Not sure how new but at least after the last time you did it. Though when I read what I wrote it is a bit inaccurate. They send you the new one right away and then you send in the warranty in or it voids your warranty.

Could MF confirm this?

If this is the case, then I am going to start moving away from the LB.

I'm on my second replacement and as I havent got the protective O ring for the bowl on my new LB I am expecting the sides to slip down the bowl at some point. (It happened on the last 2 even though I was careful and never touched the screen with anything but he brush).

My objection to this is simply the cost of postage.

2 replacements inside a 6 month period dont boad well for the LB reliability. With the old replacement system this wasnt such an issue. It goes wrong they send you a new one.

However I am not happy about the idea of having to pay shipping costs should this one go wrong, and the next and so on.

I very much view this as "changing the goal posts" for people who bought the MF under the no quibble warranty only to find that now we have to pay the P+P (mine is international).

MF do offer a good warranty, but dont lose sight of the fact that this warranty is rectifying faulty goods... the user error part of the warranty I have always though is way above and beyond, but in my case the warranty have been used to replace defective LBs not broken LBs.

First post here, lots of great information.

Looking forward to the a/c power plug-in module for the LB! Does anyone know if it has an activation button when inserted into the LB? Or do you have to hold it in contact like with the battery? Thinking that having to engage/disengage might be awkward...

Also hoping to get in on the beta testing for this. Waiting with anticipation. :peace:

So you don't like being able to get a LB for the cost of postage if it breaks? I think that is still a great deal. And as MagicFlight has said there is a reason behind doing it this way, yea it sucks but the few assholes that try to rip them off ruin it for the majority.

How often do you think you'll have to do this?

The thing is tiny. In a bubble envelope the total cost is probably around $3 max. You're getting a brand new device in return.

Paying the postage to return a warranty item is pretty common, and you still are getting the best warranty possible. I don't know about you, but $3 for that is not a big deal to me.

Yeah postage won't even be more than 5 bucks.. still a ton of peace of mind knowing if anything happens to my LB I can get a brand new one in the mail for only 5 bucks :|

Maybe I'm alone in this but I enjoy using the batteries. I already have a VB so the power adapter could be very handy, but I think the battery system is just so well thought out. If it ain't broke, don't fix it!

Stuey is shipping international. It's gonna be a lot more than 3 to 5 dollars. And clearing customs on a vape that was used for bud could be more of a hassle.

It never hurts to have options. I am intrigued by the option to vary temperature, too. I will be looking for a more elaborate vape when my budget allows, though. This LB is my first vape ever.

It would be great if the adapter for the Launch Box could be set to specific temperatures. Any chance of that?

It does have a power control (high to low) but no specific temperature readout or anything like that. It wouldnt make sense anyways because the temperature is greatly determined by how fast or slow you inhale/draw.

That makes sense. Do you have one yet? Do you like it? Are they still available or is the Beta sold out?

No beta units have gone out yet. People in this forum who have at least one post prior to October 26 get first crack at these puppies. MF has stated that after the beta units go out, it will probably be at least another 6 weeks before the finalized production units are available. http://www.vaporpedia.com/wiki/Magic-Flight_Launch_Box#AC_Power_Adapter

I'm trying to think of an item where return postage is covered in the warrantee and cannot come up with one. For example my "lifetime warrantee" Kitchen-Aid mixer was recently $35 in shipping to have fixed "for free". Still worth it.

Similarly I have some knives that are guaranteed for life and have "free sharpening" for the cost of postage (one way... they pay for it to come back). Totally worth it.

I think you're being a little spoiled by the kindness of MF. To expect the old unit is only fair... otherwise everyone who wanted one for their friend could just say "it doesnt get hot" and have a new one sent to their homes. Sorry you have to share the cost of all the unethical jerks out there, but don't blame MF. Their service is still about as good as it can possibly get.

Have you even read how ridiculous your post is?. First off 2 replacements in 6 months, so now you are on your 3rd LB.... but it isn't you it is faulty goods? Funny neither of my 2 boxes have ever been replaced nor am I expecting the screen to slide down from just brushing and neither of them have the ring.

All your replacements are user error, you are obviously applying too much pressure with the brush.

It really does give a whole new appreciation to the box. Damn, just... Damn.

Holy tits that is a good deal. To bad its sold out right now. Is this a new deal listing or something, just looked on there the other day and it cost that for just the charger basically.

Stu, thats a great call about puttin the small amount of cotton etc in the air path to keep the herb from falling out. Ski hill opens on saturday!!!!!

Jeff, i watched your video a few times when i was on the fence abouut buy a LB. One comment, why do u take the battery out when hitting? That would give tiny hits. Much prefer to wait til i see vapour, then start draw and vary speed to control temp, then take batt out like a second b4 im done the draw.

Also, its rediculous that anyone thinks the Magic Flight waranty isnt fair....

Get new batteries........It seems like the batteries are the cause of your "pissed offed-ness" , not your launch box technically

Even rechargeable batteries don't last forever.

I agree with stuey, the production cost and cost of materials of the LB is probably not 100 dollars and by paying this price i think and it used to guarantee that the owner of that vape should get a free hassle free replacement for any faulty units. I just wouldnt feel comfortable sending possibly incriminating evidence through the mail, paying to do so, after i had already purchased a 100 dollar lb with a lifetime warranty

i can understand that some people feel fine sending used lb's in but i just feel paranoid and almost feel betrayed that if my unit takes a turn for the worse (it has started to because there is a tear in the screen after only using the brush to touch it for two months)and no longer functions like an lb should, i have to then send in the broken one after receiving the new one or my warranty if voided?

It should be an option to send it in or not to help mf out with doing research and things, but most or all people who are on this site have integrity and character and would not try to sell their old broken lb or give it away or anything. I know that I would have enough respect for MF sending me a warranty unit that i could never even bring myself to take advantage of them like that.

one of the reasons i bought the lb and trusted it is because of the hassle free lifetime warranty
sorry if im rambling, just my :2c: on this new issue

Anyone who is interested in the development of the launch box should read this thread if you ever have the time. I just finished it and found it very interesting indeed. It's about the predecesor to the lb. The "Launch Tube" . It is especially intersting around page 10 or 11 when the lb is born. http://fuckcombustion.com/viewtopic.php?id=673&p=1

cheers!

or, say the word and my pre order money is yours.

Hi,

We actually have units and even have setup a special site where people on FC would be able to place an order for it. The only thing remaining is to get our SSL certificate for the webserver. Everything else is good to go. I am expecting to be able to post a link to the ordering site as soon as I get the go ahead from the IT guy.

Is the AC adapter going to be sent by Blisssville? I'd like to also buy the MAHA charger and some ABV containers together with the power adapter, would this be possible to do in the same order/package?

Thanks

Of course it doesn't cost $100 to make the LB. Did you expect Magic-Flight to make them, give them to people for no profit, and promise everyone absolutely free replacements for life? Does that statement look silly to you? It sure does to me.

Nobody made you buy the LB. When you did, you got a terrific device with a warranty that can't be beaten and is rarely matched. Now you're complaining because you might some day have to pay to send your old LB back? You do realize that nobody forces you to put any identifying information on the return, right?

Well let's see. From Canada, shipping an LB would be $3.50 if the weight was under 200 g, $7.00 if it was over. If he was shipping from Britain, 340g costs $7.85. From Germany, $7.92. So I guess it depends on what you consider "a lot". Me, I consider all those amounts trivial compared to the value I'm getting. As far as clearing customs is concerned, that's Magic-Flight's problem not yours, unless of course you a) don't clean the returning LB properly, and b) include identifying information with the return.

Edited for fat finger syndrome
