I love the herc, if taste starts to degrade, I can just take it apart clean fully and burn off the heat rod to almost brand new(top part not, not the bottom) ,I cant do that with my other vapes.
I have stopped using my other vapes also because of fowl taste (might of been my own fault as to not cleaning as often as I should of) that even iso isnt taking away, boiling isn't working, baking it either. only other alternative is opening it up and voiding warranty to torch clean the ceramic 's or getting it rebuilt.
I cant wait to see your comparisons on the two, or watch!?
edit
also I have noticed certain oils like to run away from the heat in this case the lower heat from the black 3.7v is heating and vaping but some oil that's further (due to it not being as hot as 7.4, heat builds up but more slowly on 3.7v ) away in the coil gets pushed out to the sides or up into mouthpiece, plus drawing thru usually assist in pulling oil up.
noticed this when I use to used cheap ecig conectrate pens that you just dab a bit on to the coil, some wax gets vaped instantly and the rest that's far enough gets pushed up or away from the heat( heating coil in this case).
A super hot titanium nail is so hot that the oil has no were to run in time before getting completely vaped off or flashed vaped(plus the nail shape helps).
The nail set up ,pulls air in a downward motion pushing against oil keeping it down on the flat part of the nail, most pens and portable vapes require the air to pass upward from the bottom up thru the oil, so it might be assisting the liquified oil to be pulled up with the inhalation .
whats up guys,
so I tried to get my 7.4 white rod herc up and running last night...freshly charged AW IMR 18350's (checked voltage before use) got some small wispy hits... nothing big though.
I cut my coil in half, loaded the coil up with .3 of some wax and melted it in with pulsing the button. then put a screen and some grinded up flower, put the top cap and mouth piece on. with and with out the outer shell on. my coil sits up about 1 cm above the rod.
method of hitting was to warm up the herc for 5 to 8 sec (I've tried longer warm ups before hitting), then try taking small Sherlock style puffs(never letting go of the power button) until I start to see a lil vape come out my mouth (probably close to a total off around 20 secs before any amount of wispy hits) then slowly inhale until about 15 sec left in my lungs to use with power off while inhaling ( to cool off the herc)...
and nothing really ever comes out but the small lil hits im getting during the initial Sherlock puffs.
ive noticed when I was doing the 20 sec on an 20 sec off break in, that my ceramic rod doesn't seem to get glowing hot until around 15 to 18 seconds, and even then the very tip of the rod doesn't seem to glow as hot.
would you guys that are up and running say that's about right as far as my rod heating up properly?
does anyone know if its possible for the ceramic rods to be measured for resistance? and what the resistance value of the rod should be if so?
I love FC, and have much love for everyone on here that helps everyone out.
thank you in advance to anyone that can help me get this beast up and running

You only load .3 of oil? if yes then a half cut coil needs atleast .5 the buffer being around .3 and the rest going to vape.
I'll just do!
Let you know after I wake up!
GOD'S GIFT blonde well purged BHO (Vacuum and Heat)
WHITE WIDOW NUG
At least it should taste OK!
Taste = amazing!
Effect = MAX FLIGHT!
This setup is going to be with me for quick medication purposes!
Tried it myself. Loaded up some Master Yoda flower with some Lemon Skunk wax then used my fingernails to break the sticky mess up. Packed it to the top of the white rod and gave it a go. Initial flavor was badass, and I did get a strong effect. Took quite a few full pulls off of it before putting it down too. I think I started to burn stuff after most of the wax vaped off though. Some of the flower was singed when I took it out. Probably a better job for that black rod?

i had a really expectional session with the SR71!Tried it myself. Loaded up some Master Yoda flower with some Lemon Skunk wax then used my fingernails to break the sticky mess up. I did stir, and that helped. I think part of my issue was that I was really going as long as I could before I tasted the flavor drop off (and I thought I started to taste combustion). It was a lengthy session.
when I go to load up some more, I should be good to just put the wax right on the coil?
Try putting the top cap on the herc (while herc is attached to bottom insulator)
Then screw on the outter shell to the bottom insulator
Then screw the whole herc into the mouthpiece. It seems when I screw the mouthpiece into the herc, it loosens the connecton from the bottom insulator...that got rid of my whispy hits.
Its wotth a shot. Make sure the coil is dropped l he way in. Maybe cut it shorter depending on the consistency of material
Black rod is mainly for oil. Ive tried it with a screen and leaf on top with the black rod, but didnt get good results. Might be a better job for the blue rod, works great with leaf and oil sandwiched(no screen or coil)Tried it myself. let me make this question a little clearer, what I meant was...
once I have my buffer for my coil, is it ok to just put wax on top of the coil while its still in the herc? should I load that extra .2-.3 outside the herc? and once its in am I good to throw the top cap and mouthpiece and start trying to get vape? or am I to try and "melt" this into the coil like we do for the buffer?
edit: also not sure if it matters but i'm using my herc with an older version double top... I check resistance anytime I unscrew anything from the herc.
Sounds like maybe the ss top cap wasnt sealed all the way, for sure double check that.let me make this question a little clearer, what I meant was...

My Kyocera ceramic scissors made quick work of cutting my second coil. LOL tempered ceramic > whatever the coil is made of.
Iam glad to hear the herc is treating you well.Hi Ryan:
I wish I could help however as you and I know someone will come to the resue!
Most of what I
i had a really expectional session with the SR71!
I did trottled down however the flavor is still wonderful!
Stirring helps to keep it balanced!
The HERCULES is my main at current! Love the draw of the new mouth piece!
I pretty much agree with the white rod verses the Cera CO. I think the EO is easier to control the temp since it has more mass, but takes long to heat due to that. SR-71 White rod need good power control to gte the best taste. It can really provide though.Okay here we go...
Cera LL and EO vs Hercules SR-71 (white, black and blue rods)
General charachteristics pros and cons
- Size/looks:
- Cera: Assembled, the cera is a little smaller and skinnier, but also a little bit heavier. But feels more solid. Also the body is basically stain/scratch proof which is a huge plus
- Herc: definitely taller and wider, but also lighter.
- Winner: its a draw. They are pretty equal in size, the cera is a little bit heavier though. But the hercules is longer and/or carried around as seperate parts (herc and persei)
- Ease of Use:
- Cera: more simple and works better with leaf, but its hard to load stable/thicker oils
- Herc: more complicated, more pieces, requires a specific technique at least for herbs. Melts pretty much any oil ive tried much easier than the cera though.
- Winner: again kind of a draw. For leaf the cera definitely wins but is hindered by the mouthpiece. I can see the herc winning with the Iris but i havent tried yet so cant say for sure. For oils its a draw. Ther hercules is easier to load oils, but i also feel like im going though oil a lot faster with the herc than the cera
- Cleaning:
- Cera: can be isod and boiled, very easy to clean
- Herc: can be completely taken apart, isod, reclaim everything and much easier to dry and use again
- Winner: herc-they are both easy to clean, but the hercules is by far the winner. You can reclaim everything, completely break it down, and just simply wipe dry, burn off for about 10 seconds and is useable again. With the cera you have put in an oven at a low temp to dry followed by 20/20/20 burns and even then its still not completely dry
- Customer service:
- Cera: fast repair time, but harder to get the process started. At least Fri-Sun which is the two times ive had issues
- Herc: never had to go through customer service, but who needs to when you have someone like G. Spent almost a full day trying to fix my hercules and eventually exceeded, from across the country
- Winner: hercules enough said
Now onto leaf:
Cera LL vs Hercules SR 71 (3.7V blue rod): winner= Cera (for now)
I had high hopes for the hercules blue rod, however at the moment it just isnt that great for just herbs. Does work well mixed with oil which is a huge plus over the LL but besides that the Cera LL is easier to use, and produces bigger clouds. Althugh the mouthpiece does get too hot before finishing a load. I think the hercules blue rod might either work just as well or better with the Iris though. We will see....
Now onto oil:
Cera EO vs Hercules SR-71 (7.4V white rod) : winner= draw (slight edge hercules)
Okay so you really cant go wrong either way. The persei and white rod is about the same price as a cera eo/batteries/charger. However, the hercules 7.4 white rod can work with oils, just as easily as the cera and as stated above is much easier to load. Also, you can mix it with herbs which is a huge plus. Taste is compareable with each atleast with a 30% coil herc. The herc probably tastes better with a bigger coil but is also more difficult to use with harder, thicker oils
Cera EO vs Hercules SR-71 (3.7V black rod) : winner= hercules
This is more of an equal grounds here since both EO and black rods are 3.7V and used strictly with oils. But i mean its not even close. The hercules black rod is just so much tastier than anything ive ever used including the cera. And the hits are almost compareable. It doesnt vape everything but you can easily scrape up the leftovers and load it back up...
Overall:
Cant go wrong either way, they are both great vapes and for being so similar they are also so different. The hercules is a little more complicated, but also so much more versatile. For oils Want ridiculously huge hits go with the white rod. Want great hits and incredible taste go with the black rod. Want to use herbs and oils go with the white rod, or possibly the blue rod.
Right now i really like the persei/herc with the black rod so much more than the cera that i just cant seem to find time to use the cera. Although for leaf the cera is a clear winner right now. But that may change whenever the iris is released.
Sorry i got a little lazy half way through and it became a little more generalized. Thats all i can think of for now But If anyone has any questions, comments, or concerns feel free to ask or pm.
I am at a lost?Okay here we go...

you should be fine with .5 ib a 50% or less coil. Id probably shoot for a coil that's flush or slightly above the rod if I were you.
@Rhino420
edit: FML, I mixed up my coils. Note for later: label coil containers.
One of the beta versions unraveled and fell apart. How do you NOT have a coil?
One of the beta versions unraveled and fell apart.
I bought 2 from the pre order sell last year Oct or Nov?
I have 2 new SR71's without coils.
Wax straight up is what I prefer.
Nugs to work like a coil for now.
Where do you buy the coils?
And the different colored rods?
I'll just use it the best I can.
For me I love it because it is fast and effective!
