The Tempest by Mad Heaters & Phatpiggie

I did use the manual

oh this is huge, thanks! I never considered that my wand insert might be the problem. Here is a picture of my tempest in the wand with the vi pointing towards me:

You can see that the VI is completely obscured and useless. What do you think would be a good way for me to get a good wand insert? Do I literally have to buy 3 of them and hope one is good? @Brenyo is this an issue MH is aware of? Do I have any options to get a working wand insert through MH?
Try drawing on the device about 9-10 seconds while in the wand. The Tempest is very easy and consistent to gauge extraction strength this way. I do it all the time when looking through the adaptor is tricky.

Revolve gen 2, just wanted the full tempest experience with the heat shield. thankfully got a factory second right after i posted this.
FYI: I've found the wood sleeve's work really well with the Revolve2 + Tempest head & bowl and so little difference from a wood Tempest it's not worth mentioning (says he, while mentioning it).

Very late to the party but I am a week old very happy tempest owner
Flame only-On a revolve 2 with a home made thin leather band to insulate
Using a spyderco equilibrium mini knife as a madheaters magnet support, lazy to post pictures but it works/looks very nice and because the knife scales are magnetic steel it is a good heat sink

images

It is by far the best engineered mechanical vape I own and for now the best tasting one if you like thick vapor
Not personally into sipping though, and tolerance is kind of spiking as the use is so easy and satisfying 😅

Get a Reload Gen 2. It’s made my sessions so much more convenient. I bought it with a “this thing seems pretty cool” mindset, but after using it, I wish I had gotten one sooner.

I read about and if it was available in eu in silver I would have bought it already

Tbh I kind of prefer jyarz glass lining for storage though, and I discard abv

i am a fan of the design and convenience of the reload system as long as i am straw loading full / half bowls. I frequently pack less than that with a steel microdose scoop and don't feel great about using it on the aluminum reload, even anodized. i ditched aluminum everywhere else in my life a long time ago. If they make a reload in titanium it would probably replace all my glass jars at home! right now i'm not using the reload and am just traveling with glass jars.

Ok I understand that. I also agree my packs are for sure loser from the reload over scooping it in.

It would ship around the end of the week, and there will be more color options soon.

The bearing in the MP melted unfortunately, you can likely use it without spinning. If you can remove all the melted plastic, then you can either get a POM bearing from the website or, if it won't come out, a new MP.
So I ordered a new MP, but the plastic wont come off the old MP and the stem is still stuck in there. I would need to order a new stem as well?

Good morning! I’ve got a factory second tempest arriving today. I was wondering what you all do for an initial cleaning / burnoff? On my existing head I just used iso but am learning about ballvape burnoffs a couple hundred degrees hotter than vape temps.

Also, i exchanged some emails with MH and they said that there would be upgrade kits available for the current units to make them into tempest 2s! This is good news for me because i was considering selling the new tempest and waiting for the 2. There will be no upgrade to the xl though.

Has there been much info out about the 2 and XL? I have been tracking this thread and havent seen much. MH doesnt have a discord right?

Just do a couple dry heating sessions, the cap should be good. I'd wash the bowl and stem though.

I haven't seen anything either except that they will come to be.

Yea, I’d assume a new direct or helix tube will be needed if you can’t remove it from the mouthpiece. My upgrade kit came with an extra MP without that plastic bearing. Works just fine like the others 🤷🏼‍♂️

You only need to heat it a little above the highest temperature you're likely to ever use, I'd go for maybe 20℃ over rather than 200℃, since you'll never get anywhere near those higher temps when using it hence it would never off-gas anything that needs those very high temps.

Heat the mouthpiece slowly with the Wand until the plastic softens, then pull it apart from the CU. You should be able to remove all the plastic this way.

All the plastic melted but the stem is still not coming apart. Would i need another POM bearing?

When I got mine, I broke it down and soaked the whole thing in iso for like an hour, rinsed it with hot water, let it sit out unassembled (I didn’t disassemble the head though) to dry, then heated it up in the Wand while empty. Good enough for me and haven’t had any taste issues or anything.

You mean that the airflow tube + mouthpiece is not coming off from the cooling unit? It’s probably the o-ring that holds the airflow tube, try to heat it at the adjustment ring. If you can save the metal parts and remove the plastic, then it’s only a new POM bearing.

Couldn't find a Revolve specific thread so I'll ask here. I cleaned my Revolve and took out the secondary cooling spiral in the mouthtip, and now when I put it in it just falls right out. What the heck am I doing wrong, it has to "lock" into place somehow, no?? Thanks.

I believe you’re missing the oring that retains the spiral, if it’s the whole mp part you’re missing the oring at the top inside the main cooling part it retains the mp.

Bingo!!! Man, thank you guys, really appreciate the quick come through!! It was driving me crazy, I knew those slits had to do something. The o-ring had fallen into that little notch a little bit below where it goes. I assumed that o-ring was holding the mouthpiece in place.....and it was.......and it still is, but now in the correct place!
