Underdog Log Vapes

We were hoping to get a small batch of them dropped this week but Underdogette has been
really sick so things are kind of shut down over here while we try and nurse her back to health.

Hopefully she gets well soon and we can finish these pieces up for next week but it's kind of day-to-day
right now seeing how things go.
Damn you guys are on a bad roll I hope she gets back to better fast!

How does a microdog compare to a regular underdog?
Also did that contest end up happening?

The Mini and Micro Dogs were basically 'toy vapes' we made many years back and haven't made since. The Mini was the larger of the two and was maybe 1/4 the size of a regular Dog. The Micro was slightly larger at maybe 1/3 of the size. Both were so small that the lifespans were quite short and they were limited to existing users and not to be used as daily drivers.

If I can find a pic later I'll post one but I can't seem to find any right now.

I haven't heard anything about the contest but with Underdogette being sick (and me too now) we've been pretty out of things to be honest. Hoping we're both on the mend soon but for now it's pretty miserable around here.

does that mean the wood will split eventually? I cant use the micro for a daily driver? Its fun to use but want to know its limits? Do i need to buy a full-size dog now? Also sorry to hear the dogette and you are not feeling well! I hope y’all get better soon and sending good vibes your way!

I think the heater being so close to the electrical assembly causes it to degrade quickly and fail........not so much splitting the wood.

Thanks for the well-wishes and all the kind words everyone.. I think we're starting to get better but figure it's going to be another week before we're able to wear respirators and get our shop work done. Fingers crossed it's not just a trick and the bug is actually planning a sneak attack. Seeing how sick a lot of people are around here with covid we're just glad that's not what we're dealing with at least.

No, like @arb mentioned the wood isn't the point of failure, it's more that the plug and internal wiring doesn't have a choice but to be very, very close to the heater which starts to degrade them due to the heat. In testing (way back when) we saw failures as early as just a couple-few hundred hours of use.. that's vs over 20,000hrs+ for our standard vapes. :science:

Would it be repairable if I get to the point the wiring degrades? I like my little micro dog, its my first dog 🐶

Yeah for sure, no worries there.

Usually by the time the plug or wiring has started to fail the wooden body isn't too far behind (internal damage, not cracking) but the core itself is
more or less immortal so we can rebuild the mini/micro around that core indefinitely. I think last time we did one (a full, complete rebuild) it was $60 and included a new wooden body, new plug and wiring.. with the core being cleaned/polished and reused. :2c::peace:

You guys are awesome! I love the micropup and can’t wait for a full sized dog one day!

Hey guys, can anyone who owns a glass and SS stem shed some light for me. I'm buying a SS stem for another vape and curious as to how much different it'll be to the glass stem it's replacing. First of, it's short, maybe 2.5 inches, and it's filled with some glass beads for cooling, and this set up works for me.

I'm wondering a few things, will the tip of the SS get hotter than the glass? And if SS gets way the hell hotter than glass, are putting glass beads in it OK? Am I missing anything that I should be aware of? Thanks!

Hey @TeaCup the stainless stem(s) tips do tend to get hotter/faster from conduction than glass stems.. you may need to lower your voltage a touch or modify your technique (faster draw, etc) to keep from overdoing it with the stainless.. but maybe not, each user/case is different.

There should be no concern heat wise about putting glass beads in the stainless stem though I don't know that I've come across ones small enough I'm sure they probably exist. :cheer:

Hey guys, quick question. So I've been using the Alpha through water the past few months. I finally managed to get my wife to try it, and she's been vaping with me every night for like 3 months 😂.

Anyways... Since I got a new power supply, even 10v will give fat rips. I have it on 10, and I'm still combusting if I'm not careful and play with the distance on it. I pushed the bowl down slightly, and turned it slightly lower, but didn't seem to fix it. Before I go messing with the bowl any more, wanted to ask here what you guys prefer to try first. Would you lower the temp some more or push the bowl much further down? I set the volts to like 9 and it didn't combust, but it also didn't give the fat hits that I like. Trying to find a good middle ground here. Thanks

That's awesome you wife loves it too!
Depending on what piece I am using, I will typically sit at 9.8-10.4. Have yet to combust. If your water piece is smaller and very restrictive, you will get some toastyness, at least I have found. Also, your pack has a big impact.
Have you tried switching your draw speeds?
Do you combust dry at that temp?

I would drop the screen 5mm at a time until you find your sweet spot.
Ours is at 25mm for both the wife and myself.

So I run it through water, and I typically keep it on 10. It's a small cheap bong. As for packing, I use the straw method and just fill slightly over the screen

I see - and what temp do you guys keep it at if you don't mind me asking? I have cheap little bong (8 inches) and I'm not sure if that has something to do with it. I also only slightly have moved it from the stock spot. I read on here that it's best to leave it alone, so I wanted to see what you guys thought before fucking with it
