hopes, maybe next Gen will be the one. Recently got a new vape and IMO, all these companies need to up their game.

I think that these are all legitimate concerns but from our perspective things are going according to plan. We procured the services of a manufacturing consultant prior to this launch on what to expect and the best method to launch. Based on the feedback we've been getting in aggregate, we are doing better than we are supposed to be. As much as we would have liked to get it perfect on the first try, it is inevitable that a few bugs pop up especially with an expedited development process.

Just to put things in perspective, the OG Cloud (ticker) initially had about a 25% failure rate (heaters were turning to fiberglass if anyone remembers) before we moved to a different heater. The EVO has had a 4.7% defect rate thus far. Industry average is 2% so we are def trying to push that number down.

Just to be clear, there have been no blown heaters or any mechanical failure, the two issues we see right now are:

1. Non-linear temp dial. For the majority of users, this is a non issue but there are some folks where the entire powerband falls between one or two hash marks/hours on the dial. Most people just find their sweet spot and set it there but for those like @Amazingkaddycap where the power is overly concentrated in one area, we are happy to upgrade the firmware to get it functioning properly.

2. Crack bamboos. We recently expanded, hired more people, showed them how to assemble and test EVOs. Some of our heaters were wrapped a little bit too tightly around the bamboo and when the glass would expand during heat up time, it would crack against the pressure of the heater. This is easily solvable by simple wrapping the heater a little bit looser to give the glass a little more play.

As someone else said, please take a look at the majority of the reviews and make your own decision. In general for reviews (whether here or on Amazon or any other site), we know the most vocal people are those experiencing an issue. If you look at our reviews in aggregate, there is significantly more positive than negative. I'm not here to try and convince anyone one way or the other, just want to add some additional data points and allow people to make up their own mind on whether to purchase a product from us or not. Happy holidays everyone!

The cord is just a standard computer power cord, I found an old one that was nice and flexible. As long as it says 18 awg (gauge) and doesn't get warm I think you should be safe swapping cords :2c:

I think everyone would agree to that! TBH this is, far and away, the tastiest and most effective flower vape that I've owned, no doubt you did the community a great service by creating it!

Yes, to me it does.

I have used it daily since November 21st. I use it each weeknight for an hour or two, and on weekends it gets much more use. It has never skipped a beat, and performs exactly as it should.

Keep in mind that in the spirit of not clogging the thread, most people won't post unless they have new info. I'm sure there are many like myself who have been enjoying their perfectly working EVOs for quite some time, but didn't want to post just to say it works as it should. Unfortunately that leads to what looks like a lot of posts about issues, compared to not many reports of working units.

I would like to use this opportunity to say that mine works perfectly. I doubt I'm in the minority on this.

Same experience here. Have been been using it every day since I got it with no problems and not 1 combustion incident. I vape between 11-2. Lower temps for the first few flavorful hits and then slowly crank it up as the vapor diminishes. So far my EVO has been everything I expected it to be and has also exceeded my expectations. The extraction the EVO provides is very impressive.

Thanks again SM55 and VapeXhale crew for a great product.

Just to chime in, I'm on day three with the evo and have never used a cloud before. My daily drivers at home have been the sub and the ssv before this. I think that @Hexi & @mvapes have made some valid points and I'll add my limited experience with the evo as another perspective.

The evo works very well when dialed in, but the process of dialing it in can result in substandard hits, meaning my warm-up technique is still not perfected. Even though the avb is very dark I don't feel as medicated if I'm not getting fat clouds when this happens. When the evo is dialed in I can finish a full elb in 1-2 hits with decent clouds, but I can't get those type of clouds with the mini-elb method so far. This is a negative because economy is important to me, as my medicine is always more limited than I would prefer.

The evo isn't as efficient as the sublimator, which can extract the fattest clouds I have ever experienced from a .05g single-hit load. The effective warm-up times are about the same between the two devices, but the sub (with the aid of the kaw) is much more predictable from a cold start than the evo is. So it's kind of a double-whammy in favor of the sub if I'm going to compare the two devices from an efficiency perspective.

To take the above comparison a bit further, the cloud/evo reportedly gets much more predictable with a wemo cycling the power on and off repeatedly, while the sub works best with the timer override employed (which is rumored to be phased out in the next version). While these auto-shutoff protocols limit manufacturer liability by making the devices safer, this also means that they are interfering with the end user's enjoyment of both devices--so they should at least be user-defeatable in future versions imo.

The technique of milking an elb from the beginning to end with different kinds of hits reminds me of the ssv more than anything, with the main trade-off between the two units being that the ssv requires a whip, while the evo lets you hassle with an electrical cord instead. That makes the ssv less versatile with glass but again it was more predictable--because it was always on I knew exactly what to expect. It also made the ssv infinitely easier to medicate quickly with If I woke up in the middle of the night.

If it was not for the unpredictability of the evo on warm-up, I would say that economy of medicine is comparable between the evo and ssv. But there are reportedly one-hit techniques with the ssv that I have not tried that may be better than the mini-elb method with the evo, which as I said wasn't bad but wasn't great either from a cloud standpoint. With a wemo theoretically controlling the evo, I would say that economy is similar between the evo & ssv.

In the end it may depend on what the user prefers. If you're into fancy glass (who isn't!) and want the only thing interrupting your all-glass vapor path to be a metal screen, then the evo is the probably the best game in town. I think I would have to employ the wemo if I was to make the evo my daily driver, I can see why it was so popular with the cloud. While the evo is a lot of fun, the company seems first rate, and the case and swaggertube are both excellent, I could still see making a couple of improvements:

After making the auto-shutoff user-defeatable, the main change I would want to see is more precise temperature feedback, so we don't need a special protocol to enjoy it from a cold start. The green light simply isn't a reliable indicator for when the evo is ready to make clouds the way it's set up now, which makes leaving it on with the wemo required. It would be nice if this wasn't necessary.

A more trivial improvement may be a lighter weight, more flexible (spiral?) ac cord;
CNET-YYC1-48065.jpg

I noticed that (on mine at least) the ac plug doesn't seat properly into the evo's socket. The middle prong sticks out more than the others, so the cord connector doesn't seat firmly into the socket base. It still works, but seems prone to losing its electrical connection at times. Which is too bad, because my evo seems very well-made from a precision and quality standpoint otherwise, and this seems like a pretty easy detail to control. Does anybody else's cord seem to not seat quite right into their evo, or is it just mine?

A nice long version of the above cord may be just the ticket, but idk if it would fit better or worse in the socket. I may give it a try, and if so I will report back with the results.

edit: as an example of vxc's exceptional concern for the user's experience with the evo, @stonemonkey55 has already reached out and has offered me a firmware upgrade, which I wasn't sure I needed. But evidently my unit does seem to be performing a bit out of spec, so I will send it in when things settle down a bit.
Awesome support

Your info and comments are reassuring as always. I hope you don't think I'm a "hater" or anything. I love you guys. I just want the product to live up to the original ticker I owned. Thats really it. I appreciate the fact that you are honest about your failure rates, and open about WHAT is failing. I'll keep waiting patiently and I'll take the long journey with you SM. I know you will make it right if anything goes wrong. I just REALLY don't want anything else to go wrong lol.

Your vapes remind me of my Evo (the car). When everything is right I'm sitting there enjoying the power saying "this thing is the best ever so much power!!" but then when something breaks I'm enraged because I've had a taste of the power, and then I'm forced to settle while I repair or replace whatever broke haha.

I'm going to wait for my evo. Its good knowing that IF something is wrong it is likely going to be a firmware thing, and hopefully that will be fixed soon.

Seriously man, please don't think from my comments as of late that I'm hating on you or the product. I love you guys. I just do my best to avoid checking in here too often since I don't have one yet so its hard to say anything worth while, but then when I do I see some posts about cracked glass and firmware issues lol. Enough to get a dude worried for sure, but as usual you put it in perspective. I tend to be pickier than most on this site, so I just want to make sure the evo lives up to all the expectations when I finally get mine.

I really REALLY appreciate the response SM! Have yourself an excellent new year.

2014 the year of the Evo! (If you don't get me my evo in 2014...then I'm going to turn on you :p )

imho, people are over-thinking things with all of these turbo heat-up rituals . . . Just let the thing normalize at 1:00-1:30 and it acts very similar to the Cloud+. Where the EVO shines is how it vapes before everything gets heat saturated. Talk about tasty, tasty vapor with full spectrum effects. No need to rethink the ELB either. Just use the regular ones and EVO will extract everything fine . . .

So just my opinion, still loving my EVO, wouldn't change a thing . . . :)

It sounds to me like the doom and gloom has set in for you (and I am sorry that has happened, I know how it feels...). I personally would not jump the gun on this and presume that your unit will have trouble. If you look through, there are a decent number of people that have had issues, but when we compare to how many contributors there are to this thread, the number of issues is small. Then when you add to that thought that the number of contributors to this thread is a fraction of the actual units that are out in the wild, the failure rates are rather low.

Granted, this does not account for the fact that we cannot see failures outside of our community, but I for one have not been disappointed with my unit, so I am a glass half empty kind of guy...

For me, it is so easy to jump on the train going any which way. I try to remind myself that the happiest are generally quietly enjoying their happiness. The guys that are disappointed may not be many, but in many instances can create the roar of a crowd.

So I've long not been able to post on this forum, but now that I can, I can update that my cloud's heater blew out on me about a month and a half ago and I found that my warranty wasn't valid because I guess I forgot a step when registering it. Long story short they offered me the trade in, my question is how long should I realistically expect to wait? I can't really bear to invest in another vape, since i've got $350+ in my broken one already after 7 months use, so evo it is. No complaint in the product although. Best vape I've ever had, thickest vapor of anything i've ever hit before ( I own a volcano and a cera LL/EO, although these don't really have a place to compare), super clean, efficient when using a small piece, my 2000ml EHLE gets 2-3 good full milks before it gives out, but this also depends on bud. Is there anything new in the making like a oil bullet? The cera works reasonably well for oil, its a solid device and very rugged but I still wonder if I would have been happier with a cheaper $80-100 dab pen.

Yeah as those guys mentioned, my post overall was intended to be a glowing review. I haven't had combustion since, and have been doing the turbo heat up and then 'dial-in' to about 3:10 now. Was able to rip some nice milk while only blowing a few minor primer hits. Still working towards chocolate ABV with just a few rips.

I'll probably set up a FW upgrade at some point in the future. (when dialed up to 2:30 there is no vapor. So most of the range on the dial doesn't do much)

This is my dillema:

Do you guys think it's
helpful to wait on buying the Evo til there's more owner feedback and possible changes or
better to just pre-order one now?

If this was any other company I may say wait, but SM seems like a honest stand up guy. It was him in the indiegogo video that made me want to jump on board. They want to produce a killer product and make the consumer happy. Preorder with confidence, even tho I had issues with my cloud as had other(mainly user error in my case), I still felt good about the evo.

Helpful? Only if you like denying yourself vaping nirvana... :D

But the warranty is 1 year, I'd bet they can work out a really reliable evo way before then!

Does anyone know how much bamboo replacement is out of warranty?

We're here to fuck shit up.
I just got this piece in today from @PhotoRider after winning it in one of his amazing contests. A huge thank you goes out to him because this piece (with a little help from an angled adapter) works so well with the EVO. The hits are nice and smooth while retaining excellent flavor. This is a pretty large can and the EVO just milks the ever lovin shit out of it!

I also tried something a little different after reading what @stonemonkey55 said about the concentrates accessory putting the goodies closer to the heater. I tried another dab, but this time I smeared the dab on the very bottom of a regular ELB. I inverted the EVO, put the a ELB in, and placed the unit on the bubbler. I waited for 15 seconds and pulled hard. It still wasn't exactly what I wanted, but it worked much better. I think when the concentrates accessory is released it is going to be exactly what the doctor ordered. I can't wait.

With that said, I think that my EVO runs exactly how VXH was looking for these to run. It absolutely kicks ass with flowers and has a wide temperature range to do so. I'm not sure that they aimed for being able to do concentrates in it without the accessory, which is why the need for the accessory in the first place. Anyway, since I added the hash marks around my dial, it's easy to set it exactly where I want it and to keep it there incase of any accidental movement. I know that I want to start at 11:30, bump to 1:00, then bump to 2:30. It's my perfect regiment for 1/2 ELB and it gets me rocked every time.

Since I set up a schedule for my EVO through my WeMo, life is amazing! It's on and fully heated when I wake up, it's on and fully heated when I get home from work, and it shuts itself off when I want it to. I can disable any part of the schedule I want so that it's not on at times I don't need it to be, and that can be done anytime and anywhere.

Alright, that's reassuring. Thanks Kaddy and Joe. I'm gonna do it. Next question: should I order directly from VaoeXale's site or from a different site that offers a free Smokebuddy Jr? I know it has limited uses and doesn't kill it completely probably, but for free, it's worth a shot, maybe? What do you guys think?

EDIT: Also, this site allegedly offers a good deal on a 3 year warranty.

I'm very doubtful that the other site is legit - I don't think VXL has completed pre-orders, let alone started shipping to retail partners. If you post the link, we might be able to get a read on it. Or perhaps SM can clarify here.
