The Tempest by Mad Heaters & Phatpiggie

Half bowl boro balls for me. Full bowl I couldn’t overpack. Half bowl I can stuff to my hearts desire AND get better results

I had only had my Tempest a few weeks the first time I tried Boro and, I really didn't like them!

I kept scorching the top of my bowl.

I gave them another go a week ago, and after dialling back the heat a bit I'm really liking them!

I use a mini globe bong a lot, and Boro really milk up the bong. I can get now get 2 cycles from a 1/2 bowl and still leave the AVB a nice light colour

Using different balls side by side i now ended up using rubies more with the torch and the zirc in the wand.
i feel rubies, especially using 2.0mm take too much power with the wand but heat up really nice with the torch, probably due to their higher thermal conductivity.
Point of this posting, different heat sources also make a difference where which balls shine.
id guess SIC will do nice with torch too

General Disaster

Of cabbages and Kings.
does closing the air ports on the head make it hit more restrictive/hotter too? I like dtl too
Personally I find more air going through at a decent rate (suckin' a little hard, not very slowly or it cools too fast for it to heat up more) will raise the temps, so the airflow control will effect it. But this also depends on the ball type, the temperature, how densely the bowl is packed, but in the end all the factors go together to effect the final temp, never just one thing of course.

Think of it this way, you fill the cap with calories of heat, essentially a certain amount of energy. That heat/energy is than transferred from cap to bowl through using air as a form of transmitting that heat, so as you draw on it, the air enters the cap, takes heat from the balls and metal housing, then that now hot air travels to the bowl and some of that heat is deposited in the bowl metal, and the weed inside it. Some of the heat transfers to the oils in the plant material causing them to vapourise and so on. I'm sure this isn't rocket science to you, but the point is that the speed and volume of air allowed to travel through the cap will effect how much heat is transferred to bowl per second. Whatever will effect that airflow will effect the temperature in the bowl - more air per second = more heat per second. Hope that makes sense.

Try setting your vape up as you normally do, but then suck real real slow like. You will likely barely get much off it at all (the heat is being lost too fast for the bowl to get hot enough, as it's not being pulled through fast enough, like trying to fill a bucket with water when it has a small hole in the bottom.

Just getting a factory second head-only, but what’s the diameter of the Tempest head at the point where it connects with the stem? In other words, what stems is it compatible with? TIA!
I did same. Had a beta from last Feb, then got a head & bowl when they released last summer, and use it on the Revolve2 I already had from my TA3 head & bowl (which gives off even more heat than a 'pest but stem copes (just)), and it's damn near impossible to tell it apart from a full 'pest, both aesthetically and functionally. In fact it has a tiny bit more function but nothing I would care much about. Both devices work a treat and if you can afford the Revolve I'd strongly recommend it for a short but effective stem (and to make a 'Tempest' out of your head/bowl).

made my first stem using the liner on mad heaters site. Really happy how it turned out. 14/18mm compatible. Purple heart to match my purple tempest.
That's awesome, reminds me of the old darts folk used in the 80's the chunky 'bombers'
Looks brilliant though, good job! 😁
I have the liners, but not much time sadly.
But I have plans, I'd like to do some stabilised wood and stuff like that, I have the vacuum chamber.
I want to show you a shield made by Ts-Woodenart!
That's really slick, really classy looking shield, neat idea 😁

Got this the other day, couldn't resist, I don't drink often now, every time I go to open it, I just think - nah I don't want it 😆

Did you anodize your tempest? I've never seen one that color 😍

I did, it needs a clean though. It's a usually a nice Cadbury purple colour. I did it when I first got it so it's showing a bit of wear now.

Love a bit of anodising. Planning on getting some things in order so I can buy a few raw models in the next batch, to try some new techniques on them.

i forgot to say it has a carbon fiber liner on the lower part to reduce the size and avoid scratches on the coating :D
Also, it is well tight, so it keeps in place. I dont use the oring

wow nice! is he able to make the wood taper to fit 14mm joint? That's what I'm debating on trying to pick up!
I think he wouldn’t have any problem if you told him. looking at the ts-wooden wpa for the fusion…im sure he would make it great
