You know I love your full collection ! And all with their own package. Nice :) Thanks for sharing !!

Thanks for the always nice comments @Electrofever
and yes... it was incomplete without a case for each unit! I feel better 🤣

I thought I had my VAS sorted, but it just focused on Dan's universe devices! the positive point is that it is more difficult to obtain it so in any case, it slows down my impulses!

It is a solution for fighting VAS, even though, as you said, it is in fact just refocusing ;) and yes I tend to love seing nice pics, especially when I see Dan’s work ! I still have so many of Dan’s sleeves in mind, thank you all the people who took time to share, and helped build the legend ! But all those sleeves…. Asian mist on a lake, mushrooms, and so and so… sorry, just thinking loud :)
One day someone will have to try and dig all the pics of these beauties and compile them in a book… you know, The Big Book !!

hey!

I must say that, for the great book that you are calling for... the FC threads already seem excellent to me when it comes to Dan's devices!

but here are two-three links where his final work has been partially grouped...

But personally, I find that the albums he shared at several points during production are just phenomenal...

edit: either my memory is playing a trick on me, or I have never seen the last toads presented... and there are still some crazy things!!!

so as not to leave @fangorn alone on this thread, here's a little shot :
Nomad 51, new-generation high heater, leather airflow reducer, new and fully-charged battery, placed on a hand-made abstract art leather tray.

I totally agree with you, but it would avoid having to scroll through so many pages, even though reading all those messages makes me sometimes feel like an archeologist, digging out good old info :) And, having a book with amazing pics of amazing devices would be such a lovely present ;)

I must say I came up a few times on such albums and was always amazed. Dan is an artist before doing amazing devices, and you can feel that everything he does is thought trough and has his own touch of poetry. I remember an album of his shed being his workshop, you could kind of feel the ambiance in there :) every tool or every piece of wood was enlightened with those pictures ! And all that ends up in those lovely vaporizer Dan does, how lucky are we :smug:

Just been watching your lovely Nomad for 5 minutes…. Thank you :) « pour les yeux »

Do any of you fellow Nomad owners have access to the capsules for the POTV Lobo? ( or any of the Fury/Rogue variants).
I'm wondering if they could be used in the Toad/Nomad the same way that Mighty capsules are used in the Tinymight, I.e. the capsule is dropped into the vape rather than inserted into the stem. The stem is then inserted until it meets the capsule and holds it in place for use.
The stem would stick out 10-11mm further than usual.

The Lobo capsules are reportedly 12.5mm dia' so sound like they'd possibly drop past the O-rings quite readily.
It might be a pain to remove a spent capsule if it's snug and won't drop past the O-ring, but worst case scenario would be briefly removing the base-plate and heater to allow the capsule to be poked out from below with the tamping dowel or something similar.
I think the other non Lobo capsules might be fractionally smaller, which might function worse, or better?

If anyone can think of a different capsule that's about 13mm let me know as that might be worth considering too.
I imagine the S&B Mighty capsules would be too big?

I'll post this question over in the Toad forum too so I don't miss anyone who might be able to answer.

I just tried a Lobo capsule and it's too wide for the Nomad glass stem. :2c:

Thanks man, but I didn't mean for the capsule to go into the stem.
Can the capsule just be dropped into the Nomad to rest on the bottom (on your heater screen if you have one fitted), with the stem then inserted enough to hold the capsule in place at the bottom of the 'stem hole'?

I think this is how folk are using the Mighty capsules in the TM. They also don't fit in the TM stem, but the stem is just used to keep the capsule located while vaping.
I confess that had someone described this method to me I would have had some doubts it would work well, but there seem to be multiple folk using it with success in the TM.

The Nomad/Toad stems are 14mm, and the Lobo capsules are 12.5mm (or so I've read) so as long as the capsules aren't so small they drop right through the lip which the stem abuts, to touch the heater, this should work. (shouldn't be a problem if your Nomad or Toad has a heater screen fitted, might work even without one)

Forseeable issues:
1. Without a heater screen fitted, if the capsule is smaller than the hole (the hole above the heater/at the bottom of the stem) it would just touch the heater probably shorting the coil. Don't fire up your Nomad if the Lobo capsule is small enough to drop right through the whole device when the heater and bottom cap aren't fitted! This would indicate a need for a heater screen, or bigger capsule.

2. Capsule may be tricky to remove 'on-the-go' if it's a snug fit to get past the O-rings which hold the stem in. (If this were to happen, removing the bottom plate and heater should give easy access to push the capsule out from below with a dowel or something). I don't yet have a convenient solution for this on the go, other than carrying a short piece of wire with a hook bent into the end to facilitate removal (wire would have to be small enough dia' to fit through the holes in the end of the capsule for this to work).

The Lobo capsules will likely be a loose fit in the (15mm-ish?) hole for the stem, but this shouldn't matter much as the stem will provide a seal once inserted and hopefully all the hot air from the heater will pass through the load as long as the stem is seated against the capsule. Some may make it's way past the outside of the capsule if the seal is very poor, but I'm thinking that If this were to happen I'd try turning another wooden stem with a short recess to fit the Lobo capsule on one end (say-12.6x3mm).

I'd just buy some Lobo capsules (they're the biggest I can find dimensions for, other than the Mighty, which I'm pretty sure would be too big) to try for myself, but shipping seems to be very high to me here in Scotland.

Obviously please don't try anything which might damage your device! I'm fairly certain what I describe is very low risk though, no need to force anything, or adapt anything, just drop the capsule into the Nomad to see if it falls out the bottom!

I do appreciate you taking a look though as I'd love a capsule system that would work with my Nomad/Toad out and about. 👍

I might be stupid but I fail to see why anyone would want to subject themselves to such a hassle?

The original Nomad stem with two screens is de-facto a capsule inside the stem, nothing can fall out, nothing can get stuck, you can unload it right after using it...

For the same reasons that the TM users adopt the Mighty capsules. It seems to work satisfactorily for them.
I think there's a chance that dropping a capsule into the Nomad/Toad, then dropping it out again when spent, to replace with another freshie might be more convenient (for me, and maybe others) than debowling the stem and then refilling from another container while out and about.
YMMV obviously.
I like the idea of pre-loaded capsules for convenience.

I only mentioned the possible drawbacks/risks so anyone in possession of a Lobo (or similar) capsule and able to test the fit, wouldn't be 'put out' if it didn't readily drop back out. Belt and braces so to speak.

I shared the same question as @KeroZen , and I figured you had enough experience and own enough vaporizers to know what you were asking...

I hope you find a suitable capsule.

I still think that given the way Dan's heater works... a capsule would take a lot of heat and energy.
perhaps with high heater, you could still obtain satisfactory results, although I have my doubts! and if that's the case, I suppose you'd have to take several batteries with you.

For my part, I opted for the option of taking several preloaded stems when traveling. It takes up a little more space than the capsules, but it has the same function!

keep us informed of your research and tests!!
Good Luck !

OK I get the idea a bit better now, but yeah having to poke the capsule from below and risking that it snags on the o-rings etc would probably thwart all the convenience that you would gain in the first place.

Yeah, but I don't yet know if that would happen. At this stage it's just a risk that's occurred to me, not a known issue with the idea.

@fangorn 's pre-packed stems are something I've done myself too, but take up too much room for my liking, I prefer to just re-pack a single stem.
A working capsule option would be my ideal though, which is why I'd like to know if they 'drop in' or not 👍

The finest combo of my collection. Blackwood power!
The crazy wpa pipe is made by @Aezhenn of stabilized amboyna burl and blackwood. The 2 parts stem is glass lined with spiked 11mm od tubes from @glass_charlie.

wow @Duba
It’s a magnificent setup!!
Aezheen's pièce blowjob enhances your Nomad!!
This is one of the most beautiful photos I've seen recently!! Thanks for sharing!

Hello, I'm sure if I was reading here more often I would know, but I haven't kept up. I can be a bit slow :p

Anyway, I wanted to ask on both the Nomad & the Toad, what is the current approximate wait for people receiving theirs now? I'm not worried, or trying to push in anyway, just thought I would try and get an idea. I'm on ~ 2 years on both list. I'm hoping it's closer to 3 years than 5, but wanted to ask to ;)

If I was more "zen", I wouldn't ask but still working on that :)

I paid for my unit mid 2021. Construction has not started on mine. I'm in batch 3. You are a good ways away from a unit of your own.

You have a much higher chance of getting a Toad.

As of now it's hard to tell with a Nomad if Dan will even continue making them after batch 3.

Batch 2 has been in the making for over 2 years now if I'm not mistaken.
