The WOODEN Vaporizer Thread

Call my high maintenance, but I'm really looking for a custom one, that fits exactly what I need, and is made from some nice exotic wood :D
I would personally hit Doug up at Doug's woodery. Guy is massively underrated and sells his work at a fair price. He sells session trays and already told me he would be happy to modify one based on my needs.

Top, Dreamwood Double Punch, essentially a Dobby modified to convert to a Punch with a bent stem in the plugged hole on top. Below, OWW v3 Micro (I believe the v4 is similar in size and shape). The Micro is taller, thicker, but not quite as long. The 'Dobby' is slimmer, shorter, and longer (shown stem not the actual Dobby stem, but about the same length).

The Dobby's stem slides most of the way into the body and the heat intake fits into the main cavity between halves. Even with the intake in place it'll slide in and out of you back pocket or shirt pocket. The v4 Micro has a shell shaped like the v3's body with a small vapor pipe as the base.

Either are half the size of a Junior or Nova.
Hi i want to order one but Im worried about customs. How did this work for you

I'm not sure exactly what's involved for other countries but in the US the only real challenge has been waiting for processing through Frankfurt (I think). It usually parks there for some time but once okayed it's smooth sailing. Never any issue getting through NY.

Oh I think they know what it is haha, but since it's unused there's nothing illegal about it. I'm waiting for mine to clear US customs right now. Only took 4-5 days from Frankfurt to New York for my order. Should be another day or 2 at most before they send it along, not worried at all. I've never had them take anything or hold anything for extended periods.

edit: And speak of the Devil, it has arrived at one of my local distribution centers. No outgoing scan from Customs this time. Should have it within the next couple days.

My order came in today. I'm extremely impressed with the Dobby, it really is just a tiny little thing! Very intuitive heating and super smooth. I took a few pictures of it next to my matching Zebrano Vapman 2.0/Vapcase:
Definitely pocketable dimensions for me. Can't find anything about it that I would call second quality!
That's awesome!

How do you feel about the short piece of glass that is extruding the unit? This is the reason I have not bought one, being worried it might chip or break on the go.

Curious about your thoughts

Yeah that piece is definitely going to be a little delicate. I wouldn't feel worried about it in my pocket with my phone, but I would be careful about bumping into or leaning against things with it. I wouldn't want to put it in a bag with a bunch of other stuff clunking against it without a case or something. They do also make wooden mouthpieces for the Dobby. I'm somewhat regretting not getting one.

The micro uses its poker to protect the glass:

Maybe you could hollow out a cork to protect it from chipping, at least? Or maybe a silicone cap of some sort? the piece sticking out is short enough that I wouldn't expect it to shear under normal circumstances.

I recently received my GTRs and I've showed off my Maple burl in that thread but I wanted to show my workhorse Cherry GTR. This GTR is an 18mm female Stainless Steel heater, intended to be my porch log/travel roaster. Truth is it gets as much play as the Maple because the performance is superb and this less-expensive domestic wood log is gorgeous; the piece of wood Alan chose has a ton of character and would be premium in any other shop. While the pics don't do it justice, I hope it will inspire people to look into these amazing roasters, join the list, and have yourself a wonderful time when it's your turn! What makes them special is they're very powerful and very open, so you can turn up and do incredibly tasty lung-busters on recyclers. They're just as comfortable on small rigs or j-hooks. Go-To Roaster, indeed!
