The Lone Piper walks away in St George’s Chapel, playing a mournful lament to his Queen as she is finally lowered into the royal vault, ending the Funeral. And a memorable chapter in England’s history.

“Sleep Dearie (Your Majesty) , sleep”

Cost of ER II funeral, > Billion £

Watch the DART (Double Asteroid Redirection Test) strike on NASA channel @6-7:30 PM today, the 1st attempt to deflect an (inbound) astronomical body from (earth) impact, seven million miles away.

NASA hopes to nudge smaller Dimorphos into a lower/closer orbit around Didymos in this trial.

This is just a test, 7 million miles away from our blue planet...

Image of impact area a microsec before DART’s kamakazi strike on unsuspecting Didymos’- Dimorphos satellite companion.

Images of the 7 million mile strike, aka a “homerun”, from a small hitchhiking satellite LICIACube deployed from DART should be
Downlinked to earth. Soon. :myday:

LICIACube ( Light Italian CubeSat for Imaging Asteroids ) was shortly deployed from DART before impact to record the “nudge”, the resulting plume, and result (if any) of the historic first ever test to divert incoming Earth bound asteroids.

How to convince a misinformed ginger root that now is not a good time to sprout new shoots on the Northern hemisphere....

On a side note: In tandem with NASA’s DART Mission, the ESA (European Space Agency) is prepping up to launch its HERA Mission project to binary asteroids Dimorphos-Didymos in ‘24 to study the aftereffects of DART’s self immolation. Up close, and personal.

In addition, HERA will determine the internal structure of the binary asteroids to determine if they are gravitationally held together, or by weak cohesive forces.

The village of Manlleu in Barcelona, Spain with Serra de Bellmunt in the background, 6 minute exposure.

Mount Shasta, California. The Milky Way Galaxy is on the left, and the constellations of Scorpius and Ophiuchus, above and to the right. The bright orange star Antares and the colorful rho Ophiuchi cloud complex are visible just to the right of Mount Shasta, while the red emission nebula surrounding the star zeta Ophiuchi appears on the top right.
