Love the Hydrahoneycomb I chose. It offers a bit more diffusion than the Turbine purportedly, but the taste is still wonderful. People also seem to love the Hydrabomb as well. Most people have said that you really can't go wrong.
How do you compare dabs off the evo vs. dabs from vb2?

Dabbing in the EVO is great for low temp hits with very small amounts of concentrate. I would do it a lot more, to tell you the truth, if it didn't necessitate so much more cleaning of the HT. I was really very surprised at the performance of the VXNail. It will serve admirably as a backup for dabbing or as an alternative experience.

The VB2 is much different. It vaporizes a little dab or a glob virtually instantly and leaves behind only a bit of residue that burns off very quickly. This is the ideal way to dab for me. You get instant thick, super-potent vapor that is so super smooth (assuming the concentrate is clean, of course) that I like to hit it dry for maximum taste.

So they are very different experiences, but both perform very well. The EVO should be very hard to beat for dual-purpose vaporizing.

I went with the Turbine because I noticed it's what the Vape Critic has out of the newer generation hydratubes :p

But I did a bunch of research before placing my order and noticed that you're right when you say you can't go wrong. The differences between them seem relatively minor and they all look to be great glass pieces. I'm not the biggest fan of super-smooth diffusion so it made the choice easy for me. I wish I could've demo'd them all before ordering, but if I love the evo enough I'm sure I'll get around to trying them all.

I'm excited to use the ELB's (ordered extra!). Coming from DBV, there's a lot of bowl-maintenance. So it will be nice to have 6 bowls pre-loaded for when my friends come over. I'm used to stirring in-between every single hit just to keep the taste fresh between our hits but that hopefully shouldn't be a problem anymore. I just wish I had multiple glass nails too, but I'm going to wait until I try the one it comes with before I decide how much I like it. I'm very happy with my oil rig and highly educated nail so I'll likely just focus on using it for flowers.

. . . I'm used to stirring in-between every single hit just to keep the taste fresh between our hits but that hopefully shouldn't be a problem anymore. . . .

If you prefer the very small amount load technique with the ELB (do a primer hit just to get the flow going, then 1 or 2 hits for huge clouds) definitely no stir required. If you prefer the VXL "recommended" load of about half an ELB, once the vapor is thin, pull the cap, do a quick stir, replace cap, and you'll probably get 1-2 more good hits.

Good question and answer! I think the Evo is the best dual purpose unit available, and it's dabbing is only surpassed by the VB2. I would suggest that oil heads think more about the VB2 and those who use both get the Evo.

I think Swagger line is not coming back.
It seeems like they've finished the transition to their own inhouse glass.
Which should be good for them, having the OG Cloud made externally was a disaster and having the hydratubes made externally also had some problems like waiting for batches or broken batches in transport.
But I sorta miss that age when they were collaborating, it was the golden age of HT variety and evolution.
The current ones are probably functionally near perfect.
They've got a very protective large overflow guard on the bottom.
They've got some advanceed percs not seen in HTs before.
These sidecar mouthpieces are probably very good for using them directly on the EVO.

...but they're all the same now except the percs inside. As they evolved, the variety has dimmished.
I'd like to see some new tubes and not just another classic sidecar with a different perc.
There's no reason why classic bent necks couldn't return. They have more height, less angle and less vapor visibility for user than sidecar, but they're still cool and imo better to top a hydrabase with them if it's on the ground.
The same thing applies to straight neck. Also ice-pinched HTs could return. I think they abandoned them because of risk of overflow, but with the current guards on the bottom that's no issue anymore.
And finally the HTs with a male joint on top. This is what I would love to see the most.
There were only 2 modular HTs for a short time and I have one and I still love it. It can enable me to build a 3-chamber bong with a hydrabase and one more hydratube. And I would get another one if available to make it 4.
I think they've abandoned them because of risk of these large structures falling and breaking, which I think is a true concern and I've already tipped it over and broken one piece.
But it's still worth it. Other glass also breaks easily if you drop it and it cannot awesomely assemble like legos.
Also I'd love to see a different dry mouthpiece designs.
The current one is good for hydrabase and modualr HT, but I actually think a small holed closed "cobra-like" mouthpiece would performs much better as an actual dry mouthpiece used alone.
The standard one has such a shape that it can easily burn my lips. The other one would buffer the heat inside my mouth without burning my lips:

So, I have finally taken the plunge, and needless to say...im impressed!

I have a rather sizable admission...I have never fucked combustion completely upto this point, mainly due to the massively discussed difference in effects, specifically the heavy body stone to aid sleep. After one day with this thing, I have not felt the need to roll up AT ALL. Which is unheard of for me...a bit of context...i usually force myself to vape through the day and my reward is a joint when I come in from work, then vape till my bedtime reward joint...not ideal but healthier than just blazing up left right and centre.

Thank you VXL team for such a brilliant tool.

I expect I will be here more often(now that I stand a chance at actually fucking combustion completely), so expect to hear from me alot more than usual guys, I got the bug

Cheers for all the tips from the regulars on this thread for helping me make the decision that hopefully sees me never looking back, we all appreciate your input and the time you spend.

I'm glad I got mine before the Swagger HT's were gone, and especially glad they sent the Double by mistake, as it's my favorite.

Wish I had a modular. And a recycler... In time... :)

I have a question, pretty general but maybe you guy's can help me out.

I'm kind of in the market for a "party" vape for lack of a better term. Something I can take out to a party while people are drinking, and get high on with minimal effort. Is this, a good choice in that regard?

All of my vapes have such small bowls/loads that it honestly is kind of a pain in the ass to vape everyone up, will be there all night. So I end up resorting to combustion, which is not something I'm trying to do either. (I'm talking like 6-10 people on average who would be partaking)

This seems like it could fit the bill, especially since you could preload those EZ fill bowls or whatever. Is that essentially similar to the "crucible" system on the Herbalaire?

I'm just having a hard time making a decision. The Cloud EVO appeals to me with its pure convection and its all glass pathway. If this was a vape I was soley using on my own, it would be no question as I prefer the all glass + convection; on the flipside, glass is easily broken by drunk people and this is a vape I intend to leave the house with more often than not. I don't really want to have to babysit when I take it out. I don't really want to have to keep reloading it for people. The Herbalaire was appealing to me in this regard because it seems like it would be pretty impossible for it to break + it holds a shit load.

Currently on a T-break for a job, so I have like a month to make my decision, just looking for some opinions to see if this thing can fit the bill with what I'm looking for.

Edit: Just saw on Stickstone's page that "A hit with groups!" so maybe this is what I am looking for after all lol.

I would have to say that this is not the ideal vape for taking to a party & passing around.

1. It's corded. That cord could get in the way, as you're tied to an outlet (or extension cord.) A bunch of drunk/high people & cords = broken vape.

2. If you're using glass, that's expensive to be passing around for much the same reasons.

There is the possibility of a cordless in the future, but it's not going to be here in a month.

Maybe it's just me being cautious & antisocial, but if I lay down several hundred on something I am avoiding sharing it with people who don't necessarily share my level of care (and who may not prescribe to my "you break it, you buy me a new one" policy.)

Just set it up on a desk somewhere and let people take hits from it rather than pass it around IMO. I'd imagine a smaller party of friends (under a dozen people) could certainly be doable but I wouldn't doubt that the Volcano or any bag-vape is probably better suited for this sort of thing. If you show people how to use it and they treat it with respect, it shouldn't be a problem.

Of course I'm just speculating - curious to hear if anyone here as broken theirs at a party.

Just thinking out loud here, and forgive me if this has been mentioned before (still making my way through this thread) only had my unit 2days but have noticed the most tedious part of use to be dumping the FULL contents of the ELB (there is always residue on the sides) I know its a minor thing, but we all know the attitude to perfecting the experience around these parts.

Just insert one of these, twist a few times and dump the small amount that was stuck to the sides, and is now loose, with the rest of your avb from that load.

It being plugged in is not a problem at all, I actually was looking for a desktop for this purpose rather than a portable, so I was somewhat expecting to be tethered to a wall.

My friends are....how's the polite way to say it....poor lol. They certainly would respect it and pay me back eventually if it was broken, but it would definitely be money out of my own pocket first.

The idea of it just setting up on a table sounds good, my friends are certainly respectful and careful of things, just the all glass makes it all the much easier to break. It's not like it's their first rodeo (we are all 24-26) but glass is just so much more fragile.

But so tasty and clean too....I'm talking myself into it lol

Maybe one option would be to get the EVO & a nice HT for home, and a few Chinese glass pieces for parties.

That way, you set it up at the table with a few different fun party bubblers & recyclers & whatnot. If one goes the way of so many before it (Damn you, Newton!) you're only asking for $40 for the glass instead of $400. Then you have something at home that's a little more personal.

This is what I use to quickly clean out my ELBs. The diameter is roughly 1/2".

Bit the bullet and splurged on an EVO with a Hydrahoneycomb ($550)! My daily driver is a DBV with a D020, how big of a difference in vapor quality should I expect?

I have a DBV. To me, the vapor QUANTITY isn't all that much better with the Evo. Though it is better, depending on materials, load, temp, etc of course. The key difference is taste for me. The DBV's taste is good. But this is great. I hate the DBV's whip setup I could never keep those hoses clean over time no matter what I did, so the QUALITY, to me, is night and day. This device is also a bit more economical you'll find. For one, I've never combusted my material with the Evo whereas I do it with the DBV every so often. And for two I use way less material with this sucker.

It being plugged in is not a problem at all, I actually was looking for a desktop for this purpose rather than a portable, so I was somewhat expecting to be tethered to a wall.

You seem determined to get this one. And I say go for it, it'll work out fine it's an awesome unit. But all I can tell you about this being a party vape is that I have this device and still prefer to use the Arizer Air or Solo when I have people over. This device is a monster and anyone can use it. But in my experience with plug-in vapes in social situations, no matter how awesome they are, people get tired of huddling around the outlet wherever that may be. Get yourself an extension cord and whatnot sure, but it's still a pain in the neck to have a cord around. You might blow this off, but if you're looking to use this FREQUENTLY in social situations, I ask you consider this nuisance seriously. This thing slides around on smooth surfaces I'm telling you the cord is something you have to consider. It's not long and coils up easy, I've watched it uncoil and pull my unit right off the end table with no one touching it. When people are around accidents do happen. No matter how careful you are. I'm careful. And I've already seen my unit fall once.

There is a reason everything from phones to video game controllers to headphones are almost standard wireless: because cords are a pain in the ass.

I have a pretty standard 18mm 12 inch turbine water pipe I use with the Solo or Air. The Air is a little better socially because you can keep a few batteries with you and ensure you'll have all night to vape. But yea, people find it much more convenient, in my experience anyway, to pass around the smaller device with my water pipe. They whiteout the tube no problem. Just as good as the Evo? No. But the convenience is an even trade off.

For sheer versatility, I really can't recommend the Arizer Air enough. I know that it's a bit off topic so I'll limit my opinion, but something like that sounds like it's more up your alley. Though if you're deadset on going high end and want the best, the Evo will work just fine for you and your pals I promise you that :)

Great minds and all that ;) you find that's a good size or would you change it at all?

Yours is about the same diameter as @Stu's. The length isn't that important, as long as it easily fits inside. When I got my first Cloud I bought the following. Others here use a very similar mascara brush.

A lot of us here use a different cord. The connector used is the very common type with PC's, TV's, etc. A longer and/or lighter weight and/or different shape (e.g., mine is flat, not round) can be helpful to avoid pulling the EVO around. @gaseous_clay's suggestion of cheap glass for guest use is IMO a good one, I would just add though that you probably don't want to use a piece that if broken would dump a load of water on the EVO or a piece that must be used inverted - a lot of folks don't have experience using an inverted joint.

Personally, I share my EVO with others but only after I've done a serious little training session, and only with friends I know well. My buddy won't go that far, he keeps his Q in reserve for group events and blows each person a bag.

I find it to be the perfect size. It's a tight(ish) fit so it scrapes the walls of the ELB thoroughly just by reaming it once or twice (no need to "swirl" inside) and it's an invaluable tool for me.

:peace:

@Stu's point about not needing to "swirl" (aka turn/twist/twirl/rotate) bears repeating. I haven't bought any new ELB's in a long time, but early on at least there were some where you could feel the edge of the welded seam. Twirling a tight brush against the inside edge could cause bristles to catch and pull on that seam.

My brush has a smaller diameter, but like @Stu, I also use an in/out motion.

That's exactly the one I use as well. It's perfect for the ELBs and they don't require much more cleaning for a long while. I also got one of these, which is a good tool, but the bigger brush is more useful.

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B000652LWE/ref=sr_ph?ie=UTF8&qid=1441034105&sr=1&keywords=brush

On the topic of the EVO as a party vape: one of the concerns mentioned right away was the amount of material that could be loaded. This may be annoying when serving several people as the ELBs are fairly small and most only load them about half full (I think I load them with roughly .15g each). Of course, you could load multiple ELBs beforehand if you are really liking the EVO. There are some very nice portables out there as well, however, that you may want to research 'round here that may be just right for groups of party people.

I have to agree that the taste of the vapor along with what seems to be a very complete extraction are the big advantages of the EVO. I toast the bud until it looks about like coffee grounds and only that final hit doesn't have an appealing taste.
