Hey Ed the dealer told me to expect hairline checks..Alan has concerns because of those deep eyes. But if anyone can, Man, Alan Can;)

Sad to see the whole Zap thing but i will have a piece of Zap to cherish when youre package arrives and the best part is I can use those stems with Alans Hi saber. It will feel like a tribute to the zap crew using them.thanks for looking after Us Ed.and when you get a chance,I m sure theres maybe one or two here that wants to check out your e new His:p

about using he Hi Ed as far as direct draw.take youre first hit horizontally so your e material glues to the inside of the stem and then just play away.I find it hard to combust on DD.Using a waterpiece will create more heat.but that there episode requires a fella from way back, a fella that goes by the name of... the big booblowski, His Boobness or the boobs may be able to help you there, darned interestin' fella all the same:D

It's funny how my complete ineptitude at using that short gong stem with my bubbler has driven me back to the normal tube where I initally fell in love with this vape! The airflow is just sick!

Haha, we had the same idea Bwade, I ordered a Amboyna Burl CRZ stem myself this morning :D

I hope it doesn't perform to different from the CRZ shorty stem I use now, I wish I'd gotten more of those when I had the chance. But well, who knew :(

Thanks for the tip about the sleeve/adapter btw mom, I just asked Ed for one of those too

stickstones - Pain is so close to pleasure. The higher temps come at a price some times. The HI must be treated a bit differently than traditional log vapes. Start the roast on high air flow. The speed can be reduced towards the end of the roast to get higher temps as needed.

panasonic - Thanks for the interest. Thanks for the info mom.

JDSupeme - Welcome aboard. I have you on the list.

Vapinghole - That is an excellent technique. I do that as well. It doesn't take very long before I'm pulling the tube away with a high air flow. So much different than my first TT core.

al bundy - Thanks. We will find something that you will like.

u bwade wunner - That wood looks similar to what I got. The eyes are much more open and deeper. The issue with making tubes from it is finding a straight piece long enough without cracks. There is no strength at the crack. Any roasting tube that fit into the CRZ will fit into the HI.
The HI is unique in that it will accept roasting tubes on the inside of the center tube as well as roasting tubes on the outside of the center tube. This offers a lot of roasting flexibility. Will be sure to get you stocked up on plenty of roasting tubes.

mom - The techniques for roasting with log vapes has definitely changed in the last year. The HI gives you many different ways to roast. Sometimes I'm in the mood for a slow tasty roast. Most of the time it is fast delivery. Always fun to practice and learn new techniques.

Ed - Glad to hear they arrived safely. Start with your roasting tubes about half full so you have plenty of room to stir and get good air flow. Start with a high air flow rate or allow some room air to mix in the beginning of the roast. If it starts pulling hard, stop and stir. Keep the tube and HI horizontal while using. Imagine it like a car cigarette lighter. I only connect the roasting tube to the HI when I'm drawing air through it. This keeps the herb from prematurely roasting.

OhTheAgony - Nice that you can use other roasting tubes with the HI. Great to have variety.

I think you nailed it here. I realized after I loved the SS tube that I am still using the old thinking. I want brainless and easy, but that limits the things I love most about the HI!

Good tip on starting out fast and slowing down...I will do that.

can i stick my male joint in there?
Pls anyone out there tell me what I need to do for my first session!

first off congrats on those awesome HI's Ed. those are some amazing looking pieces. if your just starting off, i recommend starting at around 11.8v or alittle lower. i like to pack 1/3 of the bowl, then hold the tube horizontal in my mouth then bring the HI up to meet it. take a long slow pull then exhale, if your still standing take another hit. enjoy!!!:D

Holy shit these really are things of beauty!!! I cant get over how small they are, very handy and fits well in the hand. Had to show em off to my wife, she was just as surprised as I. Right now just have it plugged up bout mid temp on the vvps, just letting it warm. Is it cool to leave it on all the time? Should i treat it like a CRZ? Spending some time with the family now, just got home from three days in Vegas, need to do some catching up. Had a great trip might be doing some calaboration with some new devices. Cant eait to try these babies and thank you so much again Alan! Anxious to tell you my positive experiences!

I brought the piece of wood to my computer and compared it. It is definitely the same piece of wood but I did not recognize it. The wood in the photo looked like it was waxed and the wood I have has none. The photo must have been soon after harvesting. The eye fissures have opened up now as the wood dries. The wood has a light pink color to it now. It will darken with the application of beeswax. The real challenge will be figuring out the best way to cut up the wood to get the most useable pieces from it.

Ed - Glad you like your new HI sabers. They are very tiny. I leave mine plugged in all the time so it is always ready to go. I like to hit it tube as fast as it will allow. Have fun finding the best way for you to use your HI. Sounds like you had a great trip.

Hey Allan am I remembering correctly that if you don't add the right angled adapter to the high you can make the unit slightly shorter?

If the HI can handle being rested on its side I could love the adapter to just plug straight into the bottom!

Wow, by the third stem I was getting nice clouds! I did long slow draws and had great success. I am still mesmerized by all the eyes and the spalting. Its a trip how on one side you see the red heartwood burl eyes and you would never know the other side has the creamy sap wood spalting and blue green tones with wild yellow eyes. Pics will be coming tomorrow hopefully. Am gonna spend the day in the shop working wood and getting to know my HI's!

The HI is 3.875" tall with the right angled adapter.
The original without the right angle adapter is 3.5" tall.
I could make one 2.75" tall if were to always lay on its side which should be alright. The very first one I made was 2.75" tall from quilted maple. I made a base for it from black locust wood so that it can stand up.

Ed - Glad you are enjoying the HI's. That afzelia is so sweet. Hope you are getting a chance to try all the different tubes.

X24 - You will advance to HIer education (thanks mom) with the HI. Send me an email and I will get you on the list.

I would be bloody ecstatic for this right here (updated core, of course). Walnut has ALWAYS been a favorite of mine.

that one there is the original with the moulded right angled plug adapter I think!

What about orestes mahoe top.blew me right outta the tent.

Have you had a chance to read the thread Big daddy? Its a fest, packed with Hi porn galore!

I'm trying to get through it. Just when I'm online I'm typically shooting the @#$% with everyone. Then I figured I'd do it in baby steps, but you jerks keep making the thread longer, I'm losing ground. Though I did give Alan quite a few likes, early on in the thread. :D

Yeah, that is freakin' gorgeous wood.

Good morning, show and tell time! Really had some great experiences with this unit! Am getting it figured out with the solid glass roasting tube. Havent had time to really try the others yet but their time is coming. I am learning to have a nice grind, load the stem bout half way or more, hit it nice and slow, then cough and hack! Stir it slightly and then hit again, cough and hack, then do it all over again! I am still mesmerized by the eyes and colors in this piece! Its the shit!

This pic makes it look I have some big monstrous hands but this unit is so small!
