It depends on how often you're hitting it. I can go through a trench in 5 minutes if I really wanted to, but usually just hit a trench occasionally over an hour or so.

Agreed.

Not sure what you mean by complete my sesh. I don't like to pack a trench and finish it as fast as i can. One trench can last me hours, sometimes under an hour, depends on what i want to do.

Please describe your "sesh" :D

Nope. I cover the bottom of the trench with ground up material and a few crumbs of material and then just vape it all in 1-3 hits so it's all duff/ABV.

burnt screen on magic flight

well i got my first vaporizer the other day and was really excited. holding the battery in was annoying so i did take the o-ring out and made the stupidest noobie mistake and forgot the battery in and now there are 3 spots on the screen that are burnt, i think from the herb combusting. the burns are black/grey and stretch along the screen and of course doesn't come off.

im pissed at myself, does this effect the functionality of the box? im hoping i didn't make the screen more fragile. :/

Modnote: Thread merged.

It shouldn't damage it too much. Take a q-tip that has been soaked in alcohol and lightly dab over the charred parts. Be gentle and give it some time. Eventually you should be able to get most of the tar out.

Don't beat yourself up. I've combusted a couple of times in my LB (by mistake, of course) and my screen is fine. Do a clean cycle with a battery. This and a few trenches will take the burnt taste out of the box. The screen may stay discolored, but it does not have any effect on the functionality of the box.

That just happened...
Shine a flashlight into the draw hole and look down through the screen. As long as the holes aren't blocked (you can still see through it) then everything is fine.

It has happened to the best of us :lol:

You're fine just clean it with a tiny bit of ISO and run a battery through it with an empty trench and the lid opened.

A little help.

After you use the powerex 2700 for a trench or two. Because there is still charge in the battery do you have to discharge the battery first then charge it or just charge it ? I want to charge these the right way to get the most out of them.

Two. One is the regular birch model, the other is a special koa LB that I received as a gift from magicflight for preparing the Vaporpedia page.

Any chance you could put up a pic of that koa model???

Sure:

I hope you'll agree that it's a handsome beast. It definitely hits smoother than my birch model.

I got this a while ago and I've avoided posting about it until now because I was hoping for an announcement from magicflight that they would be offering limited edition LBs from various woods for the holiday season, at which point I could then show off the koa version as an example of what you could expect. Note: This was just my hope based on a casual comment from magicflight somewhere in this thread, and shouldn't be taken to mean that any such offering is actually in the works.

Thanks, but please don't underestimate your own effort. I've read that entry (and updated it somewhat) and it is excellent work. Some of us have more time on our hands than others is all.

Very nice custom LB pakalolo! :D

Being a wood lover, I would also love to see magic flight get into other wood types. We'll have to wait and see what happens.

Wtf? Is my box defective? I couldn't vape a trench in 5 minutes if i wanted to.

A typical "sesh" for my consists of packing a trench 1/2 to 3/4 full and trying to vape it as efficiently and as fast as i can. I end up taking like 20 hits in a sesh somehow because my hits are somehow weak maybe? I vape it until its light brown. My last sesh took 30 minutes. 30 minutes of constantlly hitting my vape until its light brown. kind of a pain in the ass.

Any suggestions?

@pakalolo
lovely looking lb..looks great

@momofthegoons
Would love to see it also, but would it increase unit cost much I wonder?

@fuckyourcouch
on average i guess it should about 10 mins for 10 good rips .. for me when i was getting the best hits, I would put in a full trench.Put batt in and wait to see thick vapor, 8 secs about. Then take a slow long 30sec pull, increasing breath quickly for the last 5 secs, take batt out and clear the rest.
After ten hits of this i was medicated beyond belief and the herb was nice and brown.
Sometimess Id take a few extra hits at very high temps to get the rest of the cannabanoids and id be very drowsy...in a good way.

The beauty of the box is how adaptable it can be. whether it be a few quick lower temp hits for a mild buzz or full trench vaped to the max.hope this helps...

champ

pakalolo, where's the air channel on that koa model? on the birch from 6 months ago there is an air channel by the copper wire

There is one there it is just difficult to see. Also the new air channels look different than the old ones

It's there, you just can't see it in that picture. It's in the same position, just broader and shallower than the one on my birch LB. From other pictures I've seen, I think they have changed the shape of the air channel on all models, so that's not a particular characteristic of the koa LB. For all I know, that change could be the reason for the smoother hits.

For those interested, magicflight has told me that if they do offer other woods like this, they would be limited editions with a special serial numbers, priced at $169. I'm sure some will think that's expensive, but I would have gladly paid that for mine. In fact, if they do offer them I might just buy another one.

I believe there was a MF post awhile back that said they may do something like that around the holidays.

I would totally grab a custom wood one for a backup....I was gonna order a backup just because but I think I'll wait a month or so and see if I can get a custom wood one.

Beatiful Koa LB tho!!!

It would be uber cool if Ed of Ed's T&T could source some of the exotic wood he finds.

I was thinking the same thing! I love the stuff he does, but having fucked combustion, most of them don't work for me anymore. He finds some incredible wood that would look mighty fine as an LB.

Thanks for posting the pic. Very nice looking box indeed!

I wonder if you made one from mesquite or hickory you could get that "smokey wood" flavor? That would be really cool :D

How does this Portable Vaporizer compare to the Iolite Vaporzer and Vapir's NO2 Vaporizer? I'm personally a fan of the NO2 Vaporizer, but I have yet to try the Magic Flight Box Vaporizer. However, I have heard nothign but great things about it.

@MAGIC FLIGHT

I'm onto my 3rd LB now, and I have noticed both first hand and via this forum that there seems to be a generally accepted concept that the LB runs hotter to begin with and cooler after its break-in period.

Personally I think that it works better when it runs hotter.

Could some kind of adjustment "thing" be added so that it could be made to run hotter after its initial break-in period?

Hi,

From our own testing, we have not noticed any 'break in' period with the unit itself. We suspect that observations to this effect are much more likely to be associated with the batteries. The discharge profile for the first 15 seconds of use immediately after a battery is charged is different than the discharge characteristics for most of the remainder of the battery cycle. This curve itself changes depending on the number of complete charge/discharge cycles the battery has passed through, particularly for the first few cycles. Given the intensive usage and battery cycling that the Box imposes on the battery, these effects are somewhat more pronounced than would be evident from testing that the battery manufacturer would know of.

As such, our working hypothesis is a combination of the following two factors: 1) changes in the battery itself, and 2) changes in the manner that the battery is used. In particular, new users are more likely to pull the battery off the charger and immediately use it, whereas later, there is probably allowed a 'cooling off' period from when the battery is charged and when it is first used.

This is not to say that there might be some effect with the unit itself that we have not observed or do yet know about, only that we have not detected such effects ourselves.

In regards to your question about making an adjustable Box, we have an adjustment on the desktop power unit that will allow for hotter (or cooler) operation. These will be available soon.

The LaunchBox is smaller, more stealthy, MUCH better warranty, and has higher percentage of positive reviews in relationship to negative reviews than either the Iolite or the No2. MagicFlights consistent visibility here is an indication of the excellent customer service that they provide. For the money, I don't believe that there is another portable that can touch it.

Regarding the No2, you may want to read the No2 thread. Too many reports of a very nasty taste coming it, and considering Vapir's checkered history for leaking vapor and such, I don't think you will find any of the veterans here recommending it over either the LaunchBox or the Iolite.
