Only way your gonna get the black rod to work is if you can supply 5.25 amps at 3.7v
If your unit can supply 5.25 amps at 3.7v and not flinch then your good to go.
I have ruined two coils by pulling them out carelessly. They get stretched and useless. I learned the hard way that you want to remove that coil only when the machine is hot so the hash isn't too sticky. I basically never take the coil out. I leave it in that piece of the chamber when I clean the machine.Does anybody have any tips/tricks/hints for proper Herc coil care?
Coil seems to get sticky with wax(I guess that's obvious), then the little coil "handle" thing is not strong enough when I try to pull out the coil. Is this common or am I just doing it wrong? I hate to just gouge away with my pick tool to pull up the coil, seems like coil would lose shape/break apart after doing that a few times. .
The coil pulls or "slides" out a lot easier when the whole assembly is slightly warm from recent usage. My handle came off the coil on the first go when I tried to pull it out cold and of course it was stuck to the walls/ceramic rod, and now I just use a flat tipped dabber to slowly work the coil out without spreading its layers, if that makes any sense. If you had a tool that could get in there with a wider tip instead of a wax carver/dental pick style, that would be my suggestion. Overall I think having it slightly warm before any manipulation helps the most.Does anybody have any tips/tricks/hints for proper Herc coil care?

Appreciate any ideas, I am new to the Persei/Herc combo and just need to refine a few things that aren't to clearly mentioned in the manual/on the website.
Does this mean Iris won't be able to do it either? Or are you raising it's current (it's now 5.0 Amps, right?).
TIA

The new Iris will have a 35 watt limit.
But the final numbers will be available once we finish the design.
Cool. Thanks. As of now, 5.25 is just outside the ratings on all the Persei tops, right? They're 5.0 due to the switch?
5%'s not much, but if it's over the line, it's over. I just assumed (yeah, I know....) Iris will be more exacting here.....

If I have the Iris...what voltage with the 7.4 rod would equal the black rod???
im gonna load her up, set it to 5.8 and fire away. My understanding is that at this voltage, I can hold the button with no worries of overheating. I obviously still need to cool it off between use.
also any tips to avoid leaks. My last herc use leaked out the bottom badly. i think I have it all tight now though
I too would like to knowif these would work.

I tried them with my SR-71. They died quickly. Seem like crappy batteries to me.
