Have you checked here:I agree I should diy it but still in the info gathering stages and just moved so expenses are tight and I've heard it costs a lot more to produce so I'm not sure when I can get started or how much dry product I would need to start doing qwet
@TommydCat have you ever checked the SR-74, no x, instructions? http://www.w9tech.com/instructions/ Notice that middle category each version of herc has its own instructions.I've noticed that the post in the bottom section of my SR-74 (not an upgraded SR-71 and no X) doesn't collapse quite enough when fully threaded to leave the entire white band of the rod visible -- when I tighten it up, it FORCES the rod up just a bit (if the top silver contact band started flush, it will be forced up so about 1/2 of the white area is above the collar).
As long as I keep the contacts clean it doesn't seem to have an adverse effect (and effectively raises the height of the rod in the upper chamber slightly..
Something to be concerned about?
I personally prefer the essential oil cart as you can load 1g and be set for a long time the kiss or l.a.y.g.(load as you go) only take enough for a few hits at a time I started out with an ophos and oil carts knowing layg wasn't my style and just recently bought a persei and herc
Ahhh.. Didn't notice the difference in instruction, so means I'm already set. Thank you!@TommydCat have you ever checked the SR-74, no x, instructions? http://www.w9tech.com/instructions/ Notice that middle category each version of herc has its own instructions.
I copied the picture I posted out of the official SR-74x instructions, but the SR-74 has a different rod placement. It needs to have only 2mm of the white band showing or else, as you've noticed, you bottom out the floating center pin and jam the floater hard in the bottom, and force the rod to slip through the chuck you've just tightened the crap out of. Which could theoretically wear off the tungsten contact points.
I have 2 hercs and I still have love for the EO cart!! Just picked up a 5 pack of the 2.4Ω and am trying out the SS kit on the double top.
Old school!!
Good times!!!
I squished the coil it sits squarely on the bottom. I tried to get it going this morning and I got it to heat but no vapor. I'm leaving for Santa Cruz for a few days and leaving the frustration of the herc behind. Ill take a kiss cart and enjoy the simplicity. I am going to send my Hercules in when I get back. I'm not putting anymore time into this it's pointless@Beanporn Im not sure I heard you mention the coil location when you open up the top and look down is the coil all the way to the bottom?
Every single time I experience weak vapor my coil has rode up the chambers ( I still haven't squashed my coil ) my herc can be boiling hot I look inside my coil is at the mouthpiece I push it down and wow a lung busting massive cloud
the Hercules seems like its either going to heat or not heat I don't know what could be causing your herc to only heat partial or half power unless the batteries if it was the rod or pin I don't think you would get any contact
I know since I got my core I haven't even bothered with my batteries its too nice and convenient
the meter has a 501 and 601 thread so you should only be using the 601 side with your Persei gear. It is actually only for persei carts I believe. I think the reason is the Persei unit itself is too fat. I did find a work around. I got a 601 to 501 adapter and am able to test the persei or hammer tops.like the persei head or the hammer head -- it seems way too tight ? no way to screw the top in since its next to the thread for the carts ?
is there a basic list of what all up tech products should read (kiss / se-74 .. etc ?
I'm getting 2.72 on the 7.4 kiss
1.28 on the 3.7 kiss
.83 herc black
2.24 white herc
Extreme variations in ohm meter readings indicates a bad connection somewhere. When a herc is COLD it should read consistent results every time. Keep in mind resistance values change when the herc gets HOT. If you are getting extreme variations when herc is cold, check the center gold pin. Rod might need to go a little deeper.@ andy thank you for that info my friend !!!!! n thx 4 confirming info w/ G
much respect
tonight (testing the 3.7 rod in action ! )
(is it just me or does it feel like holiday sometimes when cleaning the 74x reclaim -- i don't mind some oil getting down thur …. lil bonus ! imo )
guess I'm gunna ask w9 about the ohm meter jumping all over w/#s ? unless its normal ??
hope everyone n joying the day !
You are ok with that ohm reading value. Are u using a sr74x? resistance values are not set in stone. Every rod reads slightly different with a professional sensitive meter. For example a Fluke meter. As long as your ohm readings are consistent and close to 2.2-2.4 you are fine. Keep in mind resistant reading change when Hot. If your cold herc ohm value is consistent and somewhere near 2.2-2.4 you are good for take off. I have had new white rods read at 2.1 before but as they become used they stay at 2.3ish.an earlier post says the right resistance for the white rod herc is 2.24.
is this set in stone what it should be? mine is reading 2.43 cold. i still don't have any wax to test it yet but have practiced assembly a few times, it comes out between 2.43 and 2.46 every time. is there an acceptable range or should i keep practicing until i hit 2.24?
I get how the hammer works with the bender, but I've seen people saying it works great with the herc. How does that work? I don't have either one, but I've been looking into the both and don't seem to get how they work together.
Also I was wondering if I could get the hammer, the core, and the herc as a desktop (or car) unit? Am I missing anything I need there? Otherwise I was thinking of getting the Omicron v2 on sale for $50. Just not ready to drop $170 on a persei yet.
