Hey guys. Looking into getting an MFLB.

I've seen the price everywhere as $119. I actually thought you could pick one up for $79. Has the price increased recently?
If you don't mind getting a 2nd hand one, I've gotten a couple of barely used MFLB kits off Craigslist for ~$40 in the past, and they were both real, and practically brand new and almost completely clean under the trench still.. IMO the MFLB is a vape that many people will pick up from their local smoke shop as their first vape, and due to unreasonable expectations, a lot of them will be disappointed and give up on it sooner than later IMO.. so it's not always too hard to find an almost new one locally on CL for a steal :2c:.. If the wood under the trench is mostly new and clean, and it doesn't seem like an obvious cheap knock off, you should be good :tup: Just for good measure, I also e-mailed Magic Flight both times to make sure my serial numbers/warranties were still Valid too :tup:

I've had an interesting dance with the flight box through my weed career as I like to call it lol. I had smoked a few times and hadn't gotten high and really was intrigued to try a vape when I ended up trying my cousins vaporbrothers style vape and got very high for the first time. I got an MFLB from an aqquantiance with a grinder for 50 bucks and was basically set to go for an amazing deal. I think a combo of my ridiculously low tolerance and my ability to research enough to figure out the MFLB has a pretty tough learning curve that I was able to get pretty damn stoned off of almost no weed. I had that for 3 months until I got caught by my mom(this was a few years ago, lol I'm so glad I don't live at home anymore...) and she took all my stuff...I ended up not vapingfor a few months but eventually started smoking after a few months since I didn't have a vape. I got another MFLB again for 50 bucks this time, again another steal but at this point got really into smoking and ended up selling the flight box a few months after. This is the low period of my weed career, the dark ages as you may call it of regularly smoking pipes. Eventually mostly since I had moved in with my girlfriend and wanted it not to smell like weed all the time and for efficiency I got an underdog log vape, which unfortunately got stolen recently...but this reintroduced me to the world of vaping. With the added efficiency I got really heavy into vaping and was basically stoned 24/7 from about January of this year until July.since the log vape wasnt portable I had an itching to have a flight box again. I remembered my cousin saying he had had one years ago. Well it ended up that he had given it to another of my cousins who gave it to another cousin and she still had it in her closet! None of them had found the magic in the box and so hadnt thought much of it but luckily kept it. Well around this July my log vape got stolen and I decided to cut back on smoking and now I load little dustings of weed into the trench and with my refound low tolerance I get blasted after a couple hits just like the good old days of when I first started vaping. Somehow it seems through my entire weed career I've made a 360 and gone right back to where I started, microdosing with the MFLB and getting nicely toasted. So just wanted to come and write about my dance with the flight box. I hope for many years of stoney peace to come from this magical little box

Got my Orbiter yesterday :-D Vaped some hash off of the official concentrate tray via a PA2 and got proper wasted. This is now my dedicated concentrate device, don't think I'll need the Muad'dib that I was planning on getting. That seems to get really dirty underneath the tray...ATM all I need to do is torch the tray after use and the MFLB stays squeaky clean. The other Nice thing about the Orbiter itself is that I no longer need to put custom screens behind the stem for particle filtration :-D

Was thinking about how to connect my MFLB to a 14mm fitting in the shortest possible way the other day and here is what I made. A WonG adapter made from osage orange wood. The connector tube is 1/4" thin wall stainless steel which provides very good air flow. I use the same ss connector tube for my wooden MFLB stems which allows them to have very good air flow. The WonG adapter can also be used as a right angle mouthpiece as it swivels to any position.

No, but I did buy a carb cap for my banger and the fucker didn't fit :| part that wraps around the arm of the banger (that goes down to the joint) was too big, and I didn't have mine with me to check... now I have to flip it upside down and the air stem doesn't drop into the cup... low water profile and small size should mean tasty dabs though ;)

I keep low temp vaping with the flight box and being like ugh the battery must be weak or I'm not hitting this right I'm not seeing any vapor at all. And I start convincing myself that maybe my tolerance is getting up and I'm just not gonna feel it cause its low temp vaping and I've been vaping a lot lately. Then sure enough 20 minutes later im on the bean bag chair and I can't move lol.

Is there a consensus on what the best batteries are to use? I have some 2000mah batteries and I swear I used to have stronger ones years ago but don't know what to buy...

I believe the recommendation is still the glyph batteries that MF has. The Launch Box system is a bit rough on the batteries, it's basically a "controlled short circuit" and "opens the tap all the way" so to speak. No electronics to regulate the drain or anything, plus you have to charge them way faster than if the batteries were in a different application (camera, controller, etc).

Magic-Flight glyphs are the best all-round. If you use more often than every 2-3 days, the second choice is Powerex Imedions. If you use more often, then the second choice is Powerex 2700s. Only the glyphs come stripped and ready to use.

After 5 years of launching in too many environments to list
I swear by the Glyphs.
Just hit my ancient LB in native mode, after many months away, and the immediacy of the hit with all those flavors right there at my tongue ,well the vape signature is so unique.
I can't believe that I had this vape gathering dust.

About a week ago a new Monocle Edition MFLB was delivered and I’m in love!

The warm feel of the wood in my hand;
the look of the brass and optical glass top;
the simplicity and functionality;
I haven’t even fired it up yet, and I’m in love!

The smooth, cool draw;
the ability to vary the intensity of the vape by modulating the draw;
to get a subtle, cerebral high with one technique;
and get a full-on, kick-butt body high with another technique;
I haven’t done more that a couple of dozen trenches so far, and I’m in love!

Since the Monocle Edition most likely has similar operating characteristics to the regular Launch Box and most all of you FC readers have a lot more MFLB experience and knowledge than I have, I’ll refrain from attempting to post a review. Suffice it to say that I’m going to order a Frequency MFLB in walnut to complement my Monocle.
I’m in love!

Here's an update ...

After a lot more trenches I'm even more pleased with my Monocle MFLB!

There has been one problem though. Once in awhile the lid would open very slightly while tapping and shaking and a small amount of herb would be lost. I found that the wire/index-hole were conspiring to overpower the indexing ball and offset the lid a few degrees. Forty-five seconds bending the wire with a pair of needle-nose pliers and the problem is solved.

Some of you MLFB purists may be offended, but I've started rounding the draw-hole end of my Launch Box to be more comfortable for direct draws. It's starting to feel more like my 1970's favorite wood pocket pipe.

This afternoon the mail lady handed me my new Zebrawood MFLB from Magic-Flight and I'm so very pleased with it!

The Zebrawood is as pretty as the photo on the MFLB site ... beautiful grain ... a real pleasure to look at as well a to feel. The MFLB design and workmanship is up to Magic-Flight's usual high standards!

The draw resistance, vapor temp and taste, and cloud density are almost identical to my other MFLB boxes ... couldn't be better. If you're looking for a light and airy high, then MFLB can't be beat!

My only concern is that I cannot tell if the last digit of the serial number is a zero or an eight because of the zebra pattern ... and this could be a problem if I should need warranty work.

Congratulations! I suggest no further worry, start enjoying it.

In the unlikely event you need to return it, email them a photo and let them tell you which it is..... At that point at least one of the two should be 'unclaimed'?

Thanks @OF .... Excellent advice. Believe me, I have been (and am right now) enjoying my new Zebrawoood! I love the light, airy draws from any Launch Box.

The reason I happened to think about the serial number is that I'm presently in the process of negotiating a replacement for my Monocle box which stopped heating a few days ago.
