The Tempest by Mad Heaters & Phatpiggie

It’s just one of the complete devices for now. Upgrade kits and other accessories will be available at release.

Yes, that discount will remain. 20% off on the Reload. I don’t have many left and the new batch might slightly delay the release, as I don’t want to launch without Reloads. :(
Dug through the forum and found this post : Any update on this @Brenyo ? Cheers !

Oh, the C shape is for the bowl, thought that it was for screwing in the wand adaptor - thanks, I'll try that right away!

Yea tried it with the CU, it worked but kinda deformed it a bit too much for my liking ( rolled it flat with the reload )

Yea its the screw, but no matter how much i tighten it, when it gets warm it seems it still spins on it a bit, I now have a scratched middle circle of the magnet on the reload to prove it haha.

Thanks!

Works like a charm! perfect! i wondered that the lines were on the condenser, i love it!

EDIT: ok that took a minute to compile but i got it, pictures for others to understand easier:

Is this the only way to take the bowl off? I just received my Tempest 2, and struggling to figure out how to get the bowl off, for cleaning and to adjust the bowl size.

I also didn't get a black C tool, but a stainless steel one, are they the same tool?

Thanks for the help, and if anyone has a video of this process it could be helpful!

Very interesting, could you post a picture of the C tool?

The bowl should just pull away from the stem?

Here's the only thing I see that looks similar.

Also I didn't get a rubber band for the wand adapter, I imagine I can use any one?
Thank you for uploading! That looks like the C tool for setting the bowl depth. The ones we've seen so far have been 3d printed, so it's good to see a proper version! I didn't get either version and it is a bit fiddly to adjust the bowl without it.

I wonder what the tiny little hole is for 🤔 for putting it on a keyring maybe?

And yes, I think any rubber band will do as long as it holds it nice and firmly.

Thanks, so can I just pull the bowl out, or any idea where I put this C tool?

I'm not sure which page it's on, but there is a guide with picture in this thread.

Thanks, saw those, but still not sure about the steps. Looks like the C is at the bottom of the condenser, not following how having it at the bottom where the lines are help to pull the bowl out?

Can i just pull the bowl straight out of the condenser?

i got the same one. the rubber band came in an extra plastic bag together with the white plastic (? or whatever material that is) disc insert for the adapter. was wrapped around that disc, so hard to see at first.

You can indeed just pull it straight out. It's held in by two o rings.

Well I got my Tempest 2 and tried it out - wow, just wow.

T1 was excellent, but T2 is an upgrade in every way. The T1 had a couple shortcomings - only a couple - and it appears @Brenyo fixed every single one, and then some.

The ball retaining screen is much easier to use, the wand adaptor is more precise, heat-up is faster, heat retention is much longer, flow rate is much higher, drawing is idiot proof, and the roast is super consistent through the bowl - no char at all for me.

Overall the T2 is a lot more user-friendly. The device truly achieves the goal of a full extraction in one cycle.

Anyone reading this - get one!

can someone enlighten me on how to set the "Airflow Tube options" on the v2? does it even still have 3, like the v1 or was it reduced to open and closed/bypass(?) only? sorry if its a stupid question, but its my first full device.

I have been refusing to use the plastic one because I’m crazy so this is great to see. Also for the rubber band try using a ranger band instead. It doesn’t fit in the grooves but it holds it tightly against the wand. Also put one around my tempest 1 wand stand and now my wand has a nice rubbery grip when I put it down.

Airflow is much simpler on the V2, it's just the adjustable airflows on the cap and then the rush hole open or closed.

Adjust the airflow in the cap by releasing the screw enough to twist the ss sleeve. As you turn the sleeve the air holes will open and close. Set to desired position and hold in place as you tighten the screw.

The airflow in the stem is also adjustable thanks to the teardrop shape. Unscrew the mouthpiece enough to twist the stem within the sleeve. Hold in place and re-tighten when set. The dot on the 'neck' of the stem also helps show the position.

Hope this helps 👍🏻

i only ever paid attention to the updates/differences of the head, since thats the only thing i own of the v1. so thanks for clearing that up!

edit: is there any trick that helps with loosening the screw on the head? mine wont move a bit. i just double checked with my v1 head. i can loosen that one quite easily, but the one on the v2 seems to be stuck or i am just too weak.

My V2 arrived today.
Canadian customs ravaged the package. The box looked like an old hockey mit. Ace Ventura level of 📦 smash. All the contents had been opened.

Lots of goodies thrown in as stated by others. Really cool to do this.

This thing is beautiful. Did a quick clean and didn't find any machine oil.
Tried the first few bowls with the induction heater. Dont mind the adaptor. Dont like it being plastic but I'm over it.

I found the screw on the top to be a bit tight but I was just afraid to apply force. The threads seem luxury watch quality good. Really felt premium. Thanks for the tips above about opening airways.
Im liking the cap 1/2ish open and the stem closed with the wand set to 310.

Great results. It seems like it tastes better after every use. Good flavour and good clouds. Feels great on the hand too.

Lots more experimenting to be had.

Overall an amazing device. Easily the nicest I've handled in terms of machining and design. I'd prefer that things were manufactured in the west, but this is great work (I am in no way an athority in machining, just looks, feels and operates very nicely). I wonder how much the price would jump if it was.

I hope that these are accessible and available to everyone at some point. A great device that I hope is shared with anyone who wants one.

Any tips on how on how to set the screen back in to a lower position?

All of these comments are really selling me on it. i really wish I knew before the pre order first dropped. The titanium is stunning. I missed a V2 for sale on the exchange by a few hours and am kicking myself over it and crossing my fingers someone else lists one haha.

ok, i just successfully unscrewed it. turns out i used the wrong tool. i tried it with a precision mechanics screwdriver meant for watchmakers. one that has no handle and is obviously not supposed to apply any meaningful force. just went trough my tools again and found one that has a handle and the correct size .. and .. voila .. it worked. so, if you have spaghetti fingers like me, get a proper tool!

Don't want to sound petty, but I stay in the UK and anything manufactured here is manufactured in the West. I was under the impression that Mad Heaters products were all manufactured in the UK. I'm keen to get my hands on one, enjoy your new toy.

It's very clear from this forum and the MH Reddit thread that MH devices are manufactured in China. If they were made in the UK you would be paying at least double the current price 8)

I just got another heat shield, got the factory second black wood, I love it. My plan was to hand sand the factory second so it could fit into my stash. Decided to sand the green wood one instead as I prefer the black one. It's not perfect but it turned out much better then I had expected and more importantly it fits in my stash now
