Wow. Stuff seems to happen to you around cleanings?? I fouled one out once on some nasty ISO oil and it wouldn't clean up or play well. I finally gave it several 3 minute rides in the ultrasonic sink and all was forgiven. I figured I got some wax or other heavy junk in there below the plate and it never got washed out. If you don't have an ultrasonic available, how about an overnight soak in the strongest ISO you have? Can't hurt, might help......

Here's an old thought: If you're getting loaded, so what if you don't look good doing it? I think too many guys think big clouds are real and mean something special. Depending on light and other conditions I can blow lovely clouds that do very little or nearly invisible ones that make your head swim.

OF

I'm going to follow your previous chain of thought... The battery compartment has always been super sticky - sometimes impossible to push up with one hand.... Im starting to wonder if my issues have been a dirty/bad bottom creating odd performance...

I can just iso the whole bottom (sans batteries heheh) right? Then boil?

just had a random thought... a way to turn the white cap black... heat shrink tubing? would that work or is that stuff too toxic? Only used on the outside of course...

i too was thinking about using heat shrink on the teflon sleeve, but more for heat retention rather than esthetics. would probably work pretty well for that application. plus you can get heat shrink in an assortment of colors.

to those of you with full TV units... how hot does your TV base get when sessioning?

my current device gets damn hot... the button... all of it. im looking to upgrade to a new device and keep coming back to the TV stuff.

Ah, so! If this is based on e-cig experience, now it makes sense. No doubt about it those guys can be pure junk sometimes. Their batteries the cheapest POS that will store electrons. Some are, of course, better than others. Not so IMR chemistry batteries in general. They are safe enough to not need protection. And the AW version (the factory battery) is the best of the lot (which is why THC uses 'em too....).

You'll like yours when you get it, don't worry.

OF
Actually up until last week I'd only ever used AW IMRs and started with a 14500. I hate those small battery ecigs and vape like a fiend. I'm lying, my first mod came with CR2s for 6V, those batts died after about two weeks of use. Heh.

Quite frankly I think the Evolution looks fucking awesome and I'm excited to get one. It's in the margins on a 14500. The size difference between a 14500 mod and a 17670 (or preferably 18650 tbh) looks bigger in photos than it feels in your hand or pocket. For me, the performance advantage of the larger batteries far outweighs the size difference. Others may choose smaller size, it's a personal decision I guess.

I'm curious if anyone has both an Ultra and a UltraMax/Revolution to compare the performance of the Evo LV on different batteries. I will be surprised if there isn't a noticeable difference. It'd be nice to see loaded volts but most people don't have an adapter to measure it.

Come on thermovape give us a clue of whats coming next? I'm tempted to order the evolution full kit to get the LV, but I'm scared to order when I know you will be announcing something soon, and my guess is its a way to increase number of hits, something I definitely want. If I knew what was about to drop I'd have more confidence in ordering or not

i cant wait either...

i would be surprised if this new unit did not accept an 18650 cell. until then im holding off on any purchases.

The names confuse me sometimes but if you're asking do I have the 14500 and 17670 based supplies from TV, yes I do. And while I don't have two Evolutions to do A/B testing with it's my opinion that they both work about the same. There's more variation hit to hit than between them on average. The 17670 just does it a lot longer, and it heats up slower (the battery, not the bowl). In use you overdrive the heater and 'waste' extra power there. There's plenty of heat there for our needs in either case. IMO this is a personal 'topping up' vape. Not the one for sitting down to a record setting session with friends or even alone. No matter what battery.

get it from mcmaster carr... cheaper although i do love Grainger

http://www.mcmaster.com/#food-grade-heat-shrink-tubing/=h9kto3

check out the temps though... only good up to 250 degF. i wonder how hot the outside of the sleeve gets...

also i dont think that size is large enough to slide over the sleeve. need something with an ID of at least .5" before shrinking.

I'm kind of in the same place. I was thinking of ordering one tonight with the hopes that it will be here by next weekend for the Roger Waters concert. But I just KNOW the second I do it, TV is going to come on here with some grand announcement that they have modified the battery to get extended use.

Since we are talking tubing, the soft high-temp silicone in the right diameter might also be an easy way to further insulate your cap, and change the color, they have it in black, red, blue and white
http://www.mcmaster.com/#catalog/116/121/=h9l23g it also makes good whip tubing. I just ordered some recently, but it's too small for the sleeve. Think 1/2" ID is big enough? It does stretch a bit.

I got an email from TV saying it might be a month or longer before the new battery chamber is ready, but that doesn't mean much, it was not a definite yes or no, it was a most likely... sorry for the double post...d'oh!

Since I don't understand the math behind this can anyone verify this? OF? TV Tim?

Also I am just double checking what I read earlier in the thread, with the UltraFire chrager I should have green lights when no battery is inserted, Red when charging and Green again when fully charged, not all green all the time?

The independence of the core can vary a lot with the temperature and the humidity of the environment, our primary focus is the final wattage of he element. Our test rig fires the core to a specified voltage to get the wire to operating temperature, then we read the amperage that the core is drawing, then calculate the wattage with "Ohms Law" This gives us an extremely accurate reading on how the core is running and eliminates any variation with temperature or humidity.

@Killface

It might set off the over-current protection in your ProVari before you can turn it up enough to get it to operating temp.

Until TV tells us what the impedance specs are on these things we're in the dark about cross compatibility. Any mod with a switch is going to be suspect to not working, because apparently few mods have switches that can take the current load needed to run the Evo. It seems like TV has avoided this by eliminating the switch in favor of manually connecting the battery with the sliding carrier system.

To give a ball-park figure on the Evolutions resistance; the standard model is about 2.0 Ohms, the LV model is about .9 Ohms. These readings are tested within a narrow window of conditions and each reading is tested two times before the unit is put onto the production line.

That was my own o-ring. Email TV to get one for free if yours did not come with one. I am not sure how to get consistent big hits. I pulled pretty hard in the video, alot harder than with the dart or omi carts. I also held it on the entire time. It was pretty good stuff also. I have not had a chance to play with it much.

When using the Oring (which isn't required for optimal vaporazation) you may notice it can slide down the core, if you have this happening just spin the insulator cap as your installing it on the Evo core.

You have the right of it with the batteries & charger. The right side of my charger stays green no matter what. The left side appears to be working. Then there is the batteries one of them seems to not charge. When placed in the charger the light stays green no matter which side, but it does not power my Alpha.

*Sigh*

I've been emailing TV so we'll see what happens.

Please contact us at Sales@thermovape.com and we can take care of your warranty needs.

I never even thought about that, I even have some shrink wrap in the tool box. I don't know about the toxicity of it and would not recommend it until that gets figured out.

regarding the o-rings... anyone know the size specifically? or dash #?

here is a good place to get them
http://www.mcmaster.com/#o-rings/=h9kevv

I don't have the specs of the O-ring on me right now, but I will take a look tomorrow and give you some specs. I do know that the O-ring is made of a high temperature neoprene and can withstand the temperature of the core without an issue.

We are still in the preliminary stages of the 18650 battery setup, however this should not be to hold of on your purchase.

All of our products are backwards compatible, our T1 battery sleeve will work with the Revolution Battery and vice versa. The 18650 battery will be modular with all of our devices and would be a very simple upgrade to add that comparability.

At ThermoVape we fully believe in keeping our early adopters, all of our new divices will work on the same battery and main body. When we have upgraded main bodys those will also work on our pre-existing interfaces.

Cheers,

Tim

I'm a lot more comfortable with a 0.9ohm load on an AW IMR 14500 than my calculated 0.7 ohms. Cool!

Great Scott!
Tim are you saying that I'll eventually be able to use a 18650 in my T1 if all goes well?

I just ordered the smooth flow and hope I like it more than the Pure Flow (probably not the best match for my T1). I wish I could have or try all of your products. I feel like an Apple fanboi when you release a new product, I find myself wanting it just because.

...there is food grade shrink tubing out there, I was just doing a search on it. It's not a big deal, just kinda popped into my head, and got some gears turning. I do prefer black over white, when it comes to something that will discolor over time/use

Then whatever you do, don't do the math.....

You're right. I think Tim mistakenly quoted you the 15 Watt value. That's only 4 and a bit Amps, not 5.4.

Ya gotta question 'facts' that don't fit.......

We use a voltage towards the peek charge on the batteries closer to 4.1 volts. We must build the cores so they are "optimal" temp and cool off from there. If we do it the other way there would be a ton of combustion when its super hot on a fresh charge.

Just ordered 2ft. of High-Temperature Silicone Rubber Tubing Soft, 5/8" ID, 3/4" OD, 1/16" Wall, Black to see how that works on the outside of the sleeve.

anyone know if the Evo kit will be compatible with the T1 top, if I chose to add it later on? I have the feeling the answer is yes, but just want to be sure.

This is really great news. My T1 loves me, and I love my T1, except for the fact that I have to carry a duffel bag full of Tenergy LiFePO4 batteries around with me. While the EV had me excited for a moment, I realize that I don't need a smaller core and a smaller "bowl", I just want a better battery solution.

I assume I'm going to have to spring for a LV T1 core. Oh wait, you never officially mentioned a LV T1 core. I think maybe OF mentioned he had a dream about one, or something like that, in a previous message. So anyway, if there were a LV T1 core, and it were being powered by an 18650 that had big balls (3Ah) and could safely supply discharge currents of 8 to 10 amps, (we're talking about 10+ watt hours), do you think preliminary testing would show a close to three times improvement in battery life compared to a standard (current) T1?

And when can I order one? (I've already ordered my 1/3 size duffel bag). ;)

Really liking the smooth flow on the Evolution but my favorite is using it on my Revolution. I replaced the smooth flow tip with the Rev tip and this produces really nice hits.

Alright, here is my take one the LV, no candy coated bs here. My first couple wacks at ended up in frustration, 18650 TF(2300mah) was the culprit along with a virgin TV product owner. I refined my draw tech, as I do w/every new vape, got a battery spacer so i could run my 18350 AW IMR's, and got down to testing...

I got it going good w/18350 IMR's, but on 2 separate tests in a row(well after charging) I got 4.25 loads w/.4g's meds vaped, 22 pulls(moderate clouds, i fit .1 or less in each load)on TWO IMR AW 18350's. It did the job well, I will not deny that, but each test took 30min+/- and I don't have that kind of time. I think their "50 pulls" on a 17-@#, is very heavily scewed, and is very subjective to how one uses it, I tend run my vapes hard, and this isn't that possible with the heat this puts out. I think my 2 18350's have got to be pretty equivalent to their 17#@#, I could be wrong though, I am a lot. Now I've never used a T1(to many batteriesforme), I see no better utilization of heat/power deployed here. Just scaled down, so warmup time is longer, and any "extra" power saved from LV, is wasted on warm up time. Sounds like the TV power units "MAY" get hotter than my Persei, witch gets pretty hot after 3-4 pulls. It doesn't bother me "much",but my lady with MS could never handle it, which is who these tools "unofficial" are ment for. I wasn't expecting miricles, but extra batt life would have been nice. I could get all day @work w/MFLB and 2 AA's, with 2 @ home on the charger, I'm not about to be going to take 2-3 18650's or 4-6 18350's out and about. It really can be pleasurable w/the right technique, time and plenty of batteries, but it should be known that battery life probably isn't any better than the T1/6vEvo due to extended warm up time. With all that said, I do really like my smooth flow a lot, and plan on someday trying(buying/Trading) the LV Dart, but I don't plan on keeping this LV EVO any longer, its just not for me. The craftsmanship is great, materials seem very quality, you can get moderate clouds, but expect a very hot hand and a lot of batteries in your fanny pack(OF, I'm looking at you). That's it, please don't burn me at the stake, as these are my honest opinions and I tried my darndest to keep a clear, unbiased head throughout trials. Sorry it didn't work out EVO, "it not you, its me", maybe your sister the Dart will suit me better?? Or not who knows.

Jam..... do you really think so? I think the Evo really covers the LV niche well. An LV T1 seems like overkill to me.

maybe so, but if batteries continue to improve, it might not be a bad thing to have. It's just fantasy right now anyway :p

so what is the deal with the 18650 battery, is it too big, or small for the battery chamber on the Evo-LV?
