Finally got a TM2, went with the PH package from Vgoodiez 420 sale with the missile stem.

On Demand
I love this thing. Admittedly in my honeymoon phase but on-demand mode is instantly spectacular. I'm generally into low temp flavors and setting the TM2 PH to 2-3, pulls out flavors that beat the Firefly2, except with much less effort. Probably like 2 warm up draws still full of terps. And then it start putting out a bunch of vapor that maintains flavor for the next 10 draws or so. Generally I'm taking 8-10 second draws with maybe 10 seconds in between. With the TM2 PH and the missile stem the vapor is so cool I can just keep taking draw after draw and neitehr the vapor nor the tip of the stem get hot. However at this point im generallly comletely medicated. I'm really loving this thing right now.

Session Mode
This seems like a throwaway on the PH. The only temp worth trying it turning down the heat to 1 or .5 and then about 1 minute or maybe a minute 20 seconds into the session vapor it very hot flavors all gone. I might have to play a bit more, but the temp knob is basically useless as far as I can tell in Session Mode. I feel like setting it one 1 is like setting my ALP on 430 in session mode.

Verdict
Being maybe the best on-demand vape in the world, I'm not gonna grip about session mode, becuase who needs it when the device heats up this fast. Right now for flavor vapor and repeatabiltiyt I like it more than my SplinterZ in TC mode and my P80, and Firewoods. The PH is a winner!

I find the session mode comes in handy when sharing with people so they don't have to understand button pushes, haptic feedback, etc.

Agreed there could be better materials than glass. For some reason I've never wanted to try the titanium stem despite the fact it may work better, but I'm not really sure what puts me off, maybe the fact it's opaque, odd really, though I ended up mainly using TED's in the end and mostly keep the TM for portable use, so fewer opportunities to even think about trying it.
Anyone give a detailed comparison between the glass and Ti and save me the ridiculously massive effort of trying it myself? 😉
i can. i've used both short and long glass and ti stems. there is a person in the states who makes 55mm ti tinymight stems. my first use case was out and about. i would load ti dosing caps and basically take 1 puff at a time while out, maybe a few cleanups at the end. for this ti and glass both worked. by the end of 4 long pulls in a row, the short and long ti stems are a bit hot. the short galss is almost, and the long glass is fine. with the temp stepping experiments i've been doing lately there are a lot more pulls. imo neither ti stem is good without a mouthpiece. either glass is ok.

So I guess it depends a bit on your personal vaping style, hope some of this is helpful!

Yeah, thanks for all that, and from the sound of it I'm going to be happier with the long glass then!
Cheers!

Do you hre the PH or Walnut? Some of the messages here seem to say the PH runs much hotter.

Walnut from a few years back.

For more context: I typically have the dial set around 4-5. I use a High Artisan stem, don't temp step and usually take 3 hits per load before discarding the abv. I grow my own so always have an abundance of good flower with the right moisture content.

yeah probably the smart play if there isn't any 10% codes or other applicable things to make it close to same as that sale price

what's the lineage been between TM/TM2/TM.PH? seems they are on model 3 in year what 6? so 1 every 2 years.. did the PH come out over a year ago now?

The PH has been out for more than a year now.

I have had my TM2 OG, with the button repair done for 2 years now. It's the last of the TM 2's with a 10 year warranty.

It works well for my needs.

It's not that simple, there have been rolling upgrades, throughout, so the only real distinction is between TM and TM2, there is no TM3... (like Purpleheart only has two minor differences from current Walnut TM)

^yeah figured that might be the case, didn't think it was like "hey it's september, new vape time" but with PH having what appears to be 11-13 months on it at this point if/what/when the next model comes out is in my thought process though it seems they have dialed the device in pretty well... for those of you all having had TM/TM2 etc, what would you folks want to/expect to see in the next version

The purple heart actually took a long time to bring to fruition specifically because that wood was tricky to prep, so the incremental changes just happened to coincide, some aren't necessarily better per se either... If you can search, this question is also asked every once in awhile so you'll find more answers

Hi friends! I have been experimenting with temperature stepping bowls and have a few questions. My normal usage pattern is to take a fully charged phtm and few dosing caps on the go and set the tm to 7. Stealth is a priority and i generally take one puff at a time while out and about. i get 2 solid tasty hits, then a few cleanup hits. As a dosing cap user i used the size of the bowl set for a dosing cap as a starting point for loose herb. I'm guessing it holds about 2x caps worth, maybe .15-.2g. I start as low as i can (my tm blinks lights at me below about 1.5-2 for some reason). I find that it takes about 2-3 puffs each time since all the material has to heat to the low temp. The hits are pretty thin, but very tasty and get the job done. By the time i'm done around 3 or 4 i find that there is not much at the higher temps that is enjoyable, which on its own is a revelation and is leading me to dial back the temp on my other devices. i have tried loading larger bowls, up to 2 dosing caps space in the stem to see if maybe i can take fewer puffs. it didn't seem to be effective. I notice that while normally a 55mm glass or ti stem with a few balls is a good fit for me, while temp stepping significantly more cooling is needed for the 2-4 puffs each time. I have actually just asked Ed to make me a 55mm wood stem to see if that is usable for temp stepping on the go. The 55mm glass stems are, but i feel nervous taking a glass stem on a pocket device with no case and both my 55 and 80mm ti stems get too hot. I also notice that clearing a bowl will go through half a battery.

Does this sound right to you all? When you pack a temp stepping bowl is it larger than a normal bowl for you?

For some reason, my TM flashes below 1.5-2
This is the safety feature to prevent the TM from being switched on accidentally. As soon as you switch on the TM, you can also turn it below the value and use the temperature. To avoid this, you can also calibrate the device lower, especially if you do not need the high temperatures.

I also use low temperatures, higher temperatures don't bring much more but the taste is much worse. I find metal (dosing capsule/Ti-Stem) robs energy and you need higher temperatures than with glass.

thanks! its as you say, i turned it on at 3 and was able to turn it lower. thanks! i think i recall seeing something about setting it to 0 as a safety. So apparently setting it between 0-1.5 or 2 is the safety.

Got a PH TM2 during the recent sale and I'm loving it with the rocket xl stem from vgoodiez. Waiting for the t bowl to come back in stock to throw it on a j hook I have!

I've noticed that using a basket screen helps with an even roast. Does anyone know of any 'deeper' basket screens than the ones on vgoodiez? Ideally would love to be able to take advantage of the extra depth on the stem with a larger basket screen pack.
Thank you for your support I hope you are enjoying it!

I'm not familiar with any deeper basket screens although I think it's a a good idea. Something I might explore with our supplier. Closest thing I can think of would be ELB's (easy load basket) from VapeXhale but unfortunately those are long gone. I think we were some of the last suppliers to have those still in stock and they've been off of our store for years now. I don't think they would fit in the rocket stem anyway but I used to use them for other stem fill vapes

Also we received a shipment from Thailand today so we have all versions of the TMB back in stock but some of the variants are rather limited. We only got a handful of the Titanium this go around.

Grabbed a stainless steel bowl earlier but now I'm really considering grabbing one of the titanium while they are available? Thinking the ti will hold heat better and maybe help with an even better roast, etc.

Would def be VERY interested in the deeper (and slightly wider?) basket screens!

I made a TM2 stem for myself that I'm really proud of and want to share. This much metal and size and fins are totally overkill to chill vapor and heatsoak from the TM2 in my usage, but I wanted to match the bulky design of the device. The purpleheart wood continues to be stunning, and the TM2 function is awesome.

Seriously, having a near instant on demand device that hits like this is such a luxury. I've even started backing temps down to 7, and still get great vapor production. It's fun to load a stem and then grab it for a nip here and there throughout the day. I never have to stir unless I really want to for a final toasty draw, but appreciate the built in stir stick all the same.

If you mean 'share', as in, 'willing to make more and sell them to others'... I'm in line, as of this writing.

When I first saw your pics, I instantly envisioned (and virtually felt!) a blistered pair of lips on my end. However, your statement that you're 'turning down to 7' suggests that heat is no issue at all. I run at 8.5.

I plan to use mine in a mobile environment / on the go, now that I've had mine for a couple of weeks and dialed it in for my needs.

So... while I enjoy my current stems for the most part, it would be a problem if I were to drop the unit and break them. This looks perfect, at least for the stem... now, how about some 'body armor' with an internal shock cushioning system for the entire unit? :lmao:
(Just kidding... I'd carry the thing in a Pelican case, if I had to worry that much about it.)

(on edit: after looking up maremaresing's profile, it turns out this is something he's been working on bringing to market, and he has a thread which I'll link to HERE

(Can't delete this post, so I'll save OC the trouble of a big reply. Also, for those of us who've responded positively... DO follow that link; you'll be very happy you did).

Actually, @maremaresing , now that I think about just what's been potentially created here... how about some pics with this beautiful new stem, removed from the heater unit, for us to see?

If you haven't guessed, I'm already thinking about (potential / optimal) bowl size, etc. Lol. Or does this thing of wonder simply 'cap over' the stock TM2 stem, with its own adjust-a-bowl? Which would be fantastic, as well, tbh.
