I heard that one of you crafty guys had figured out a way to get the Nibbler X to work with the Alpha Centauri. I was playing around with some pieces earlier and didn't find a nice way to make things seal. I browsed through the past few pages but couldn't find who came up with the idea, does anyone have this setup working well for them? (KISS AC + Nibbler X)

It was @thevaf who got the Nibbler X working. I got the XL working kinda sort of.

It doesnt "seal" but its good enough for the nibbler to function. Take out the metal base on the Nibbler, so its just glass on the bottom. Then use the AC with only the base and cart of your choice (do not use the SS/Delrin top piece or the glass top piece). The nibbler's diameter is just about the right size to sit on the base just above the airflow control, I am experimenting with different sized O-rings but so far I haven't really needed any. I will take a pics later tonight and upload.

2questions:
In terms of manufacturing how hard would it be to increase the the length of the positive pin in the base of the AC?

Are the dual-coil Ti carts for the AC ready to ship? Can I come by the (new) shop to pick a couple up? I promise I will try not to fry them

If you're like me, stuff rolls off the table all the time. To stop that, I put a cable tie on stuff I don't want rolling off the table.

Noob question
The ones I see for sale
Includes
  • Titanium Grade 2 heater
  • For use with Omicron/W9tech vaporizers
  • Ceramic wick
  • Anodized aluminium outer shell
  • Mouthpiece
Is this something I would need to purchase each time after approx 200 uses or is there just a part of this that would need to be replaced?

KISS Cartridge Titanium

Need opinions...is the V4 top worth a $65 warranty upgrade over the $20 V2 top? Don't really want to spend $65 just to get my ac running. (130 for both).

The two primary advantages of the v4 over the v2 top as far as I know are the touch button and the built in "hammer" mode.

A lot of people I know experienced frustration with the button on the v2. This is because the button is set flush with the rest of the top. I have pretty small fingers but still found it annoying enough that I glued something on to the button to make it easier to press. The v4 is touch sensitive so you aren't even applying any pressure to engage it.

If you have a hammer top you are familiar with how you can just turn it on and it will stay on until you turn it off. This is integrated into the v4 top as a secondary mode of operation. I've never found much use for this mode myself but if you have a Bender it is a must and I know some people like to use it even for the Herc.

If either of these two things matter to you then I would go with the warranty repair and v4. If not then the $20 v2 top is an incredible deal in my opinion.

I found the right sized o-ring in a bag of spares I've accumulated over the years, so I have no idea on sizes. For reference it's about as thick as a nickel and just a bit smaller in diameter. On the AC, I took off the airflow cover and the included o-ring. Used the slot for a thicker one.

So what make the AC more than just a glorified kiss cart? (taste, draw, ease to load, how often to load) This thing sounds interesting, but the fact that I can't rebuild the coils is really holding me back.

I have an original persei with the writing up the tube. I am sure I have the oldest top possible.

Then I must have the same lol, I have persei written on the tube and numbers on the back, I called and asked, was told I was running a version too but the girl sounded like she had no idea... Lol what version AM I running?

What kind of box did your Persei come in? What batteries came with it? What color is your Persei and what's the serial number say on the Top, opposite side of the button?

In some ways you can look at it as a glorified Kiss cart, but I think it is (will be) much more than that. For now there are two main factors IMO. First is the "Cart", allowing for both globe style use or a more discrete fully enclosed form factor. My hope is that Gary will consolidate his Kiss designs on this platform (I say "hope" because I thought that was the plan with the globe platform).

In addition the Atty's that are available for the AC are far superior to even the globe atty's which were better than the original Kiss atty. The single and dual coil can be operated from 3.6v up to 7.4v. This gives you a wide range of power to dial in what you like. I think this aspect will really come into it's own when the v2 Iris comes out (:( sadly they are too low in ohms for the original Iris). Also the AC has a 3.6v 1701 ceramic disk atty with a 7.4v coming (or maybe I have that reversed).

There are other features that differentiate it (adjustable air flow for one) which may or may not make it worth it for you.

I think for $65 I'll patiently wait for the new iris that can hopefully take this low ohm cart. My current 6 tops cannot handle it @3.7 and 7.4 tastes terrible within the first second. Looks like the alpha will sit next to the herc unused until I have a working top. Unfortunately I broke my old style globe yesterday too, so back to the enail. Guess the W9 case is gonna be put away for a bit. :(

To me it's a glorified kiss cart. Except it's now along way from simple. It takes longer to heat up than the original globes, more places for oil to leak into, does not work with original tops, way too many parts to be called kiss (keep it simple silly)

Sorry for the double post I had a notification and thought someone else posted.

White box, 2 16350 batteries, black persei, the number says 5317 on top and tube back.

Mine must be prehistoric. Mine was a black box, 18650, 2-18350, single top, & double top. #1392

My teal one is #6417 with a blank tube.

Edit: I have not tried the teal top with the ac yet. Maybe I will give her a test

Edit 2: using the single coil with a fully charged aw 18650...black top works, but whispy. Blue top gets pretty decent vapor. Seems like the blue one stalls after 1-2 seconds while the blue one keeps going the whole time.

If it takes "a long time to heat up" at 7.4V the thing I would test are your batteries. Are you using AW 18350's in series for 7.4V mode? Other batteries won't have the amperage output to keep up with the demands of the AC. There is a lot more mass in the new Ti wire we're using in the AC coils and it needs more power than the older KISS carts to get going.

The 7.4 definitely works. Just too much. I really think like 6.0 would be better. Has anyone messed around with the core??? Idk if you saw my last post @SamuraiSam, I edited it. Seems like my other top works much better. Unfortunately it's my wife's.

Edit: seems like my black top is now working with the single coil. Still not the double but now it's usable.

Hmm...I think I'll stick with what I can rebuild on my own. I work at a dispensary so discretion isn't really necessary lol. The 1701 was never really appealing to me anyways.

I just got my AC in the mail tonight. Everything looks great inside and out. ;)

first, noticed I can close my eyes and rotate the air adjuster and determined what hole is larger or smaller by air flow change and or the change in sound. This seems to work fine for me anyways.

The dual coil test fired successfully with my setup with no smoke at the atty. So I loaded up the coil till she was heavily soaked in oil and wow! I hit it for half a second at 7V to get it warm and after that it was maybe 3-4 more really really quick button slaps. The vapor was just about instant and I was choked out fast.

The clear mouth piece is great as it lets you see what's happening, as it happens freakishly fast.
Time will tell, but so far, it rocks for me!!!
Thanks @THC SCIENTIFIC @SamuraiSam

Also,
On a VV device it supplies 4.2v and 4.2v all the way through, so essentially just killing the coils faster.

Does this apply to the core w/ hammer top combo also? Thanks

the kiss cart even the alpha centauri single coil need no more then 3.7v.

A freshly charged batteries on a 8 will see a lower voltage. When using a 4.2v battery under load it will supply 3.2v and just built its way back up when resistance changes. On a VV device it supplies 4.2v and 4.2v all the way through, so essentially just killing the coils faster.

The single and dual coil can be operated from 3.6v up to 7.4v

So what is the recommended voltage for the KISS AC Ti Gr2 Dual-Coil and Single coil carts?

Both come in at .8-.9ohms
@SamuraiSam and the product info on the website both mention 7.4v.

But @THC SCIENTIFIC says constant power supplied at 4.2v will kill the carts faster (mine died after 2 days).

The fact that I didn't use an 8 or persei may mean that I misused the cart but I'm just trying to understand recommended use for those people who bought the 510 version.

Now I'm reading its okay to pulse at 7.4v, and if we account for voltage sag of 1v, we can say it's around 6.4v. that translates to pulses of 30-50watts on the 8.

But my constant use of pulses of 4.2v on a regulated VV mod, which is 13-22watts kills the coils faster?

I am confused:huh:
I'm okay with the loss of my first one, but I want to make my next one last a bit longer.

So after a few weeks with the v4 ive got issues. first one, and this may be THE problem, but it clicks audibly throughout the duration of hammer mode. It doesnt fire my 3.7 herc nearly as hot as my hammer top. And finally, once in hammer mode, its fairly difficult to turn off. Idk if its my super dry and calloused man hands that the touch button doesnt like, but i cant trust hammer mode. Is there an operator error in there somewhere or is that clicking indicative of something wrong?

Titanium grade 2 works differently then nicrhome or ni 200 wire.

For Nichrome the draw is constant current, but for pure titanium draw is not constant after its up to speed, in fact while the initial 2 seconds the current needed for titanium drops.

With Variable voltages and wattages the issue is that when you put a .8 ohm coil on it and set it to 20 watts and fire that puppy up its supplying 20 watts to that .8 ohm coil, but what your forgetting is that .8 changes when its fired up so your mod isnt making the changes it needs during the power phase to compensate for less power. Its simply just supplying 20 watts no matter what the resistance.

So in theory yes your killing it with over voltage or over wattage, they work great in the ophos and the ophos provides 3.7v with PWM, but its still a 4.2v device.
