Yeah, they are absolutely incredible huh?
The two tone amboyba burl are crazy, theure like looking at a planet from space.
I think the siamese rosewood is one of my favorites - which is crazy to say because they all are amazing.
it really goes to show Dan's vision and artistic eye because every piece displays such great features

I LOVE Dan's first photo...
We see the workshop, his own Nomad 2, a sketchbook lying around... I love this story!
and... my favorite Nomad 2s are these two:
(the middle pieces in both photos)
I think it's Circassian walnut burl and figured walnut...
I'm literally going to dream about these magnificent pieces...
and I wanted to say... everything is magnificent, but the photo doesn't capture the shimmer, the nuances, the contrasts...
I have a Nomad 2 in figured walnut, and I think I only managed to capture the shimmer of the wood once... it's mesmerizing. Ditto, I have a roasted curly maple stem... unfortunately split... but it's a feast for the eyes...

I also think the two white striped ones are Karelian birch, and the same... it must be amazing!
And looking closely... hmm... the curly Siamese rosewood is in my top 3... even though it's very difficult not to put an amboyna burl in your top 3... indeed, they look like snapshots of Earth...

Happy it looks like we'll get ours soon, too bad I won't be able to partake in mine. As I've discovered recently that smoking or vaping weed gives me asthma attacks now. What a cruel joke, oh well I guess, such is life sometimes.

Now that we know the batch 2 Nomads are coming soon, I have some questions for the Nomad veterans among us (namely fangorn).
How often should one use their Nomad to prevent brass patina from interfering with use?
I plan on only using my Nomad one or two days a week because I don't vape during the week, is that enough?
How long between use could I go without needing to take it all apart to clean the brass?
If I ever go multiple weeks without vaping, can I just push the button a few times to keep the brass fresh and clean?
How often should one use their Nomad to prevent brass patina from interfering with use?

One guy has been taking up way too much space for way too long!
So, regarding the Nomad's patina, it's not an exact science.
And I'd say that @KeroZen might have some good advice to share.
Some information to consider:
-Dan recommended, for one of the previous batches, to do an initial cleaning upon arrival of the precious items.
because of the time spent in the workshop in the final moments, then in the boxes and during transport.
You can try it when it arrives, of course! But it's possible that cleaning it will improve its performance, so... why deprive yourself of the first few tests?!
And you'd have to check with Dan, but I don't think there's any need to clean the button upon receipt.
So if you want, it can be really quick!
-If you only use your Nomad on weekends, I don't think it's a problem!
I'm even sure the performance won't drop significantly in 5 days!
-The limits of my experience are there. I use a Dan device every day... at worst, 10 days go by between two uses.
I can't assess the medium or long term...!
-From memory, for a regular user, Dan mentioned cleaning every 6 months, I think, but it's worth checking!

There can be significant contact resistance build-up between the heater and bottom bronze plate, leading to noticeable performance drop. On the other hand the battery bridge and button contacts are partly self-cleaning (friction) so those two are less of an issue.
In the Milaana the top battery contact was to some extent self-cleaning, provided you swiveled it shut and not just tightened the thumb-screw, but that copper plate would also develop an oxide layer over time.
There's a reason why most contacts are gold, silver, nickel or other precious metals plated. But don't worry too much, it takes less than one minute to clean the bottom bronze plate with the lightly abrasive sponge provided. It's not a tedious maintenance and you don't have to perform it that frequently.
