That is my method as well. I also do not wan to go to fine to prevent any bits from falling through, even though the holes are fairly small.
i agree with this. those holes are small, but if grinded too fine bit will easily make their way into there. but i think we are good w/out a fine grind in this application. similar to how the Solo can so evenly brown flowers with minimal break up or grind. my next test is going to be with a pretty course grind.
ok so my 17670s arrived today and i just got home. opened them up, popped one into my Detonator filled and attached Evo and began to warm it. i waiting exactly 15 seconds and slowly started to pull. this time i was getting visible vapor on inhale, but not much on exhale. about 30 seconds later i hit the button again, this time waiting about 8 or 10 secs and slowly started to pull. then i remembered to start pulling harder after the initial slow pull. and boy did this produce great results. i was blowing out nice little clouds. nothing lung busting, but more than enough for its purpose. i am extremely excited about this puppy. it appears that it can be as efficient as a log vape if used a certain way. which IMO is great. this is a personal little beast of a vape. bravo TV!
my only gripe is that after the unit gets hot the teflon sleeve becomes very loose. in fact the mouth piece was stuck to my lip after a pull and the whole sleeve came off when lowering the device from my mouth. kinda like how a cig can get stuck on your lip... anyway... if i would have turned it upside down the sleeve would have just fallen off. this is a problem IMO. still only a small problem and easily fixable for future releases from TV, but it does kinda suck.
my suggestion would be to thread the sleeve and tube with a nice big course threading. maybe a 1/2 turn or even just 1 full turn. then it would not pop off when hot. i also think something like this should be incorporated into the Dart design. threading the dabber/top onto the core would be better than the current 510 drip tip style coupling.
addressing the sleeve coming off and even the heat reducing teflon adapter that someone else mentioned earlier (to keep the battery device from getting hot), would be on point. again TV bravo on this Evo. its amazing and only going to get better im sure.
