The Mighty/Mighty+ by Storz & Bickel

Well, interesting story, I was sitting in a chair by the lakeshore where the water nearby was shallow, up north at a camp site, and the mighty was in my sweatshirt pocket (careless mistake). Suddenly it fell out into water that's 6 inches deep, to the bottom. It was underwater for about 1 second before I grabbed it out, I still remember seeing it laying there underwater, it looked like a watery grave for my dear friend.

One thing that might of helped save it is that I had the mighty inside a thin plastic bag (the one it comes wrapped in when purchased). Now that's not a sealed bag, so this plastic its in is completely open at the top. But that must of helped delay its submerging in water because all the water has to enter from the top of this plastic bag, rather than an instant submerging without it. A fraction of a second of difference probably, that and my quick reaction helped minimize water damage.

It was completely soaked anyhow. The display was temporarily warped, the vibration also temporarily didn't work, and the mighty did a weird grumbling noise for 10 minutes, while off. I held it over a camp fire to dry it off.

But to my amazement, it never stopped functioning, and the vibration and display came back to normal an hour later. That incident was three months after purchase, now I'm nearly at 2 years with a still perfectly functioning mighty.
You were very lucky. I was not when I accidentally had it in water. This fried the circuits and I lost my warranty. luckilly S&B offered me a new one for about 200 Euro.

Hello everyone,

I would like to know how you use you mighty:

—How much did you pack in a capsule?
—What’s the minimal amount you put in?
—How tight you pack it?
—What grind consistency?
—What is your experience with micro-dosing?

Personally, I’m going to test with 0.1 g in one capsule. For micro dosing I use 0.025 in a capsule with the liquid pad (I put the herb on top). For the grind consistency, I don’t like a too fine grind because it doesn't stay in the capsule. When I’m at home, I use the mighty on the charger: it heats up quicker and it saves battery cycle. I'm a happy proprietary of two mighty: one it's brand new from S&B Germany, the second is the very used mighty of a friend, I'd buy it for €100 and send it to rma, they give me a brand new one:rofl:.
—How much did you pack in a capsule?
around 0.12g-0.14g.
—What’s the minimal amount you put in?
0.04g with liquid pad
—How tight you pack it?
Not too tight but i put some pressure on it
—What grind consistency?
Medium grind
—What is your experience with micro-dosing?
I prefer to use all capsule/bowl coz i like when my session is longer :)

About the battery life i sent an e-mail to S&B support:

I would like to know if when im' using my Mighty at home, is it better to stay plugged with the wall charger for save the battery life ?

S&b answer:
We would recommend to disconnect the power charger from the MIGHTY as soon as the device is fully charged.
Further, please see the information below on how to take care of the MIGHTY’s batteries.

Storage:

You should store the device at standard ambient temperature (ca. 20°C, no frost, no direct sunlight, keep dry)

If the device is not used for a longer time, you should store it at a battery capacity of between 20% und 80%.

Charging:

When using the Mighty frequently it is best to drain the batteries until about 20% capacity (one battery bar) and then recharge them fully.

From time to time, it makes sense to drain them all the way (no battery bar) and then recharge them fully; this will adjust the battery capacity and keep the battery gauge correct.

If the MIGHTY is operated while plugged in, the batteries will be bypassed. Therefore, the MIGHTY can be used with completely drained batteries if it is plugged in and switched on.

Have a good day everyone !!

Old & In the Way
Bypassed while plugged in, or bypassed while plugged in AND already FULLY charged? Or perhaps not really bypassed at all?
Maybe I'm missing something in your question, but it seems the next sentence in @Razshiro 's post clarifies the issue.

Interesting question might be, "Will Mighty work as plug-in if batteries are removed?"

I realize that the Mighty will work plugged in with completely dead batteries. It's the complete opposite that I was inquiring about. We do know that the Mighty charges while being used when needed so it's not bypassing the batteries since it's charging and discharging (not the best practice for battery longevity). What i'm curious about is if the batteries have stopped charging, is there any trickle charge still going through?

Just my opinion, but I don't think that the batteries are completely bypassed, when already charged and using while plugged in. I also don't believe the Mighty will work as a plug in with the batteries removed, but I would love to be wrong!

hm i don't get what u want to say?
the heater uses 30 Watts, the charger delivers 36 Watts so it should even charge a little bit while using the heater, but it won't discarge anytime while plugged in
And btw - with the 12V dc charger it will work in a car and with a small AGM battery it would still be kind of a portable
but completely without internal batteries, i doubt that will work - guess the internal management needs the battery resistance to work properly, but dead batteries should do it for that case

is this thing on?
Hey, I didn't see it mentioned yet...
The new Mightys have a three minute shutoff. Really happy with that, it's the perfect time to go into boost mode for me. That seems like a tiny detail, but it makes me appreciate the device much more.

Thanks you @Razshiro for your answer. It’s interesting to compare our usage and practice with the mighty. IMO using the mighty on the charger (when the battery are full) is harmless for the battery. It’s very convenient for me because I don't have to mind about the battery, even more when I passed it to my friends. When I use it on the battery, I try to have the shortest session possible for preserving the battery. I think shorter session is less harmful to the battery lifespan.

I just spoke to S&B US about this.
Told them my Mighty was out of warranty and asked what my options were. (Getting about 1 session per charge at the moment)
They told me my Mighty was one of the older ones and that it couldn't be worked on. Can't upgrade batteries or firmware.
Only option they gave me was to trade mine in for a new one for 250 USD. AKA they'd give me 100 USD for it. Not sure what I'm going to do yet.

Hope that helps!

Mine is now 36 months old. And it gets 4 bowls per charge. Sand B offered me $79 for new batteries, but highly suggested a new mighty at $249.

I'm just going to use mine until I can't. My hope is by then the mighty 2 will be out. Would that be the mightier?

In todays video I compared the Mighty with the Arizer Solo II
I tried to focus on more than just the obvious difference in vapor

It's also worth noting right now you can get the Mighty with glass wpa, glass mouthpiece, and a stand for 296 after coupon.
Or you can get the Solo 2 for 204 with 6 mouthpieces

I'm jealous!

Mine as a similar story, someone grabbed a towel from the bottom of the stack, mighty was in my towel off to the side.....

I reached for it as I saw it

starting to slide, but I was too slow/far to catch it. A one second dip into the spa was all it took.

Mine also vibrated until it died. It gave the Err004 for a few days, now nothing.

RMA'ing it in the next day or two.....

Just a little follow up on my mishap....

Big thumbs up for S&B Cali! I was still under warranty, but this was admittedly all user error. I would have been happy with a $79 fee for a new one. Got the email today, it's been repaired or replaced for free. Sure hope it's a new one!

You pay a little extra for a Mighty, but the unit and CS is top notch!

I have a Solo 2 and was looking for an excuse to buy a Mighty. Although efficiency and small bowls are important because I have small/sensitive lungs. This also means I like free-flowing. I also like maximum vapor and clouds, high temps, and maximum extraction.

So the Mighty seems good for me as long as the bowls are flexible. Can I do small bowls like Solo 2 or is it like the Davinci IQ where you need spacers and special packing... or not possible at all.

You can do small bowls. I like to use the concentrate pad as a means of reducing the bowl size.

I enjoyed that vid, Troy. Any reason not to mention a draw resistance comparison. I mention this because its a very important metric for many users.

Also, I agree that concentrates tend to make a mess of dry herb vapes....but I do, from time to time, make an herb/shatter sandwich in a S&B dosing capsule and run it through the Mighty at 410 and its very effective.

by the by, I almost always put a liquid pad on top of my Mighty loads. Keeps particulants out of the top screen and CU and it seems to add an additional conduction factor toward the end of the load so that the AVB is very even and dark brown.

Cheers

Thank you!!

I honestly completely failed to mention the draw resistance. It must have been the cat piss =D
Also very much appreciate the concentrate feedback!!

Nice work :)! - but, i'm guessing u don't mention the filling aid or the dosing capsules because u don't use them...so i'm wondering any specific reasons to neglect the convenience of those tools?
Cat piss - is it really the strain name or just the fermentation method  ;)
and btw magic erasers work on almost every bowl for cleaning, there are some nice posts in this thread about that...

Yeah the cat piss is a strain. This can was labeled Meerkat Piss, which doesn't turn up anything 'official' other than the grower. I assume it's the normal Cat Piss strain and they just played with the naming. I'd buy more if it weren't $60/can. It was pretty good!

I didn't mention magic erasers because I'm not completely certain the safety of the melamine dust particles and I didn't want to go into extra precautions (and heaven forbid start a material safety discussion...)

Cat piss - is it really the strain name

Hard to believe, but yes it is!!

Originally a clone-only phenotype of Super Silver Haze, Cat Piss is a sativa-dominant strain that has a uniquely pungent ammonia-like stench reminiscent of its name. It has been crossed with other strains to create seed lines with varying phenotypes including indica-dominant varieties, however it is generally considered to be more of a sativa. The flavors are sweet with undertones of pine, and the high is uplifting and cerebral with a nice relaxing body feel that makes it a good option for daytime use.
