The Nomad From Morwood

LOL thx everyone, not trying to be lazy but there are 244 pages to this. I will specifically look for Fangorn posts. Yes i have been using Google & found this Gem. A preview of the NEW Nomad II. That post on Reddit is 5 years old so i understand a single artisan takes time. Still beautiful stuff. I truly appreciate it but have convinced myself i do not need to spend that kind of money on a single Vaporizer, which is why I like reading all about it. https://www.reddit.com/r/vaporents/comments/dsm6lp

how is it possible, not to find enough pictures or reviews of this beauty?! 😁

i'm biased... but i've gotten rid of all the "best portable convection vaporizers of the last few years" (TM, FW7, TP80, tempest, anvil, etc.) since i got my hands on one of dan's, and his incredible heater!

there may be vaporizers, slightly better in terms of flavors, others slightly faster to heat, others more efficient... but there is none with such qualities, as compact, and with such aesthetics and such quality of craftmanship....

some new pictures of my OG #005...

with the High Artisan stem, which replaces the one broken a few weeks ago...

this new stem is very nice... the mouthpiece is special... like a nipple... not unpleasant!! 😅

For those of you here attempting to invoke the "one man perfectionist shop" argument, sorry, I'm not buying it anymore. Transparency or speed: pick one. We get neither. Had we gotten regular, honest updates during the YEARS that nothing seemed to be happening except a flood of Toads with elaborate, complex, obviously time-consuming artwork going out the door, I might be able to deal with it taking this long. I have been tempted so many times to reply to a "look at my awesome new Toad" post with "Congrats! Enjoy my Nomad!" So if you take your dear sweet time you have to communicate. We have been led on for close to 5 years now.

I believe coated washi paper like the toads (think high quality paper mache). I think he tweaked the formula and technique a bit for the toads to increase durability, but is otherwise very similar.

I the think it's Chiyogami paper. it's slightly different from washi. chiyogami is already printed on a thick paper. it's a Japanese paper. Dan covered it with a special coating, acrylic I think.

washi is used on the Toads. Dan uses it blank and paints on/inside, saturating the different layers of washi paper...

the coating on the toads is much more resistant!!

Yeah supposedly, but then how the hell does 40 devices take this long if you're working at least 8 hours a day on them?
This is why I'm starting to think the Nomads don't exist... How can it take so long. Each device has had hundreds of hours put into them by now. It will take a family photo to reassure me. Until I see something concrete, my concern will simply grow.

Day Vaper,

Any chance you can post the update. Us batch 3ers didn't get one lol.
Basically it's this: End of March is still the commitment but shipping will likely bleed into the first week of April. Individual unit pictures will be taken once completed. Then the imgur gallery of the body blocks which I would post here but I won't. If Dan wanted others to see it he'd hop in and post it himself. Basically he has a few pics of the finished up body blocks, specifying the wood types.

Holy SHIT

Almost every single wooden body looks absolutely incredible. Truly jaw dropping pieces of wood and my jaw don't drop often

People are going to be VERY happy when they receive these and forget all about the delays, just the site of them has almost made up for them, for me..

I know mine is one of the two roasted curly maple ones. Both look great so I think I'll be happy either way!

This is such a weird thread to follow when you have no horse in the race... It's like continuing to watch a mediocre TV show (no offence) just because you want to know the ending. So much drama!

But I'm genuinely happy for those of you who are finally on the home stretch. Because honestly, mutterings aside, what a display of patience this has been. I'm looking forward to the pics/season finale!

No more plot twists please!

As someone in batch 3 who's been watching this thread like a hawk, fuck Imgur failing when the photo was leaked earlier (did it site wide on my end). I know none of them are mine, but I'm just as invested in seeing new ones for the first time in years. Might actually dan and ask for a copy of the group photo...

Oh my god...
Dan... it's incredibly beautiful...

I want to print all these photos huge and display them in every room of my house...

Maybe I'll negotiate with my wife who works at a photography school...

It's delicious, really...

Wow.... wow... wow....

This is going to make my day and more!

There must be 40 people who have been totally crazy since they received the update...

I can't wait to see the buttons or cases... but I have a feeling this set is even more beautiful than set 1....

Wow!!!

Edit:
If you don't like the model you're supposed to receive... or if you end up prefering an OG... I'm here, right? 😆
Just kidding... enjoy the satisfaction you must be feeling!!

edit 2: after all this time, it's insane to see this batch come to life....

Edit 3: Olive is truly an underrated wood in Dan's work... the olive wood blend is truly delicious! Silky, smooth...
I'm also a fan of Circassian walnut, figured walnut, and amboyna... wow... there isn't one I wouldn't want!
