is there any way to get the updated p/a like by returning the awkward original one that I have, or something like that?
Perhaps, and I understand your wanting the new model (although having both I think performance is the same). However, this was not part of the deal, any more than you should expect Lexus to swap your 2 YO car for a new one.
Same as you could always have an 'accident' with your Lexus that totals it you could probably go that way with the PA of course, but without the risk of higher insurance rates to follow.
That definitely sounds like a question for Magic Flight Customer Service . . . mind you, I do like your thinking (even if a little cheeky
- or maybe thats just me) & to be honest I really would not be that surprised if they did you the honor.
PEACE
I tend to agree, they are likely to support such an effort without too much question if presented 'right'......however that's not really free. Someone will have to pay for it.......and that would be us. Everyone who buys MF products in the future will have to pay a little more to cover the windfall of a few. It's not really like 'making the rich pay their fair share' here I think.
I don't mean to sound harsh (I do understand the desire for a free upgrade) but it's how I see it. I agreed to trade mere money for my original PA. Free lifetime upgrades weren't part of the deal (or it would have cost more?). I'm not comfortable with the idea of changing that agreement (contract, actually) unilaterally after the fact. I don't expect them to upgrade mine for free on demand and pass the cost to someone else, unlike an honest failure which was (in theory) included in the purchase price.
Looking again at
the photo, that new metal piece looks like it could easily just be added to an existing PA (2.0 anyway - I'm not sure if the "battery" end of the original PA is the same). I might write them and ask about it.
That's how I see it as well. I can't see them changing the body part if they didn't have to (that is a clamp assembly added on). Field upgrades
might be possible (subject to the cable as well). Here I can see it (supplying free clamps) as 'cheap insurance' on their part against the cable failures this seems to prevent.
Good luck with the request, please let us know? TIA.
