or maybe the 1001th???
Did I read that the 1000th message gets a free Evo LV in that amazing new black finish??? :-O
there is one area i am still a little confused about: the difference between the 2 voltages. whilst i had planned on the 6v is there any benefit to going for LV version?
TIA
Really though, I am still finding myself thinking about trying the T1 attachment. I know it is not necessary, but after using the Evo, I am so curious about how the T1 works in comparison.
Good idea, my switch gets really hot sometimes, would it be possible to make a small pad that presses in through a couple of holes in the existing sleeve design, that gives a thumb pad of derlin shouldn't interfere with the function this way.
ive got some really nice adhesive backed textured rubber sheets that i used to wrap my Detonator. looks great and keeps the heat of the Detonator tube inside very well.
Sounds like a good plan from a user standpoint, but consider it's a very very bad idea from the battery's point of view. Insulating it in any way will make it get still hotter, and heat, more than anything else, is going to kill it. I forget the numbers but it's something like 8 or 10 degrees rise past a certain point that cuts your lifespan in half.

good call. what about adding more ventilation holes then...?
More? There are some? Great. I don't have that unit, but didn't notice them in the photos. Just remember you need upper and lower ones of more or less equal size and a clear path between them. I suspect the battery blocks the path? Perhaps you could groove the inner wall of the tube?

first off i would like to thank everyone who has contributed to this thread. there is a ton of info here to process thats helps the like of me find out about products i will never see in person before purchase. i am in the process of clearing up some ordering issues (problems processing my address) with TV before ordering (yes you guessed it) a black EVO. will be adding a dart and extra batteries to the base unit as well.

there are two holes on the bottom of the batt tube. both larger than the single hole on the TV batt sleeve.
Careful. Small gas vents in the bottom don't qualify and ventilation, there's no net air movement through them. Useless from a heat standpoint. To work there you need exhaust vents, a path between and temperature differential to drive it with. You basically have none of that working for you yet.
The T1 is counting on having a hot surface in the window to get rid of the heat before it really makes things bad. There are all sorts of options in the area, I think TV has explored them. I don't think more insulation is the answer.
Fun stuff, few easy answers.

i see. do you think putting a quarter sized piece of rubber on the sleeve (thumb pad) would make a big difference? enough to affect cell performance or life?
Can't tell you about big, but it's basically a surface area thing, degrade a third the surface to half value and you've lost 1/6, the new rise will be something less than 20% bigger because of the change. If only half the total heat made it out that way (out the window area some how) it's 'only' going up 10%. Sure, if it was an issue before (heat cutting lifespan), it's a bigger one now. Performance (mAh capacity) tends to drop over the lifespan, but not linearly. It falls off faster later in life.....as do we all....

the only problem i see with that is that the derlin pad would stop the sleeve from being inserted or removed from the handle... due to the derlins thickness. that is why i was thinking the sleeve itself could be made of derlin.
So I popped in a fresh charged set of 3.0's and put my 510 threaded voltage reader on top, and got 6.9v reading.
explain, give it 10 seconds...plz
no, I mean explain what you mean for me to do... put the cart on there and run it for 10 seconds, or what?
