Hello everyone,
The first hit at 12v I take is perfect, toasting everything to a coffee brown. I then find I need to wait for it to heat back up to get the same temperature. Is this common to have to wait between hits to achieve same temp?
I have been using the SSV and LSV for years, which are quite powerful, so it's possible I am just adjusting
It's a maple HI with SS heater cover, wood bottom cap, and a bit of burl on the side. I'm so impressed by the workmanship and functionality!Yeah there's a cool down period for both of my logs. I adapted to it differently. I have mine turned up a little so that the first bowl in a ss tip would be too hot, but the next bowl would be perfect. Before I use it the first time in a session, I blow into the core and then take my first hit. Anyway, I don't really think about it anymore cause it's second nature now. So yeah I look at it like it's the first hit that's too hot and the rest are normal. I chain bowls back to back to back sometimes. But then I'm ripped. It's like having a fresh bowl for each rip from the vape.
What beauty you have there @Raskin666 I love the looks of it. What's the texture like?
Is that the voltage regular that it comes with? There are no pictures on the site.Big thanks to @Alan for my beautiful new HI and microcontroller. I have been using it with the 14mm GonG tube in a bong, and it is superb.
I have been using an SSV and LSV for about 5 years, and this is my first log style vaporizer. I have always used @DDave mods on both to get small and efficient loads, so the load size of the HI I love.
At 12 volts I found it best to wait 30 seconds between hits in order to keep it hot enough to get me the coffee brown ABV I prefer. The flavor is incredible, especially if you dial it down to 11.7v or 11.8v.
I amazed by the simplicity and craftsmanship of the HI, and am more than pleased. Alan has also been extremely helpful and kind, even since a couple years ago when i purchased tubes from him for my LSV.
Thanks!!
Yes, it is the microcontroller that Alan makes, but doesn't come with the HI by default, you have to request it additionally. Is that the voltage regular that it comes with? There are no pictures on the site.

@ilovebOObs - So good to see you again bOObs! Hope you can stop by more often. I'm still making fine wooden vaporizers. Adding more options all the time.
Here is my latest creation. It is a glass aromatherapy cup.
I created it to be able to work on the glass heater cover HI's. It is basically a Universal tube that has a 10mm test tube rather than a roasting tube. It slides over the heater cover and the bottom of the test tube rests on the heater cover (glass or ss). Just place a tiny amount of essential oil into the test tube before installing on the HI. The silicone sleeves hold the test tube in place and also allow it to be removed when hot. Blowing air across the top of the test tube will increase the rate at which the scent is released.
The cost is $13.
Realized I've had my HI for a year and a half now. Ironically that's exactly how long I was on the list waiting to have it produced for me. Yet somehow that year and a half of ownership went by much much faster than the year and a half of waiting. Go figure!
Anyway, just wanted to say hi to my Jed-HI friends out there and of course the Master himself Alan. My HI brings me joy and relief every single day. Heck, I still love looking at it. If you're considering getting on the list, it is well worth any wait time you may encounter.
