The Lotus Vaporizer

Yes, you’re right — mine is painted. I hadn’t realized Vapor Store still had natural ones when you ordered 😅 It looks really slick. No nylon bag like the listing had mentioned, though — instead a nylon ‘spice blender’.
I didn’t get the bag either. The one I had from my older lotus just holds 1/4“ sockets.. now that I think about it, I can’t find a difference from the pics the wife sent me and my older lotus. Either way, I’m satisfied.

I received my order from Vaporstore as well. These are not the Model III for sure. The ones I received don’t even have the stirring tool included nor do the stem magnets have any capability of holding the cap on either. I bought my first Lotus from them awhile back and it was a Model I. These aren’t even that. At least with that one I received a bag. I’ve contacted them to see about addressing this. Should have got the newer one when I had the chance. Oh well 1st world problems. 😷

These are turquois as well. They don’t have the stirring tool either. I guess the good thing is they have the sunburst plates. And I have something turquois for whenever desert Southwest motifs come back into fashion...

Mine has a stirring tool and a metal rim but no patent number. There’s a wee bit of excess glue on the inside which I’ll sand down. Looking forward to taking it for a spin later this afternoon.

but the time needed and the 'ritual' every time.. ohh myy.. not to mention that it's a no-go outdoor.. I was fed up looking like a crackhead whenever I wanted a hit.. :p

I'm one of those lucky enough to have got a Lotus before the closing, thanks to fellows here. I'm actually liking it a lot, yet those two things you mention (the ritual and especially the 'image' you give) are not so great to me. Being ignorant, what would you consider an alternative to it as far as quickness and effectiveness, but more discreet?

if you like the torch-vape style, Dynavap is definitely quicker and much more discreet in all aspects.. not to mention the effectiveness..!! Those hits that you'll have with most, if not all of them, would take a lot of mastery level and consistency with the Lotus..
One of the smartest moves with it is to start with a Titanium tip set, not stainless, and see how it goes for you.. it's a whole new level of "vapotential"(!!) out there with the dynas.. HAIL THE DYNAS(TY).. LOL

In fact since i do have the Lotus, i'm leaning more towards something electricity based, but with possibly similar performance both for vapor and for quickness. Maybe the dynavap with an inducion heater... Or something else?
Hate to repeat myself, but this is from a totally ignorant perspective :D

I also received my vaporstore order today. Sadly this is a pretty old version of the lotus to me - the one I stupidly sold off had a much nicer unpainted wood finish, nicer looking cap, magnet, and integrated stirring tool/stand.

I hope this at least produces the same quality vapor - the black paint concerns me a little bit.

The stem was *very* dirty so I'll definitely be giving that a clean before use.

The WPA in my order was not included at all - I have contacted their support. The stem is cool, but the best experience for me was always with a j-hook.

:( shouldn't have sold it to begin with I guess! That's my fault.

Dang, I feel a little guilty. My order came as I was hoping it would.. I did actually get the black lotus bag, she just didn’t include it in the pics she sent me.

i do like those black caps though.......

If you have any interest in trading black for naturalé, let me know — I haven’t used it yet and prefer the naked look, but there weren’t any when I checked out (it sounds like we otherwise got the same version). No pressure, obviously! 😅

Edit to add:
Lack of a nylon bag worked out — I found this nifty glasses case among old odds and ends, fits everything quite nicely (the Lotus is in the little sleeve which was included with the case):

Don’t feel guilty. Vaporstore misrepresented the product they had in stock. They had all three “models” up at one point a few weeks back. They then sold the ones they had left as all being Model III which they even tried to switch the price higher after Max announced he was closing. It appears they basically took their old stock and their scraps and piecemealed a bunch of them together with no concern for actual accuracy. I didn’t receive my wpa either.

I think to get the same performance you would need to look at something like the TinyMight or Milaana. I have a few electric portables and they're nice for what they are, but they dont perform as well as a torch powered vape in my experience.

Happy to report this older cap hits just as good as the new ones. I will definitely miss the integrated stir stool but I can live without it. Will keep my eyes out for a WPA if vaporsolo can’t make it right.
My OG cap has always worked fine and I keep a toothpick on hand to stir with. I’m wondering if I could simply insert a short length of stainless steel into one of the air holes and achieve the same thing? Maybe even a portion of the toothpick? I’ve never had one with the stir tool nor seen it in person so I’m not sure exactly how it is attached...

I would think blocking one of the airflows would reduce the overall effectiveness, and also cause some type of "imbalance" in airflow, no? I think you could probably attach something next to one of the holes, but I think I can live with keeping a stir tool around - as much as I enjoy the lotus, it will never be my daily driver (or getting daily use). From memory, I think the stir tool was "inserted" into the wood on the newer caps - and likely glued in there as well. It also acted as a "stand", to keep the hot metal ring off of any surfaces.

Woooow. Why did I wait so long to get one of these? I'm in love. Just moving the torch in a tight little circle around the center of the plate nets nearly-instant, tasty results. And it's so pretty...

It's definitely a unique and minimalistic device - it also can produce some of the best vapor I've had :) hopefully someone will pick up the torch on this one... pun intended :p

Edit: VaporStore just got back to me and will be shipping out a WPA today!

The Lotus was the second vape I bought back in 2014. All the vapes I have bought since have been compared to it as a standard for excellent vapor production. Most could not compete effectively until RBT came along and now the TM.
I love my VapCaps, and they certainly do the job, but they haven't the flexibility and control that the Lotus provides. They are a little less druggy looking in use so may be more appropriate (or comfortable) to use in public.
It is a shame that many are just learning about this vape as Mendicino closes it's doors but who knows, someone may pick up the torch. Regardless, I am very glad I found out about this vape early in my vaping hobby...

i also bought last minute Lotus as i read about the company shutting down. should be here today. cant wait to try it. the videos i saw, suggest its straightforward, 3-4 s heating the middle of the plate and then Start drawing?

Yep - that's about right! The amount of time pre-heating will depend on the size of your flame as well. Sometimes I go as short as 2s or as long as 6s depending - but I found it's pretty easy to get a feel for that quickly, especially if you can run it through a j-hook and see the vapor production. Also, I would say you do the full time of pre-heat for the first hit, but if you are taking subsequent hits right after, you can reduce that time as everything is already a bit warm.

The other tips I have are to learn to inhale at the proper speed (Lotus recommends making a full breath last for 10s), and also to stir in between hits. For the flame length, I know with the newer caps you can make it the length between 2 "points" on the lotus on the cap, not sure if that's the same for the older cap I got, but by now I have a good feel for a proper flame height.

Mine came with a nice little starter guide pamphlet which covers most of this ^
