Have any of you guys got a MiniVap as well as a Mighty? I'm interested in how they compare?
For the past day or two (I have had the Mighty since last Friday), I seem to be getting harsher pulls with the Mighty. I wouldn't say "combustion", but pulls that were once super clean and cool are now causing me to cough, and I'm detecting a "smokier" feel in my lungs, even when starting at temps around 330-340. The smokier feel does not progress as I go up the temps, so I don't think its burning?
I have kept the unit spotless, so it can't be the cooling unit, and the ABV is still coming out nice and brown at the end. The whole thing is perplexing me.
The only thing I can think of is that perhaps the stash I'm using has a lot of twigs in it, (I ground the buds in my Space case without opening them up and checking/cleaning out any twigs inside,), and perhaps that's why, but the ABV looks pretty normal.
I am getting a wear and tear set, so I'll try out the new cooling unit when it comes, and will try different stashes, but just curious if anyone else is experiencing the same issue or have an idea to what else it could be?
I bought both at same time. Completely different animals. If you like ease of use and good vapor, the mighty is good. If you like to make different modifications i.e. Hooking up to water and GREAT VAPOR, get the minivap. If I had to choose one, I would pick the minivapHave any of you guys got a MiniVap as well as a Mighty? I'm interested in how they compare?
Thanks for the support, I guess I'm worried that there might be some combustion going on, but I can't figure out why or how? Will explore some moreI think everyone has their preferences with the temp. I start my sessions at 335 and end at 355-360. I see others above 390. I've definitely noticed better results on better strains so you should be fine
Thanks for the reply, nah heater is super clean. It's like I'm still getting vapor, but with the tiniest bit of smoke mixed in. The "smokiness" does not increase with temp increase, which is strange as well. I never super clean my bud, just pull the big twigs off that I can, and grind the rest, and never had a problem before. The only time I noticed an off smell from Mighty the cooling unit was dirty. You have eliminated that as a variable so its either your medicine, like you say lumber can taste bad, or maybe somehow something got down into the heater possibly . . .
You said you already cleaned it out with iso right? Maybe iso left inside cooling unit? For the past day or two (I have had the Mighty since last Friday), I seem to be getting harsher pulls with the Mighty. Thanks for the reply and I don't want to waste space on this thread with my particular issue, but after I cleaned it with ISO, I ran it under water and then dried it with a hair dryer, so can't imagine its that either. You said you already cleaned it out with iso right? Thanks for that, didn't think about how I'm holding it might be affecting the air drawl, although the issues seems to be not the amount of vapor, but quality. I’m still getting a lot of vapor, but with what seems like small amounts of smoke, very weird.Hi Mike, sounds funny but this thing adapts to technique. If I pull with a loose grip ( allowing some air ) I get a medium but very smooth pull. If I make it an airtight grip and pull the air through real slow I get huge lungbusting hauls. And my temp is 196 then up by 1 degree every pull.
... That was my "clean" way of saying how you grip it in your lips, airtight or leaving some room. All the best. Thanks for that, didn't think about how I'm holding it might be affecting the air drawl, although the issues seems to be not the amount of vapor, but quality. Also called S & B and they recommended a burn off for a couple of minutes at high temp.
When I get home tonight I’m doing a full investigation.
oh, sorry, I though you were referring to the grip on the base, and whether than could be affecting anything. My bad... That was my "clean" way of saying how you grip it in your lips, airtight or leaving some room. All the best.
I agree. I don't use mine with water so the ease of use is definitely better. The vapor quality from both is fantastic and if I had to choose it would be the mighty. I had access to the minivap for about 3 months and it is great but I just prefer the mighty.I bought both at same time. Completely different animals. I have taken mine apart at least 20 times now and have not had one problem. As Adam suggested you need to put the O-ring as far down as possible. There are notches for all the O-rings in the Mighty and the Crafty. If they are placed where S&B designed them to go you should be fine, just make sure they are seated properly. I'm not trying to sound like a smart ass and apologize if I came across that way!People , myself included are tearing the O ring inside the cooling unit, natural farmer in the crafty thread suggested seating it as low ( down ) as possible so the logo locking device doesn't tear it. Thanks for the tip.
I would recommend that everyone with a Mighty/Crafty purchase the "Wear and Tear" set and the extra O rings set, you are going to need them. Even if you have not torn them, they wear out, and I have already spent too many minutes crawling on the floor searching for an O ring that popped out of my hand when cleaning.I have taken mine apart at least 20 times now and have not had one problem. Still even with the extra maintenance, I love the Mighty
The best thing I did was purchase a second cooling unit for the Mighty. After 1 week of medium usage I swap them out, clean the dirty one and life is great. After you clean it a few times you find different methods and it gets easier and easier. Having the second cooling unit on hand takes the stress away. I normally clean mine when I'm medicated and in a crazy way somewhat enjoy the process.yes one can be cleaning or drying while one is in use, I have 3 and that works great for me.
The "wear and Tear" set actually comes with an extra cooling unit as well! The best thing I did was purchase a second cooling unit for the Mighty.
