Discontinued VapeXhale Cloud EVO

If you can slow your draw speed down enough the whistle is very subdued. Still a bit noticable but nothing that would make me want to return it. When i first got it I was ripping it like my plus and it was whistling like a tea kettle. I then realized there is no need to hit it hard that and slower pulls milks up all my pieces with a very faint whine/whistle.
nice, I am going to play around with it more tonight, haven't had a lot of time to go through multiple loads yet. Here's to me still not being stoned tomorrow morning!

I have found that keeping my Evo on a napkin or paper towell during use eliminates the whistle. :2c:

I was wondering about this. I put my hand under it but it still whistled. I am going to give this a try also.

I did notice the whistle isn't as bad if I pull slower but it is VERY annoying. Like, "I might have to use my solo all the time and send my EVO back annoying".

I am going to try 330 tonight when I get home. I maybe had too much in the ELB a few times also.

You can put a little cotton over the hole at the bottom (loose - do not want to hinder the airflow too much, but many have eliminated the whistle with a little cotton pad over the opening in the bottom of the bamboo...

And for sure, less is more with the EVO. A light load with a fine grind has been my best performer - like 1/4 to 1/5 full with cap on.

This is my to go mod for EVO whistling.
I was tired of cotton getting sucked into the bamboo, or restricting airflow. You can play with how many layers of gauze pad you use. I find 1 to 2 layers do an awesome job in keeping EVO quiet, clean from sucking debris into the bamboo, and, IMO, this little air restriction affects the cloud production. Please try and provide more info.
Try to use sterile gauze, and black masking take for coolness and avoid gunkage and build up glue residue from stronger tapes like duct tape...

Almost there...
Huge shout out to @lazylathe for introducing me to EVO! My previous experience is OG Ticker and Cloud+ and I LOVE the EVO! So light (thought i'd prefer the heft of OG, but I actually love the lighter weight) and it's just alot more classy looking. The LE Swagger HT is so dope! Smoothest and most tasty vapour i've yet experienced. Had the pleasure of sampling some tangerine dream, swazi, and dieselXC99 and all shined like I couldn't believe.

I did experience the "cold green light" as well, which scared the ^&$@*% outta me because I thought it perhaps was broken, but a power cycle fixed that up pretty quick. So it's good to know that others have this glitch as well!

More to come later but just wanted to give props to @lazylathe!

No problem at all!!
It was tough to leave my EVO with you but i have a few vapes to keep me amused for now!
Looks like i may have to loan you my fake Cloud+ to put it through it's paces and to compare to your earlier ones.

See, i told you it was a good idea to leave the HT with you as well for experimenting with!

Oh and thanks for introducing me to Indica strains!!
My go to has always been Sativas but i had my butt kicked last night by some Purple Kush!!
Way too medicated off a tiny amount!!
Started off being super high and then super lethargic, it was like i was part of the sofa!!
Took tremendous effort to get up and shower!

Hope the testing goes okay!!!

I can't recall exactly how SM explained this, so if I'm way off, mea culpa. Perhaps SM will clarify . . .

but I think that it may be possible albeit unusual for the sensor to be fooled into thinking that the unit is already at temp. Shutting the unit off, moving the dial to a different position, and toggling the unit back on resets the unit.
At least that's what I think I remember. :myday:

This is a dangerous game of telephone where a non technical person is telling someone a technical explanation but you pretty much got it right. There is an auto shut off that kicks in when one of our two sensors senses too much of a delta from the other sensor. We see this happen most of the time on an initial turn on, or if someone cycles their unit on/off very rapidly. In most cases, if you move the dial position and turn it back on, it should resolve all issues.

Mine does this pretty regularly. I just do like you instructed and move the dial to noon and power cycle it again. All is well in Cloud-y land after that.

I have found that most whatever changes the airflow affects the whistle somewhat. So as others have posted, e.g., the HT or the ELB load or how hard the draw.

IIRC the whistle is believed to be associated with having reached optimum airflow. IME pulling just at/below this level, given the EVO's excellent extraction, provides the same quality vapor albeit slower.

Whew, that was a close one! Being technical but with a faulty memory doesn't go very far. :ugh:

Thanks for the "reset" clarification, non-technical wizard that you are.

I noticed there is no HydraFoot 2.0 on the site anymore. It is not "out of stock" It is just not there.

So I just combusted a layer of bubble hash granules in my EVO @ max temp.
I guess unlike herb combustion, it doesn't even smell like smoke :hmm:

What happened was,
when the backpressure of my stemless perc forced air through the ELB, I suddenly heard an very audible *POP*/explosion and saw a hefty plume out the bottom of the bamboo. Really doesn't seem to be any repercussions from the event.

I checked and the bamboo is still airtight. No visible cracks or anything down the bamboo. And no combustion smell!
But still a very loud sound.

Anyone else have a similar experience?

The only experienced i've had is when putting the elb in the gong too quick, and i'd hear a pop and see a flash. This also happened occassionally with my Cloud+ so I just slow down on the insertion (giggity!) It's happened twice now and never since I started slowing down the insertion. I'm a little perplexed why it happened to begin with. I knew about this from SLiM way back in the Cloud thread, but that's because his ELB was dirty and being used as long as possible. This ELB that it occured with in the EVO was relatively unused and clean...maybe had 3 or 4 uses but swept/brushed out after every use. I believe I had the dial on 3:00, which is my favourite position.

Back to more testing....the EVO didn't skip a beat last night! I tried all areas on the dial and was pretty impressed, as I feel this now re-calibrated EVO is perfect. I honestly don't see much change (other than the obvious) from my Cloud+, except that the Cloud+ ran hotter and was able to get the ABV darker, but not by much.

After a long warm up at 3:00, I dialed it down to 9:00 and waited a good while to let it get to where it should be, longer than when the green light came on. Loaded about 1/2 full ELB of some high grade Island Honey, and got zero vapour but some nice flavour. Up to 11:00 and got some whispy, at 12:00 I think this is where effective vapour can be seen. My favourite position as mentioned is about 2-3:00, with very white cloudage starting at about 3:30. I do sometime use max temp, and if I start on max with a 1/2 to 3/4 full ELB, that obviously results in the thickest biggest clouds. The thing is though, it's ALWAYS smooth! I don't get it, even with the dry mouthpiece the thickest vapour always seems tolerable. Must be magic working in that beast!

I was getting decent medium brown ABV at 3:00 and up to max....I personally don't care for how dark it really gets, it's the EXTRACTION that i'm concerned with and the EVO extracts like no other!!! I don't have to worry about charring, or unevenly vaped ABV....it's just awesome.

If the longevity is there, the EVO is my favourite bar none. I'd prefer maybe a tiny bit hotter, but i'm fine with it as it is now, I used to love using the OG ticker at noon to 2:00 and getting nice low temp clouds at 9:00. I kinda feel like the entire temp calibration needs to be shifted back to the OG days, with 7:00 being no vapour, but taste, 9:00 light whispy, 12:00 a good 190c or so, and then Thick Clouds at 3:00 and 3-5 on the dial for concentrates. Regardless, i'm using 3:00 as my go to temp and it's a bit nostalgic for me because my very first vape many moons ago was the Arizer V-tower (analog) that had a temp dial on the bottom of the unit, and I always left the setting at 3:00. The EVO is a futuristic EVOlved (waaaay into the future) version of the V-tower IMO so it kinda trips me out. :D

Oh yeah, for some reason I have eliminated much of the whistle. The only thing I can think of is the level of water in the HT, or the ELB size. But whistle does exist with dry mouthpiece too, so I think I have just subconsciously adapted with the strength of my pulls.

I've had similar experiences with my Dabuddha vaping traditional Morroccan style hashes. It was very similar to the pop you hear if you hold a burning splint to a test tube of hydrogen.
It was weird, it almost seemed like some sort of gas was building up in the whip/heat cover area.
The DBV was also fine but I found it quite interesting and would love to know what caused it. Can't imagine bubble hash giving off any gas. . .

I have had the same happen in my EVO. Although the only time it did I put just kief in the elb and inserted it to quickly. So i'm assuming some of the kief came out and flash vaporized down on the bamboo.

Hmmm, I was using kief that night but can't remember if I had any in the ELB at the time. It does scare the crap out of me because it sounds like a pop/flare up flash and catches me by surprise. I do think it is some filiments of ABV or whatever that ignites for a split second, but also thinking it's a gas igniting due to pressure? Again, non issue if you insert slowly (giggity!) but something to be aware of for new users.

I'm finding no whistle with the ELB 1/2 full using the Swagger LE HT (my favourite glass of all time). For some reason the Swagger isn't getting as dirty as my old Evolver v.1 and v.2....not sure why? Slit/circ design? It's also MUCH smoother! It just seems like I don't need to maintain it as frequently, but that could be due to the EVO's efficiency too! lol

Not that I am overly concerned at this point, but my EVO acts a little weird sometimes. I have gotten the same "red light" situations as others have noted. But just now, after heating up and taking some good morning hits, I went back for another and the unit was OFF. I mean, of course the power switch was on and I had used it a half hour ago, but now it's off. No red light, no light at all. Is this supposed to happen?

I just toggled the power switch and it's heating up just fine. Again, not overly concerned and if toggling the switch fixes everything, then of course it's no big deal. I only bring it up due to the past posts and the fact I broke my Persei the first night I had it. Hoping I don't have some bad luck or something ;)

In other news, look what I just got:
