Anyone else have a chronic problem losing MFLB short stems?

I lost the one it came with, and now 3 out of 4 which came with two whips I had. If I lose one more I'll have to saw the long stem in two!

lol.. I lost a few of the small stems. I really like the older style, smaller ones too! I ordered a few of the mini-whips from blisssville as I read they come with a little stem on each end. For a few bucks I ended up with a nice stash little stems. Hopefully a lifetime supply.

I have saved my longer ones too though just in case... I'll cut those puppies up if I have to.

- 2; In regards to having a slot for the brush, we have been unable to find a good place for it. Careful examination of the wood cutting shows that there really is just not enough room left for the additional hole and/or slot. Nearly every bit of of the wood is shaped or cut so that any brush would need to be very short and very small to fit inside the box. Therefore, we do not recommend attempting mods like this as it is likely that you will drill or cut through into someplace not intended.

A 3/4" long tool and the corresponding channel or hole seems likely able to be accomodated. Obviously no one is meaning to drill through components within the unit. Clearly installing the supplied brush would be perhaps not possible as you point out, but that's not what's being discussed.

An alternate and much simpler approach would be take advantage of the existing hollow tube brush shape and to push the back end of it onto the cover lock pin. This effectively attaches the brush to the box. While this will keep those parts together, it is not recommended that it be placed in a pocket this way, unless the brush is cut shorter, as it might bend/loosen the cover pin.

-- Magic-Flight

That's a fine idea but for me, more risky. Bending that lock pin would be bad news and highly likely, just as you say. I'm still very much game to give the research a bit more time

I have been really enjoying hooking my LB up to my Aqua Vape!!! Man, it is like magic watching the vapor travel up the tube as the LB heats up....and ever so smooth hits too!!! :p

While doing this right before the end of my draw I slide the plexi over for an extra whoooosh of air...it's like an old Graffx slider!!!

I have only used my LB a few times, and it's worked, but rarely does the material get browned--I noticed there was a small dent in my screen (no puncture) when I first got it, could this be affecting anything?

However, I suspect I haven't gotten the learning curve down yet, so I'm not really sure it has anything to do with my issues.

Would it be adequate to say that vaping through the LB is analogous to sauteing garlic in a pan? You want to keep the heat at the right level and stir frequently, but don't let it go too long or it'll burn?

You got it with the garlic in the pan deal! Petty much, shake the load between hits, and try different techniques listed in the thread...you'll be able to get a nice medium brown consistency after a while...I used to always re-vape my LB AVB in the extreme, now It goes in with the rest of the AVB, as its sufficiently brown.

I still do! i do it like this:

fresh grind in the trench
vape 2-4 times.
open the lid and regrind the contents with my fingers (makes most larger bits down to small and med size)
vape 2-5 more times
regrind in a grinder and cook it in my volcano on 7-7.5 1x then to the abv bag. even after all this it's usually a golden/medium brown.

I'd love to look at boring a hole for an on-board brush storage. Some type of tool to move the material around in the trench and the sides. I don't carry that cool little brush with me and a finger doesn't work well

I'll try that in a blank block of maple. Would need some sort of screw-in brass cap, I guess.

Any luck NC? I have the ball catch and am dying to install it, however I'd like to place this where an on-board storage brush won't be going. Didn't know if you had new insights

I'm not sure about the dent affecting anything, but....are you using the stock batteries? I used to think my LB was defective because I was using the stock batteries and the box just wasn't getting very hot. Once I tried stronger batteries (i.e. Powerex 2700s), it's like a different box. My loads get nice and brown now.

Just a thought....hope this helps.

So I've had my mflb for a couple of months now and have only used the batteries that were provided so far. Like 2 months ago one of the batteries got very very hot and think some of the inside liquid or whatever came out and it didn't ever work again, I have misplaced or maybe threw away the other battery and the charger so I was wondering should I peeled energizer battery be able to power the mflb. I've used two different ones to try and get a connection but no luck. Do I need to send my box in to get a new one?

Batteries should be at least, 2000 mah, iirc. So most store bought batts won't work...check out the vaporedia MfLB page, thisnlink goes to vaporedia/MfLB/batteries vaporedia/MfLB/batteries

I love my short stems too, but have never lost one because I never remove it except to clean it. I still take it everywhere with me and leaving the short stem in never caused me any problems. Also removing and inserting the stem all the time will cause wear to the wood over time.

Speaking of short stems, MF - you said you're working on glass stems, will there be short glass stems? Please consider making those :)
Also, how durable will the glass stems be? I imagine you can't make the glass too thick, so if the LB falls on the floor the stem will probably break?

Been a lurker for awhile, finally decided to register. I've had my MFLB for a good 3-4 months now, and it is so awesome. It has pretty much replaced my herbalaire for solo or + a friend experiences. I am hoping the a/c adapter hits production soon.

A few things I've noticed along the way, to hopefully help new MFLB users

- Spring for a good charger and extra batteries. The included one works well, but once you get the hang of how to use it, you'll want a good charger and reliable batteries. I got the recommended MH-C9000 charger and an extra set of powerex 2700s ($50 + $12 for the batt off amazon). You'll notice the difference immediately, and besides, 4 charged batteries are better than 2

- Hitting the box native is nice, since the stem can get coked once in awhile. It's all about technique, experiment until you find a style that suits you. I like to pulse the breaths in when using a stem, or when using the box native, create a seal with your mouth on the box and inhale through your nose only. I think both these methods are touched on in detail over at vaporpedia.

So far this has been an exceptional purchase, the only thing is that it has been a battle to stay disciplined and not use it 24/7. However, I train muay thai (a cardio-heavy martial art) regularly, and my cardio has not been affected adversely. In fact, I've done some incredible things when combining the two, but I'll wait for a thread on that

peace everyone, thanks for a great invention. Let's move the world forward, start air-dropping these things over other countries or something

Ive never registerd to any of these blog thingys dont really know how to work em either.....I just had to chip in my 2 cents! I have had the box for about 5 to 6 months now and must say i love Magic Flight and there whole team!
I got the beta power adapter about 3 months ago...all i got to say is if your box hasnt been used till you plug it in...It took a bit getting used to a setting the tempture and breathing rite but its like riding a bike once you got it down it aint no thang!!
Well about two weeks ago i noticed a tear where the electrodes meet the screen. ( I dont know what the cause was i have always been careful cleaning and all that, it may have been that i had a older box or maybe with the power adapter the box gets too hot thus making the weld on the electrodes get weak?) Anyways whatever the cause i got in contact with Magic Flight. Within a week i had a new box and im all the way out here in Europe... so yeh they are on top of theres!...i just wish all buisness had this mentality! THANKS MFLB!

Has anyone here used the energizer batteries? Mine are actually pretty strong... I have the PA as well so I can compare the strength of it pretty well. I would say whereas the PA is an obvious 10/10 in power, the energizers to me seem to be 9/10 or even 8/10 at worst (freshly charged of course).

I liked my MFLB when I had it, but one problem it did face for me was that it was NOT a party piece. 1-2 people were max for me as it did take a while to get high then more then that number of people. Though I have to say it conserved MUCH better then anything I had seen prior.

Wool435,
I got my first Launch Box around July 2010. It was AWESOME!!! In the fall I began having an issue with the screen and the awesome peeps at customer service sent me a replacement Launch Box, no questions asked. They are super groovy! I was excited about this, but the down side was that they sent me a new "updated" model which requires the user to press the battery MUCH more firmly as you vape. I kept having heating problems because of this "improvement." Vaping is a slower process than smoking, so the amount of time you use the battery can seem tedious when the process is made to be awkward. (I had to press firmly enough so that it sort of hurt my fingers. Then I started using the palm of my hand, and that was uncomfortable, too). Using the batteries to heat my box became a concentrated effort. It wasn't something I could just do, which is especially important because I use my herbs medicinally, and there are times when I wake up at night needing relief, and I need to be able to do the whole processes quickly and easily. I don't want to wake up too much to fumble with batteries in an effort to apply very firm pressure. Basically, using the new box in the middle of the night became too difficult. Ugh. I finally gave up. Don't get me wrong, it is a cool box, but I don't think getting high should take so much effort. I hope they go back to the original model which was much quicker and easier to use.

I wanted to request a different one, but I didn't have the heart to complain a 3rd time. You know. It seemed like that would be too much. Still, I'm bummed because the first one I had was SUPER AWESOME.

I think they added a rubbery ring which may be the culprit giving you the resistance you describe.
The ring may be easily removeable but I would maybe check with them on how to remove it.
