I cough maybe once in five bowls (and even when it happens, it's a small cough) with the dry stem, because I take (and enjoy) more delicate, measured hits. Usually within a second of feeling vapor in the back of my throat, I remove the heat. And lately, I've been restricting myself to even shorter hits sometimes (about 6 seconds), and I'm finding that this is really where the flavor is.Nevertheless guys, dry hits give you stiff throat. Although they're tastier and to an extend more powerful, they will get you coughing much easier than a bubbler/bong. The hits you take with those, are enormous!
I personally prefer any water tool to the stem or a pipe but the stem works like a charm and for outdoor use is just what you need! 4x4 off road!

I also maintain a low tolerance though. I'm honestly surprised by how much a lot of people vape/smoke, when 0.05g can keep me going for a couple hours at least.
I really appreciate a lot of things about the design of the WPA, and agree with others on here that it's truly a superior design (though personally I'd prefer a more substantial handle), but I nonetheless wish I hadn't paid extra for it, as the pipe stem is so satisfying for me. I did just have another go with the WPA in my Transformer Tubes bong with steel ice in the chamber, and it was very nice. Just that bongs have never really been my thing, and the E-nano/D020-D combo is better for the rare occasions I want water.
But hell, when I combusted I was primarily a metal pipe smoker, despite having probably six glass spoons and two bongs, so take that as you will. I sometimes feel like I might as well be a fan of Nickelback or something. I did convert my favorite metal pipe (bought over 18 years ago) into a VaporGenie, and that's awesome to use sometimes, for old times' sake.
there's a screw you can easily take off, the hole would be the carb
Two things:This thread keeps on staying low and it's such a shame!!
To the point now. I recently had to re-open the flower cap (unscrew it etc) in order to clean the inside since it got some minor crystals and probably tiny bits of herb in it due to an unfortunate exhale of mine while I was on the bubbler mouthpiece....
To my disappointment I saw that one of my lotus screws does not fits well anymore and it turns like mad. So I'm with a 2-screw cap on now... Doesn't really make a difference when vaping but I can hear minor sounds when the plate gets heated up. Do you guys reckon this will damage my lotus in the long run?
What do you recommend for the 3rd screw? Should I try getting just a bit thicker screw or shall I try moving the plate by half-turn and screw it to different holes?
[So after more than two weeks using the Lotus I can safely say that I have not yet seen the light at the end of the learning curve tunnel. I have had a few bowls in which I manage to vape perfectly; but way more often than not I end up overdoing it; and get almost smokey tasting vapour or charring the herb. In comparison I learnt to use the MFLB in a day.
The lotus is clearly a great bit of kit that one must take the time to master before knocking it; BUT! I vape for health reasons and my health does not have the time to be half combusting all the time. So for now this beautiful Lotus will be sidelined until I work out how to escape this catch 22 situation.
Edit: Any advice is welcome. I try and keep the flame as high as possible. I try and do it in short bursts. But I just can't keep the consistency.
The LOTUS has the best WPA ever made!It is like driving a manual transmission, and I am damn good at it.
The only time I ever combust is if I don't clean my screen for too long and it slows airflow too much. Clean screens and equipment are critical for consistency.
Not everyone can handle a racing car and Lotus is a freaking hot race car! Once you get the hold of it though...It is like driving a manual transmission, and I am damn good at it.

Thanks mate I know, I was just annoyed the exchange rate put the lotus out of my reach for a while, it looks a bit fun & I think I'd enjoy it. I haven't made a glass or vape purchase for a while & I'm getting itchy feet. No disposable income right now. I know what I want I'm happy to wait, or make the wife work harder am I right

I must bid this thread goodbye!
My much loved Lotus has been retired and if i can bear parting with her, she will show up in the classifieds here.
I have never been able to get perfect results all the time, very good but definitely not consistent.
Almost always have some green specks in the ABV.
My new Supreme 3 has taken over as my butane vape of choice all the time!
I still bust the Lotus out a few times a week, that flavor...
Two things:
1) Follow the advice earlier in the thread and put a screen inside the cap. Takes some time to get it in there right, but after that, smooth sailing.
2) To fix your screw threading, how about this?

It should only take a VERY tiny piece (you can cut it with scissors). I've used this stuff for years and swear by it.

This is funny, I have had the Lotus for over a year and I admittedly don't use it ALL that much, but its chiefly because I have been unable to really perfect my technique as well. I always get different results, 9/10 have a little char because by god I'm not going to undervape it! Lol. Sometimes I open it up and it looks relatively vaped, and I think I can get another hit and that is usually the one that chars me.
To be 100% honest though, I don't mind the taste of a little char. I could easily not get it, if I took the time to really master it, but I have fun kinda throwing the weed in the Lotus and just letting it ride out! It's never disappointing, but some sessions are definitely better than others. I think quality of product too may have been an issue at the time....I have been using it a bit more recently, but it is by far my least used vape in my arsenal, but I would like to change it! It is quite fun to use, maybe I can get the technique down perfect....
All said, I don't think it's the Lotus's fault I get inconsistent results. I kind of have the same problem with the Vapman, and to a lesser degree the Hammer. I actually like the Vapcap most of all my butanes because it has the audible click that lets you know you're at temp...only combusted once, and that's cause I heated up past the click!

Your experience is exactly how I would describe mine. I know that some people may like darker ABV than others. And maybe that is why others here do not report the same problems as us. I am used to vapour created from temps below 190c and I personally am going for a light to medium brown ABV. Nothing close to dark brown or black. I haven't yet tried any more herbs in the Lotus for fear of waste and charred vapour, but I have been using it regularly with a decent sticky hash.[

I took the advice from the kind people here of going for the quick heat up time. I pretty much use my Lotus like a Vapman. I heat until the plate it red hot, then as soon (or before) as I take a draw I take the flame away. Since I started doing this I have had much more controllable vapour. Less charring and chokey. I'm happy with this unit for hash. I prefer it to using my Mighty. It tastes better, and overall it is easier as there is only one screen to clean (rather than an extra liquid pad). Its the only unit that I can use hash easily and regularly without hassle.
I'm not surprised@voodoo_vape

I'm not completely positive it will fit, but I have used it in some tiny screw holes. Just need to cut a really thin piece and put it down only one side of the hole (the screw should bite into it and into the wood on the other side. Or hell, you might be able to do the same thing with a tiny sliver of coke can or something, since you're probably gonna have to cut it too thin to get much benefit from the "teeth" you speak of anyway.@Eyedunno do you reckon that these little "teeth" will fit in the lotus hole? Isn't it too small for it. Anyway, I will see if I can get hold of any and try it out. In case I see a lot of pressure/resistance applied I won't use it at all.
I threw a lot of COLAS away of CANNABIS (GSC so no big issue) 5.75OZ
