I agree - lets keep it elsewhere and focus on the vapeSeems like it’s time for a separate shipping thread like other vapes have
Thanks man! I'll give that setting a try tonightSo I have it set to %Bypass" with the Helix tube. This means the vapour is traveling up the primary cooling spiral, without being diluted with air. The air coming through the carb hole instead goes straight to the MP. I turned it further to reduce the amount of air doing this. So in effect it's undiluted vapour, with a touch of fresh air also entering lungs.
I have the air slot on the tip fully open as seen in second pic. You can adjust this to any degree. Could have it 67% closed off if you wanted it.
When you consider how the two adjustable airflow sections combine and compound, it leaves the user with full control. Especially since some airflow settings fundamentally change how the device operates. I feel like I'm no where done experimenting with this.
Welcome mate. I can confirm it's a big step up from Dynavap. I'm someone who loved the ease of use, portability, workflow of the Dynavap. I was a day one Dynavap user since the first glass model, and owned Omni's and Simrell stems etc.Howdy folks, been keeping an eye and ear on the tempest for what seems like a lifetime now, finally remembered/worked out my password for the forum, was trying to reset it ages ago but only just noticed the other day that outlook accounts aren't working with the forum, why I never got my password reset email.....
Anyway, started playing catch up on the thread a few days ago and finally fully read up, just as excited for it as I was months ago if not more.
It's been an enjoyable read so far.
Really like what I've been reading from those that have the device, it sounds like it's exactly what I want. Been using dynavaps for ages and been a supporter of mad since I got the gen 1 just after the initial release.
been on the lookout for a hard hitting device for ages but never spent money on one as there's always something that puts me off, be it a handheld that's just too big to carry around, or a mains unit that needs heated in advance /left powered on etc and as a result, have ended up buying nothing.
Of late my go to has been a 5fin dyna tip with an armoured cap and some extra metal under the CCD to hold the heat for longer, run through a revolve gen 2 stem, it absolutely chucks the clouds out, but I'm after something that's a good step up.
I think that the tempest could be exactly what I'm after.
Really looking forward to the release, it looks mega, love the look of it, looks like a sonic screwdriver from Dr Who HAHA.
I think I'll be going for the standard raaw version and doing my own anodising, because of the different elements and sections, there's a lot that could be done with this I think. If I can afford it I might need more than one to start with so I can do some experimenting with colours.
Good reading all your comments, have a good one folks!
In the scenario no one does, when the postal service decides to deliver it I can compare against most dynavap configshave any of the testers been running it with direct airflow w the spiral? whats the heat like? comparable to armoured cap? more interested in those whome ride the line/aim for 1 hit extracts.
The Direct flow tube is more for using with glass pieces, as it bypass the primary cooling system in the stem. So If using native you would likely be using the Helix tube.have any of the testers been running it with direct airflow w the spiral? whats the heat like? comparable to armoured cap? more interested in those whome ride the line/aim for 1 hit extracts.
The flavour shocked me. My expectations were low due to experience with Dynavap and Anvil, but it's tasty imo. I think it even tastes good at higher temps. It gives the impression that the herb is isolated enough during heat up to protect from a conduction effect cooking off the terps.Just wanted to ask a question for y’all that have had the opportunity to use it, but with all the crazy customization in terms of airflow, curious how the flavor is on the Tempest?
One of the biggest complaints I hear about the reload is it mutes the flavor despite all the cooling.
Since the tempest uses balls and is convection, flavor should still be there or does the airflow options take it away some?
Is this a custom size? Trying to see if my standard screens would fit but looks to fall in between a 3/8” and 1/2” mesh10.25mm
It isIs this a custom size?
Now the fun really begins!Hello @Brenyo
I received the baguette today... obviously
I also put the helix tube back on, I didn't intend to miss out on passage through the cooling system
I especially heard about you for your cooling system... that would be a shame!
for the installation of the silicone and the glass insert, actually, it is not very complex...
I left the glass flush at the bottom red seal. it's correct?
actually, you can see the indicator when you hold the Wand upside down/on its side...
I'm going to get started...
and thank you @RedZep for sharing your "best settings". These are the ones I was aiming for! very cool...
but actually, there are so many settings options that the possibilities are endless... not infinite obviously but too many for me
2 more thoughts...
the vaporizer is so light... every time I pick it up, my brain has to get used to it.
and the other point is a compliment. there are plenty of options and mechanics to play with. I was a little afraid that these were gadgets that weren't necessarily perfectly designed (sorry!)... but we're very far from that!
each mechanism is very, very well thought out and beautifully made...
I really respect and love this work.
another “well done”
This looks awesome. The best pairing of a vape with the wand that I have seen so far. Looks like a perfect fit with super reasonable heat up times. Thanks for sharingHello @Brenyo

LMAO I'm imaging using this thing in the mirror while taking puffs to ride the temp indicator.
Your Tempest looks very nice and sharp!,
Thank you thank you thank you for this reply. The Direct flow tube is more for using with glass pieces, as it bypass the primary cooling system in the stem. So If using native you would likely be using the Helix tube.
If you are actually refering to an airflow setting, I have tried it native using the two main airflow settings ("Open" & "Bypass") and the vapour is comfortable even when doing RTL hits, even while feathering carb hole. I don't have secondary cooling spiral either, which would increase cooling further.
Also to note you said "those who aim for 1hit extracts" the Tempest extracts in a single cycle, and doesn't really need any special technique for this. It just has so much calories/heat capacity when up to temp. It would be hard not to fully extract in a cycle from my experience. You would have to choose to stop hitting it, due to being too high I guess. In which case you could finish the bowl at a later time.
The flavour shocked me. My expectations were low due to experience with Dynavap and Anvil, but it's tasty imo. I think it even tastes good at higher temps. It gives the impression that the herb is isolated enough during heat up to protect from a conduction effect cooking off the terps.
I'm not using the secondary cooling spiral, so I don't know how adding the spiral would affect taste (probably diminish it). I can't experiment as I wasn't sent the spiral. Hopefully other users who just got theirs can experiment and chime in.
Even though Tempest has the form factor of an Anvil /Dyna it's important to note that it functions completely differently. Just the fact that the tip (heat battery) is not wrapped around the herb creates a very different affect. Tempest has more in common with a B0 or sticky Brick than the aforementioned vapes when discussing flavour imo.
I mentioned the flavour in my review on page 24 if you are interested.
Comes with Zirconia standard. Held in by a specially purposed screen that screws into place. I have the old test version that just holds them in place with a normal screen. Balls are secure even in my early version. So I imagine they will be extra secure with the screw in screen.Your Tempest looks very nice and sharp!,
Does the Tempest come with Zirconia Balls?
or Boro?
Does that metal screen stay on firmly (how does screen stay on? whats holding it on?)
thanks for sharing
Are you guys soaking the cap in ISO? Do you keep the balls in? How long do you let it dry out before using if so? (I do know to take off the green o rings)
Everything except the (green?) radiator washer on the stem should be ISO safe iircI iso’d the stem and bowl, but I’m just gonna do a burn off for the cap.
ohh thats really cool to have a screen that securely screws ball screen in place, I did not know this thanksComes with Zirconia standard. You can also remove the screen and swap out the balls for a different material.
