Do the Alpha Plus dogs run on a different VVPS than the other heaters? I have an Sc3+ and am wondering if I can use the same VVPS I got with it to run an Alpha Plus.

Couldn’t agree more. I don’t think I could even handle an alpha+ If the ones I have already give me lung busters.
Maybe a sc3+ down the line a little ways.... y’all know how VAS is. and vas is kinda bad with the underdogs since there’s so many heater variations to try and acquire if collecting is your thing.

SC3+, 12.0v, GonG which its screen is lowered by an inch or maybe a little bit more, medium-fast draw, 0.05gr~ hits so hard. strongest vape I own i think.... slow draw works too but the ABV will be darker and it hits less powerful..
with/without tamping the bowl down...either works

More thorough impressions (maybe) later, but inaugural hit through the free glass stem was pretty good. The wood does give off a bit of taste at the moment, but I’ll let her run for a while.

I got a couple dogs in the mail yesterday!
the big dog on the right (chonky dog) originally had an sc3 core … i really wanted to try the newer sc3+ core but i know i’d never get a dog i liked better than the chonky dog … it’s a custom piece made from the “fuck you tree” made from the black locust tree that burned and fell during the paradise “camp” fire.
from dave ( @underdog ): While many of the trees survived with some scorching one in particular didn't. It was a tree that was beside the driveway that I always joked about someday cutting down and making vapes out of. Well it decided to fall during the fire and first smashed thru our travel trailer before crushing the truck as well.
i love everything about my “chonky dog” … looks great, has some heft to it (hence the chonky dog nickname).
so i contacted dave and asked him to replace the sc3 core with an sc3+ core … and then asked him to put the sc3 core in a different dog … i told him to find an old gnarly beat up piece of wood, he picked a piece and sent me a pic and this was his description: It's a piece of spalted Hackberry that's been around the block and seen some things. Maybe been in a knife fight or two.
i loved it and he put my old sc3 core into it … perfect!
for those who have made it this far into my ramblings ... here's a little announcement ... dave now has spiked cooling stems available ... he has them in both the standard core size and the alpha core size. they work great and really cool down the vapor! you can see the standard core glass cooling stem in the picture!
i always love working with dave ... such a pleasant and smooth experience/transaction every time!

it hits like a real heavy hitter, around 0.05gr dark abv 100% vapor, the layer close to the screen was not dark

The Alpha/X/Plus has the same bowl, I think around 0.15gr for the GonG/Thick Glass Stem, depends where the screen is set (the NonG can be filled with less herb than GonG/Thick glass stem) and it's known that also the Lotus vaporizer's WPA/bowl is compatible with Alpha/X/Plus , and Lotus bowl can hold around 0.2gr....
so if you take the screen to a lower position, you can fill 0.2gr, but be careful not to tamp down too much herb and using high voltage on the VVPS (it can combust if you fill too much and tamp)
so that depends if you like to tamp down or not too....
and also depends if you like fast/slow/medium draw speed...
Edit: finally got my VVPS now. no more 12V charger. 11.3v is SO tasty, damn, i missed these real lemonish clouds!

my SC3+ with 11.0V using NonG with medium draw speed, the ABV is dark...
but also depends which wood you've got...

Can also roll up some extract in organic cotton or rayon. Those tend to hold up a bit better to the higher heat needed to vape extract and don't impart the 'fully vaped flower' taste.

the SC3+ is more like Alpha other than SC3? I get nice clouds with the NonG at 10.3V (!) the taste is great, the ABV is sort of dark, slow draw, tho, Claro Walnut... is not like the super dense wood in the world? cocobolo is like 55% more denser than Claro Walnut or so? I don't get it... maybe the VVPS is not accurate? new, the recommended one from amazon

I have two of Dave's little blue VVPS and they basically agree and 9.8v is about as high as I go those. I also have one of the Amazon integrated VVPS units and I have to run that at 11v to get the same results with the same log.

These UD's look and sound soooo great, and I'm learning a lot here. I'm looking at a Black Walnut Alpha (with a cool shape) possibly with figuring, and the phat Wormy Claro Alpha X, and at a heady glass stem. It looks like a lot of you love the SC3's, but I have questions about the Alphas...the new Alpha+ units are 15% hotter/bigger than the Alpha X, and the Alpha X is hotter/bigger than the standard Alpha? And I've read a few things about the Alpha+ "upgrade," but does that mean that folks are converting older logs to the A+, or are they buying new Alpha+ logs that are a bit heavier for the added heat?

hey, the Alpha serie has more airflow, and they do weight more, but SC3+ my unit, only weighs around 99gr, so I don't think the Alpha/+/X weighs more than 120gr or so, not too much
I took the SC3+ also because my favorite bong is 14mm. Alpha stems/wpa are only 19mm.
I like my SC3+ because the bowl is not too big...
If your bongs are 19mm mainly, take some Alpha

BTW I thought the Alpha+ needed a thicker/denser piece of wood, but I might have dreamed that. Still, how can I not fall in love with this thing?

I’m a baby bird lunger myself and don’t need a heavy hitter. I have SC3, SC3+, and Alpha and they all get me exactly where I need to be.
