Discontinued VapeXhale Cloud EVO

Evo arrived with early bird tube. I know it's been said, but damn this thing is light. Turns from red to green two minutes or so. After a few bowls packed about 20% I'm definitely cross-eyed and painless. Abv looks evenly vaped. Great hits, smooth. Not harsh in anyway. Flavor is amazing.

I agree with whats been said about the swagger logo. It's tasteful. No way over over-powering. Doesn't obscure the view of the vapor.

This was my first exposure to a cloud in any form. I'm convinced. Well worth the wait! No regrets selling my previous desk top vape to contribute to the indiegogo campaign. Congrats Vapexhale! Evo is a beast.

Glad I have no real agenda today, except for getting further acquainted with Evo. More rigorous testing is needed. I haven't even tried concentrates yet. Not that it's too early in the day, I'm more than set from flowers alone. I'll have to give some co2 oil a try and report back.

Great Scott!
Friend and neighbor got his (despite ordering SO far after me :/ ) and said that his is getting hot. The plastic exterior is pretty hot, not burn your hands hot, but more uncomfortably hot than the cloud+ and my old ticker that he has used. I know 1st person experience is important around here not hearsay, so I'm going to stop at his house and hit it on the way home, for science.

I just have to look forward to the cloud+ from ebay coming this week. Maybe that will hold me until whenever the "lower tier" of cloud supporters get their stuff shipped.

I know I shouldn't complain because it was a great deal, AND IT WAS! for the $250 upgrade, but at the same time that means I fall into the "already spent $500+ on the company" category, so its kind of a bummer to see us getting the evo last. Then again we paid less. I'm on the fence about how I feel about that one, but at the same time its not like I'm mad at the company who is producing the best desktop vape I've ever used. Just feels weird knowing that I'm $750-$900 deep into the company, told him about the sale, and because he DIDN'T buy the original cloud, he gets his sooner.

Again, not a big deal just a bummer.

Hi, Czechyourhead and all this is my first post. Yes! please report back about CO2 oil! that is what I came on to post about. I would also like to hear about the consistency of the CO2 you are using. I use Co2 from a company called CO2 organics in seattle that comes in a syringe, it dabs great stays on the dabber but often splatters, I'm hoping the EVO can help dial in the perfect temperature. Does anyone have any feedback about tempertures for kief or bubble hash in the EVO? I also can't wait to hear from StoneMonkey about the new EZ load bowls or whatever they're doing for hash. I'm anxiously awaiting my EVO after being without since May.

Yes the top gets really hot. We've been told by SM that it's designed to be held from the bottom and not the top at all. Put wristbands on it to easily differentiate between the hot top part and the cooler bottom.

RE: hash temps,

I would first dial-in your temperature for buds. Start low and work your way up slowly until you get a consistent dark brown roast. Espresso colored but not charred is what you're looking for.

That sweet spot on the high-end is perfect for kief & most bubble hash.
I like to take that sweet spot and move the dial a little bit higher for oils.
I've used CO2 syringes, not in the cloud, but I'm sure it would vape very well in the Vapexhale EVO. (edit: your CO2 oil should be a jelly-like consistency! Runny can mean it's cut w/ glycerin)

(This is all for using concentrates with the traditional ELB. Who knows if a new concentrate ELB might change everything ;))

Yes the top is REALLY hot. Right where I hold it at the top. I hope they include wristbands with mine. I use my cloud inverted only.

If it makes you feel better fanatics haven't been delivered units either.

I don't believe wristbands to help with this heat. I too had formed a habit of gripping from the top wristband ladened Cloud/Cloud+. In the case of the Evo, I had to change my habit as the bottom as absolutely cool to the touch.

The top half of the EVO only gets 'Cloud hot' after it's been on a while. I can get absolutely zombiefied before it's even a decent handwarmer. And it heats up so fast from a cold start, compared to the Cloud, that it's no problem at all for me to just turn it off if I'm good for a while. The long Cloud start up time was a major weakness, and the huge improvement is much appreciated in my house. That long start up time prompted a 'keep it on' attitude, and you therefore had to deal with a hot Cloud. Now it's no longer a pain in the ass to wait for vaping temp, so you don't ever have to deal with a hot top end if you don't want to.

The perception I had of the Cloud, based on posts from FC members, is it's simple to use. Practically foolproof: Just drop the ELB in, inhale and let the onboard software regulate the temp. Little was said about technique or grinds to use in order to avoid combustion or uneven browning. I preordered an Evo under this assumption. Believing it was a Cloud with the manufacturing kinks worked out. Instead I'm starting to get the sense that the Evo is a redesigned Cloud+ with heavy emphasis on concentrates. I wanted this for herbs and I'm not a fan of concentrates. These reports of combustion with herbs are getting a wee bit concerning.

@Live-N-Learn when/if you figure out a technique for getting milk, please share it.
Welcome aboard, matey. You can turn the heat down to where you want it..

It would be nice if the EVO could detect load parameters and ambient conditions and deliver consist results based on presets...but there are obviously numerous variables...load moisture and quality, draw speed, ambient temperature and humidity...you get the picture.

There no reason to burn your bud.

I've had a Cloud since the 1st beta testing and now have an EVO. Never combusted (not even close) or had uneven browning with beta, production unit, or EVO. I can't prevent you from having concerns, but I certainly have none.

Why shouldn't earlier delivery be a perk when you spend more?

not factoring in our previous $500 investments
Aside from the research time that would have taken, I wouldn't think penalizing people because they hadn't made a previous purchase would have gotten a good reception.

Great Scott!
I'm not saying penalize those who didn't have it, but wasn't a big point that they were hooking up previous cloud owners (which they did with the great price). It would have just felt really shitty if it was "everyone who already owns a cloud gets one last" which is not the case I found out.

If it was "you guys get it last because you paid the least" I'd feel a bit cheated. Since I paid $750+ to the company so far. Again that is not the case so its not even an issue to me. I just felt like I had been loyal to vapexhale. First in my circle of friends to buy one when they were brand new tickers. Showed them all my vape, got them all on board. Shared the indiegogo deal with all of them, and I'm the very last one to get an evo. They both bought in at different price points, so its easy to feel left out when you showed everyone the deal in the first place, yet are the the very last to get one. I haven't even had shipping info yet, and they are all enjoying their clouds with their total investment into the company being less than the price of the original cloud I bought, nevermind the evo, or my additional cloud+ purchase.

Well, I got to spend some quality time with my EVO last night. First off, I have to say that I have never hit a VapeXhale product until last night. A grabbed an older Cloud+ recently as a backup for the EVO, but decided not to use it yet. I wanted my first VapExhale experience to be a new EVO through a hydratube, so I waited. This review is coming from someone with no prior Cloud experience.

My pics aren't as good as others:
PICT1333.jpg

As you can see, I ordered a dry mouthpiece also. I like variety.

Here is a shot of just the HT:
PICT1330.jpg

I will start my review by stating what kind of customer I am. I am not medical. To me this is for fun. But it is daily, so my tolerance is high. I switched to vaping a couple of years ago because I always seemed to be coughing up something or clearing my throat when I smoked. I am glad I made the switch, and my congestion has all but gone away.

But it was at a cost. Everyone is different, but for me vaping has never quite gotten me where I want to be. I always seem to be 'not quite there'. Because of this, I tend to vape more often than I ever used to smoke. I have accepted this as a drawback to being healthier, and I accept the trade off. But I have always found myself longing for 'more' from a vape high. Again, I am only speaking for myself here.

I tell you all this because the EVO has changed the game for me. VapExhale has effectively created a time machine. To say I haven't been this high from vaping would be an understatement. I haven't been this high since I was at prep school in the 80s.

Many people are trying to fight intolerance these days. VapExhale has gone the opposite route: they are fighting tolerance. I can say that they are winning the battle. I have spent over 25 years building up my tolerance, yet the EVO cut through it like a knife.

I have never been the type to 'lose my shit' when I get high, but I can tell I'm where I want to be when I stop thinking about getting where I want to be (not sure if that makes sense). A lot of times maintenance of my buzz seems to require almost constant vaping.

Not so with the EVO. I filled an ELB about 1/3, then hit it until it produced no more vapor. I felt very nice, so I picked up a guitar and starting noodling around a bit. Usually that nice feeling goes away quickly, and I soon find myself back at the vape to 'top off' my buzz over & over. Well, last night when I went to hit the EVO again because my buzz was tapering off the EVO had shut off. Not because of a faulty unit, but because I had been high and just enjoying playing guitar for over an hour. I do not remember the last time I went over an hour before wanting to hit the vape again.

In summary, the EVO has given me a gift I had pretty much thought was unattainable: It got me HIGH like I was a teenager again. I don't know all the science behind it, but I'm glad you guys figured it out. All I can say is thanks. I know this doesn't carry the same weight as when a medical patient mentions how much easier you have made their life, but thank you. You have given me back one of the joys I thought was lost.

In the issue of fairness, I must point out two negatives I noticed:

First, the device is a bit too much fun to use. I found myself going back to it just to use it for fun when I really didn't need any more.

Second, the tube is so smooth that it is easy to take a huge hit without knowing it.

So if you can overlook these 'flaws', I would highly recommend picking one of these up.

For those wondering about a learning curve, here are some pics I took of my second ELB. It is so easy to achieve dense vapor. In fact, it couldn't get much easier:
PICT1331.jpg

PICT1332.jpg

So in conclusion: I made the mistake of getting caught up in the hype of how great the EVO was going to be. This made my expectations unbelievably high.

Luckily the EVO made me unbelievably high, so it all worked out just fine. :D

Thanks again to the whole VXL crew for this awesome product. I couldn't be happier that I was able to play a (very) small part in your resurrection.

your review means a lot to me. I am not only uninitiated to VXL products, but this will be my first vaporizer at all - in fact, my first exposure to vapor period (sans a jaunt into e-cig's). This review has amped my excitement level to the point that I have this desire (which will not be given into) to begin wondering when pre-orders might start shipping... patience is something I can maintain. I just have to be strong.

Thanks for this review. And nice axe collection!

Are you fucking kidding me? Those are epic milk-shots! Great pics, thanks for the review. Especially the focus on tolerance and how it specifically impacts you, very useful info for many of us in the same boat. (topping off constantly etc..)

I believe after this review, the state of the NH is going to change the logo from Live Free or Die to Live to Get High

Nice lil mini-guitar Store you have there btw! I've got a late 60s Gibson SG that has been in the case for a few years :( need to get some of the wiring fixed or the soap bar pickups replaced or something, its a crackle fest whenever I plug it in and try to get tuning)

ok, so a while ago i got my early bird package. the partial shipment is referring to the cases. the ship weight was 3.3lbs.

oh and I paid no brokerage and no international shipping fees. I think VXL might have done us a solid on this one. thank you guys! also it only took 2 days to get to me. it shipped at 545 on tuesday, and I got it today at 11 or so. so that's less than 48h even!

i have some pics for you all too :)

ok, now we got that out of the way...

I have not hit it above 12 o clock yet. I have had really tasty hits than have choked me out already. but I have not made any clouds that I have seen in some of the pics already hosted on this thread. but it's a low and slow practice for me. I'm in no rush to do anything.

that's all for now. a real review will come once I have become familiar with my new friend!

seriously good review, @2 Paces!
thanks for the great pics. i'll be pulling the swagger label off of the neck, but the round one down low can stay.

since i have an EVO pulling in the door tomorrow, i gotta say, i'm more jealous of your guitar collection!

EPIC EPIC EPIC review and thank you so much. Your use case is EXACTLY why we designed the vape that we did. I am happy that you are thrilled with your unit and that it has bridged the gap between smoking and combustion for you.

On a side note, the "old" new Swagger label, if you soak it in Simple Green for a few days, ends up looks like THIS!

still gotta pull the top label off due to distortion, but if simple green will thin the lower one down to an outline i am ecstatic! that looks waaaay better, imo.
thanks for the tip. tomorrow can't get here soon enough.

So if you can overlook these 'flaws', I would highly recommend picking one of these up.

For those wondering about a learning curve, here are some pics I took of my second ELB. It is so easy to achieve dense vapor. In fact, it couldn't get much easier:

So in conclusion: I made the mistake of getting caught up in the hype of how great the EVO was going to be. This made my expectations unbelievably high.

Luckily the EVO made me unbelievably high, so it all worked out just fine. :D

Thanks again to the whole VXL crew for this awesome product. I couldn't be happier that I was able to play a (very) small part in your resurrection.

LMAO. Good stuff. I love it all especially the negatives. I am glad SM said its safe to leave your unit on because I am noticing the same thing about using it and zoning, because every couple seconds in my reality I see the green/red combo for the shutoff. lol
But yeah, I just turn it off/on again and continue to zone out, Ive been up all day and keep saying damn I gotta turn it on again.

On a side note, thats some awesomeee milk. What # on the dial did you use to get that???

@2 Paces what temp do you have yours dialed in at for a tube that looks like that?

Just about 2 o'clock. The first picture in my post shows the setting that it was on.

Interesting fact: when I look down the bamboo when it is green, I can see a very small flashing red light near the bottom.
