@THC SCIENTIFIC
Just came back from the future, flux compactor and all...
FTW: temperature control is the truth!
I don't say much but if this is the industry standard then I want my hash vapes with latest tech out there...
PS send me one of them for beta testing....
Those weren't in stock yet, you didn't miss them.Damn I missed the sale of the V3 601 Mod KISS. When will more be in stock?
Did you ask for a quote on the pieces you need? ~$60 seems like you need a ton of parts... I Could have sworn a replacement post is like $15?Whaddupp guys?
Long time no post.
I don't think anyone here likes me, but I want some advise on completing my universal unit.
I finally sprung and bought a pax2, after my bender was taken by police, so honestly, herb is not in question, with my universal portable device. I'll keep the pax with the SR71, for real sessions, but I need a good portable unit.
In a perfect world, the pax's oven would connect to my battteries in the 8. I'd use the atlantis for liquid & I'd have the sr71 7.4v for oil, all the time, but that's not going to work, because I don't want to carry around 18350's.
I thought that I'd be able to carry around the shorty, to connect to the long 8 tube, and I could use it as a lightsaber 7.4 v, but it is not flush at all & I don't think reccomended.
I have both versions of the hercules (sr74x & sr71), but my sr74 is missing the insulated plastic piece, and the center post is broken. I'm debating if I should even get the center post and insulated plastic piece, or if I should just sell the dang thing, before making it work.
But it's worthless if not in working order. Sad that it's gonna cost me nearly as much as it'd cost me to buy an alpha centauri. They charge an arm and a leg for tiny pieces.
I only use the sr71 anyway, but I don't know if I'd like the sr74 better with 3.7v.
WHICH HERCULES PERFORMS BETTER UNDER 3.7 V?
Should I just get the pieces?
Would it be best to carry around the herules, always attached to a chrome hammer top?
Should I buy the alpha centauri?
I'm pretty into the hercules and I'm not into the kiss carts at all, but the centauri seems like it'll take the cake with the dougnut coil.
HOW MUCH OIL CAN I PUT ON THE DOUGNUT COIL? Is the rip comparable to hercules?
Furthermore, not only my bender was taken, but the police also took my okeanos!
IS THE DOUGNUT COIL COMPATIBLE WITH THE OKEANOS? Should I just spend the extra bucks and get an okeanos and a dougnut coil?
It's so unlikely I'd break it or anything. I mean, I carry around my atlantis' glass tank everyday.
I'm debating on buying an alpha centauri, an okeanos &/or 3.7v hercules rods
What does everyone think?
Hahaha, I yelled "oh no!" When I saw the pic, before I even read the post. At least you know the shatter looked great before you moved it from the donut to the globe for safe storage@ragnorokk The best thing is to strip the 8 down completely and then put the pins into the discs. Set the button inside the 8 top and while working the button gently, pop those into the button. Pinch the pins to ensure they're seated correctly.
The current gen button (I'm going to stop calling it "New". The original button is the "Old style" because the vast majority of 8's have been sent out with the current button style & most old 8's have had their buttons and pins upgraded) shouldn't require as much fussing with the contact screw as the older style button assembly. Most 8's work beautifully with the current button design and no backing out of the contact screw. A firm but not overkill push often works great with no backing out of the contact screw; but the adjustment is there to be able to compensate for slight variances.
I'd also be happy to help ya out with a Skype session to go over an 8 rebuild and adjustments if you are ever interested!
@geetimesthree I sure would like the chance to help; you never responded to the last support ticket you opened on June 24th where I was trying to identify what Hercules parts you'd need to get up and running 100% - and I sure will do my best to get you the parts you need at a fair price. Get back to me on that ticket so I can help you out!
Personally, I take advantage of the 1.7Ω rod of my SR-71 and only use Black rods in the devices that can't use that rod- my SR-74 and SR-74x.
The 1701 donut holds a fairly small amount of oil at once, enough for two or three hits just like the other LAYG cartridges of the KISS Alpha Centauri. As it turns out, this size load is about 2x as much as a load that works well for me. This load lead to splatter city:
Yup.Are the Kiss Gen 3 carts designed to work at either 3.7v or 7.4v?
Do they have the same black ceramic and Ti wire as the AC?
Yeah, but does the body (without mouthpiece) fit in an Okeanos?
Unfortunately, no. The AC coils can fit in the okeanos but gen 3 KISS do not due to their deep chamber, it's too tall for the Okeanos.Yeah, but does the body (without mouthpiece) fit in an Okeanos?

So if I want to use my hercules sr-71 with a nibbler XL, do I have to do anything to it? Is just the top cap that comes with the nibbler fine, should I use a 74x base?
Also, Id love to see a 7.4v dual coil for the globes!
Is this also true of the new batch of dual coils for the Kiss Globe?
thx, have a ton of tiny parts I want to order. Hopefully they don't add up too quickly! To use the 71 with the Nibbler XL you just need two things from my understanding. One is the new mouth piece which has a single oring around it and this comes with the Nibbler XL. The second is the base from the 74 that has two orings. If you need the 74 bottom with orings @SamuraiSam should be able to hook it up as a misc part order I believe.
Herc plus Nibbler XL is the ultimate. I highly recommend.
Not a chance. The KISS Alpha Centauri takes KISS Alpha Centauri coils and that's it.How about the kiss 3 in the AC?
This depends on what bottom insulator came with your SR-71. If the bottom insulator has two grooves for an O-ring, everything else you need will come with the Nibbler XL. If your bottom insulator has no provisions for O-rings, you will need to purchase a new Hercules SR-71 bottom insulator with O-ring grooves. We can sell you this part for $10 of misc fees, be sure to specify in the notes of your order (Step 2) exactly what the fees are for.So if I want to use my hercules sr-71 with a nibbler XL, do I have to do anything to it? It' s called the Alpha Centauri. It doesn't fit in a Globe form factor. Also, Id love to see a 7.4v dual coil for the globes!
Now I want to wind my coils preferably for 7.4V. My basic physics tells me that if I double the voltage but want to keep the power the same I need to half the resistance. So I assume I should be driving for 0.8 to 1 ohm.
I took a look at a still working "Up Tech Ti Gr2" atomizer (single coil). That one had nine turns. 0.9 ohm resistance.
A 7.4v single coil on beefier wick would suffice. I am having trouble keeping my home made coils tight around the ceramic wicks - it would be nice to let someone else wrap the Ti my globe is a lot easier to hook up to water pieces than the new size of the KISS AC. Maybe we could finally see a simple adapter, so we can put the AC through any GonG based filtration we already own?It' s called the Alpha Centauri. It doesn't fit in a Globe form factor.
3.7V Ti coils target 1-1.3 Ω
7.4V Ti coils target 1.8-2.4Ω
Try five, six, seven wraps. I've tried a few things at 7.4 building Globe coils for my Nibbler GN.
I believe I have the 74x bottom insulator. Is that the same piece? I'm not a huge fan of the 74x, so I'll happily cannibalize it, if I must. Plus, I have a 74 bottom insulator, though the pin on that seems like it may be faulty. Can I replace just the pin on that, or do I need the whole bottom insulator for that model as well? This depends on what bottom insulator came with your SR-71.
