I have heard tons of good things about it but yet some people just can't stand the mflb. Why is that?:doh:
It is small, efficient, and fairly cheap with a lifetime warranty. I don't see any negatives...

It's got a learning curve and requires preparation that's specific to it as a vape:
  • You need to learn the right inhalation speed
  • Your herb should very dry
  • Your herb should be very finely ground; salt-like consistency is a good goal. A coffee grinder or the Magic-Flight Finishing Grinder will get you there
  • You need to learn when to shake the herb around between hits, because all the heat comes from the bottom
  • It's works better with smaller loads; "less is more" isn't intuitive
If you don't get all of those down, you can run into all sorts of trouble like uneven heating (leading to poor taste), sub-par vapor production, a smelly launch box (from using a lot of herb that's too moist), or even combustion (from drawing too slow or not shaking often enough).

It probably sounds like a lot of work when you read it here, but IMO it's not that hard and the rewards are great. When you treat it right, you've got an unbelievably small vape that has a very personal & earthy feel, comes from a wonderful company with unbelievable customer service, and is relatively affordable. If you can't tell, I'm in the "love it" camp.

I agree with your post completely. I love my MFLB's too.

I didn't hate it, but I didn't like the fact that I couldn't clean it under the screen so it would get rather smelly after some time. It was the first thing to smell when I got in the house. Also the fact that I had to carry lots of batteries with me. Oh, and the constant shaking between hits. Plus it's harsh vapor that made me cough so much. And the fact that small specs would get stuck on the screen between hits and got charred and ruin the taste.
Otherwise it was a little beauty and I'd love to get one again eventually, just for the joy it gives you to hold it. Beautiful craftsmanship! :)

I agree with all your points and would only add that the newer glyph batteries were a big improvement over both the original batts and the powerex. Its a very reliable little box and very easy to love once you figure it out.

Question: do the ones with the laser-cut lids make it hard to monitor for abv? They look nice, but wouldn't want to hurt functionality.

I also own a MFLB but i rarely ever use it. Its not that its a bad vape, just the other ones are better =).
If i sit next to my pc the volcano is my friend.
When i watch movies on the sofa i grab the solo
When i go and play with water-tools and bongs i use the LSV.

So the MFLB is the weapon of choice if i go outside and need to conceal my vaping. That rarely ever happens.
Honestly i rather combust pure herb in the pipe than use the mflb. Mainly because it lacks the "punch". Its like sucking thru a straw that is too tiny. You really need to work for it while other vaporizers are more convenient. Compare the MFLB to how little you need to care about how you suck on a volcano balloon.

All that does not mean its a bad device. If you are willing to invest some time you can get great results.
But it not really a newbie vape. Since its very cheap many newbies buy it and i guess thats part of the problem.

I would definitely buy one if i did not own one already because it works so great when you go to the cinema =)

Magic-Flight the company. You know I never really gave the saying on the back of the box very much thought. I thought it was just some hippy-dippy bullshit until the other day. I purchased a PA 2.0 in which the nickle platting was delaminating so I emailed Magic-Flight about it. Basically they gave me the choice to use the warranty and get a new one or keep it because it has a life-time functional warranty just like the launch box, and it will be replaced free of charge if it stops working. Who could ask for more? Magic-Flight's reassurance that my purchase is protected for life convinced me to just stick with the one I have. I knew Magic-flight had great customer service but they truly are the best of companies. They are so damn good it makes me feel loved.

That gibberish on the back of the launch box — it isn't gibberish.

When I first read about the MFLB I thought the same thing, but great customer experience after great customer experience has made me realize they are the real deal.

The MFLB team practises what they preach. I'm super impressed.

I didn't like my MFLB either but then learned the sipping method and it is fine after that. I take 2 batteries with me. If there are better portable vapes for flowers they are always $100's more.

I think there's three good reasons to not like the MFLB:

Operation: While a simple design, it's not user friendly. Lots of charging, pushing to make a contact, requires precise operation with little headroom for error.

Effect: For some people the MFLB just does not cut it. I could never get as high as I wanted to be with the MFLB because of how hard you have to work for such comparatively little vapor. The vapor is near 100% conduction effect, and has a huge comedown that makes me super tired. I go for convection vapes now.

And finally? The fanboys. I should be careful how I proceed here, since there's a lot of MFLB masters on this site that would not fall into this category; but there is a huge community of people who do nothing but praise the MFLB as the best vape in the world. It's huge on Grasscity. You open up threads on totally unrelated things, like "Should I buy a volcano" or "Best plug in vape" and you'll have thee, four people going on about how great the MFLB is without even reading the thread.

Kind of sounds like the solo here on FC. I have shared my launch Box with a bunch of people and only a few were too dense to be able to use it. Most got it down in a few hits it ain't rocket science or anything.

I don't know if I'd agree with this sentiment. I don't think what is going on at GC can be drawn in parallel to what goes on here, with any vaporizer. Here, people discuss vapes on their merits. If you say something as fact, you'd better be able to back it up if someone questions it. And you get a wide cross-section of opinions on all sorts of different vapes.

At Grasscity, and some parts of reddit, people see their choice of vaporizer as an extension of their own personalities. If you do not unequivocally agree with their choice, you are insulting a part of their very essence and they get very defensive, angry and usually end up saying anything to make it seem like they are right and you are wrong. For these communities, it's usually the MFLB. Thank goodness this does not happen much here, as in my opinion it embarrasses all vaporists when it happens, making us look like pedantic, territorial children. I enjoy reading this thread because it is one of the few places to get information about the box without letting fanboyism get in the way of the fact.

When I posted that post, it was in reply to a thread that was entitled "Why do some people dislike the MFLB". These aren't so much all my own reasons for disliking the box as they are what I think may be the reasons other people don't like the box. For me, it's just the high - I just don't like the tired high I get off of it. It's not so much about being able to master the box - I have (made a video a while back when someone tried to claim I just didn't like it because I couldn't use it) and still don't like it, but I appreciate it on it's own pro's and cons rather than affiliation with another product.

Did you mean to post the previous post in here? :hmm: Or in the "Why do some people dislike the MFLB" thread? I was wondering right when I read the first sentence.. It seemed a little left field LOL.

Yeah I meant for that to go in that thread, I just figured all the posts must have been moved in here by a moderator. Is that thread still active? If so I have no idea how I ended up in here.

Hmmm. It looks like that thread is redirecting here now??? I just found the link in the Search, and when I clicked it, it brought me here. That is kind of strange.

@CentiZen I totally agree with you about the difference between GC and FC and yeah we all don't have to be head over heals in love with every vape or even find each useful. It would suck if there was only one vaporizer out there, Different effects on different days with different vapes makes me happy.
