happy lotus friday ... giving my new maple/orange lotus a spin!

I wonder how the orange ring would look on the old turquoise caps...

Just received my first Lotus and noticed one of the screws doesn’t sit flush to the top plate, it’s sticking out with about 1 thread left to go in. Tried screwing it in, won’t go any further. Got the replacement kit with it so took apart the plates to see what was up, the hole for that particular screw is just not as deep as the others. I’ve tried screwing it down further but I think I’ve smoothed the bottom of the hole from trying so much that there’s nothing for it to catch.

Emailed Inhale with a video of the device and they said they couldn’t see anything wrong and to try to use the device to see if it still works. I replied that I was worried the top plate wouldn’t be airtight and would draw air over the top plate as opposed to underneath. One reason I grabbed the Lotus instead of a direct draw butane device like the sticky brick is I don’t like the idea of directly inhaling from a butane pathway (not trying to debate safety, to each their own, just not something I’m interested in).

I haven’t tried the device, I’m pretty sure it will work as far as vaping goes but the airpath has me concerned. Looking for others opinions on the picture of the not-tight screw below and whether I should push them to either fix this device or replace it?

Thanks!

Hi, yes it's a bit unfortunate, he should be more attentive.

I wanted to change the heating plate and came across a screw that was impossible to remove. I wrote to them, and they told me that I would order the vapman 2.0 which was in my basket. he will send me a new lotus. And I wrote to them that for the moment I did not want to buy the vapman, but I asked them if I bought a box, if they could give me the new lotus with it, and they kindly accepted.

you should insist on a replacement. it is definitely not compliant and unsightly. Although it should work.

I was fortunate that @Vitolo parted with his precious long stem lotus so I could finally get my white whale vaporizor. Back when this was available, I couldn't afford to buy one, then they went out of business and became unobtainable. So far, it's better than I expected, and an extremely refined vaporizing experience.

As others say, the OG aluminum stem gives very dry warm vapor that is harsh. Maybe it's the terpenes too, but I doubt it. If they remade this stem in stainless steel it would be a day one purchase for me. Because it's aluminum, I can't put any cooling spirals in to tame it. Shame. Looks amazing, though.

I haven't gotten dense vapor running the other wpa attachment through glass. Probably my technique, or too much air flow, or both.

The biggest surprise to me is how well it works on my (modded) grav sherlock. Cooling is absolute, and I find I get absolutely massive convection clouds with no hot spots or combustion out of it. The looks are top notch, too. It's like a cute snail with a wide brim hat or something. The lotus wpa base is a permanent fixture on this pipe now.

Question- The plate on this is the (I suppose) ancient style without the lines. I'm going to be buying spares from vgoodies anyways, but should I expect any performance increase if I swap in the modern lotus hot plate?

Ah! Nice find. Love your Grav, too.

Ok, so iirc the plates with rays are actually the OG plate style that was changed some couple years into production. I think what I read was that the plates were thickened for the higher temp rebuild and the rays were no longer needed to add stiffness.

I read also that the regular stamping plate for the 'newer style,' smooth plates had been screwed up so they've been using the stamper for the old-style plates with the rays. I think the material and thickness, etc, is the same as the later, post-high-temp-build plates. So modern plates that look old-school is what I believe these are.

Mine came this way too. I think their machine might have been miscalibrated when drilling those three holes.

I managed to get mine screwed down all the way and holding the top plate properly but it is still angled a bit. I think as long as you have pressure on all 3 sides of the plate it will not affect function. But if you aren't confident in your ability to screw it in those last 3 rotations without stripping the head of the screw then don't mess with it. Voice your concerns to them and they should replace it.

Don't forget to get the OG wpa, bag and instruction leaflet......

You rascal... Okay now tell me besides the blue, black, original maple, and the 5 that have been released with Inhale are there any others I should know about??

There's the OG maple, the two color ones, the high-temp, the high-temp with black ring, and the saucer that I know of. Then the new ones. Maybe there are others?

Haven't seen the two high-temps mentioned or the saucer. I'll have to wade through the board for it a bit more...

This black one's a High-temp and I think every one that came after it was high-temp as well. They just made it the standard version, iirc. So the orange ring one is as well. The saucer's cool. I think they were out the last couple years before the company closed. Saucer's on the right:

Gotchaaaaa. I really like the UFO... another added to the list. I could live without the "high temp" ones though I do like the shaping on the original models a lot. Turquoise and UFO are the two I'd want most at the moment.

Thanks for this little history reminder :) But i’m a bit confused. What is the saucer ? Is it the same as the UFO ? And is it the pic @coolbreeze added in second ? The lotus with the edges that come up ?
Exactly, the same thing by either name. I think the idea was to keep people from touching the hot metal. I've never used one, but people seemed to really like them.
