As for the Globes, I dig the GN. I didnt think I was going to like the thing much, as the first few times I used it, it was kind of awkward as it's offset; then I started wearing the thing... I'm kind of hooked on it now! The circ perc is pretty sweet.

I came up with a similar idea awhile back but my goal was to have a shorter device. It wasn't pretty so I didn't share it. However, half an hour ago, I simplified the grommet.

I have a Nibbler GN too but haven't really used it much. You inspired me to give her another go.
I purchased an Okeanos in Oct 2014 and it was the latest revision. Check with W9tech staff to verify. Regarding the kiss cart, any current kiss will do (if it has an air hole on the bottom, it works with the Okeanos).
Even the new kiss mini works on the Okeanos:

Anyone know or has it happened to you before where one slot on a charger may be wonky while the rest perform fine? runnin a nitecore i4 if it makes a diff. Basically end slot on the right claims batteries to be charged when in fact its a lying sack of crap. any ideas or just a bastard device with a sick sense of humor?

The Okeanos is actually meant for just that, portable water filtration for KISS carts. It used to be that you had to order specific KISS carts for use with the Okeanos, but I'm pretty sure that all KISS carts are now Okeanos compatible (don't quote me on that last part) and that thing is built like a tank.

Last i checked alot of things are on sale. Look for coupon codes. Go with globe. Universal-ish size allows easy replacement and opens a bevy of attachments, w9 or not.

you got a point there but when you buy a coil kit for $30, it has enough to replace it 10 different times. Anyone know if the coil kit will work for the glass globe carts?
Yes it sure will. The globe coils are slightly easier to rebuild IMO.

Sure will. Should work for rebuilding most carts of this type also, I used my kit to fix a cheap globe I had lying around.
so you could rebuild it without having to cut the ceramic smaller? and could you maybe post photos of how it is easier?
If by cutting the ceramic, you mean the wick. You may have to cut to fit. It cuts pretty easy with a razor knife. Place place where you want to cut and give it a whack. Be sure to protect your eyes, little pieces can fly. Firsts picture shows the KISS. The second picture shows the thread side of both. I find it easier to terminate the wires with the globe atty. One wire wraps around the atty after passing thru a hole. The other goes inside the insulator and contacts the pin. On the regular KISS it is similar but a bit more tedious. It is easier because the center pin on the globe atty does not sit flush like the KISS.

After fully exploring the world of low voltage vaping with the herc & kiss carts, I've come to the conclusion that my rig will only be used on two occasions going forward: when i have people over & IF (knock on wood) my w9 gear goes down. Iris v2, consider yourself pre ordered.

Hello. I can't get my 8 top to fire hot enough for my Herc. I bought a Hammer top and Core so I could trouble shoot the problem and of corse the Hammer top works great with the body of my 8 and my Core. I come from the TET Luna camp so I'm not unfamiliar with high-end EO mechanical ceramic vapes.
I think I've narrowed it down to one or two problems.
Maybe the bottom insulator of the herc not making a good enough contact with the 8 top. However, if I put that herc on my Hammer top it works GREAT!! So could it be the bottom insulator if it works elsewhere? My herc is an SR-74x but I also have an SR-71. I tried that adapter and it was the same -- hammer top works, 8 top doesen't very well.
Or maybe, the Button Body and Gold Plated Insert are screwed up and not giving a good contact to the pins. When the button is pushed without a cart on the 8 I can see the PTFE Insert and Gold Plated Top Pin flex toward the button a few degrees as the button pushes against the bottom of the pins. I think this could cause the pins to angle and thus not get a firm adjacent contact with the bottom of the button insert. I think with the flex it is only making contact with the corner edge of the button cylinder instead of the bottom flat face. It's the give in the O-Rings that lets the pin flex and angle when button is pushed. Is that flex normal? I would think it affects the quality of the contact but am unsure.
I did another test. I used my 8 body with my 8 top and my empty Herc SR-71. Held the button down for over a minute and only a very, very, faint glow (if any) on the ceramic rod. Put on the Hammer top and after about 15 or 20 sec the rod was glowing red. My 8 top is definitely not performing.
Any other suggestions please? I really want to use the 8 top with the 8 body instead of my hammer top.
