The HI

They got so high with it that first multiple people managed to drool down my glass mounted roasting tube...

If the glass roasting tube has been used enough to line the insides with honey, and then you use that roasting tube long enough to get the glass really hot the honey becomes liquid. I once thought I had inexplicably drooled into mine at first before realizing what really happened.

I'm pretty aquainted with the glass tubes. This was drool. It ruined the bowl, got the weed wet and coated the inside with saliva. I had to toss the bowl and wash it out.

Dr. Plutonious,
Ordered a vk, now I need a wpa or a roasting tube.. or both. I'm using a super ghetto setup since I broke my gong, but I can't decide what to get. What are your favorite adapters and tubes guys?

Is the newest/best wpa a cork one? Or is that just a cork stem that happens to work as a wpa? I didn't care for the gong adapter, I don't want another one of those and I like the idea of using some cotton filtration.

I am messaging Alan, but I wanted some other opinions too.

Thanks

how many hits can you get off of, say, .10 - .15? im looking for a log vape because i want the efficiency, and i like the form factor and price of this better than the Epic Vape but i haven't heard anyone mentioning exactly how much it conserves. will this conserve more than my EQ and more than the epicvape?

All log vapes are efficient, with some a little more so than others. But if your going for the ultimate hypermiling vaporizer, then a PD w/ VVPS still reigns supreme imo.

HI and Nano are both top of the heap (for logs that is) performance wise...

I got in touch with Alan, I am ordering a new heater core, a heater core replacement tool, & a wine cork tube tapered to 18mm.

Already ordered a VK.

I am strongly considering one of the several bubblers from the Cheap, high-quality bubbler thread.

Kinda stuck between the GB-187 and the D020-T.

Which of these do you guys think would pair better with the HI? I know it's prolly a complete toss up, but you guys would know any potential differences much better than me!

P.S. Here are a couple of pictures Alan shared with me of the Wine Cork Tubes.. Aren't these just brilliant guys?

Here is one of my several awesome DIY steamrollers. I converted this one from combustion to vapor using my broken gong piece. Does a much better job insulating the heat from my hands than my sherlock.

I've been using my 187 all week and I really love it. The HI pairs nicely with it and the HI-187 combo has been my nightly routine all week. Highly recommended.

Barring the EVO and the Herbalizer (and maybe the Sublimator), logs are generally regarded as some of the most, if not the most, efficient vapes on the market. Even the high end vapes I mentioned aren't really any more conservative than a log.

When you pair a VVPS with any log vape, I find that they all conserve pretty similarly. I've always thought the HI had the best build quality of the logs I've seen though. Plus Alan's use of exotic woods is just sick.

Mine is made of Ebony and the thing is a tank.

EDIT: I should also mention the HI has the power to vapour bong like a vape twice it's price. When paired with a VVPS, it's the most well rounded vape I've ever owned.

Hey everyone.

In what was truly a sad day yesterday, my UD wall-wart and my VXC died. As such, the HI is once again my primary vape for use at home. Unfortunately, I now have to face the fact that I have never gotten the desired thickness of hits from this beautiful piece.

I have a few questions... Are most people using a VVPS, or is the general consensus that the vape is hot enough with the standard wall-wart? I find that the plug doesn't sit very snug in the vaporizer itself, could this be contributing to the problems I am having? Is there a technique video someone could point me to? Having used a PD, Woodeez, and a UD, I figured I knew a little about log vapes... Sorry for the newb questions!

I use the same wall wart for both my UD and HI, so I'm confused when you say that your UD one died, but you still have a standard wall wart for the HI. Are yours not interchangeable?

The HI is MORE than hot enough with the standard plug. The vvps is used to decrease the voltage and thereby "taming" the power that the HI possesses for more control of the hit.

Or am I missing something?

My best plan to hold me over was the Grasshopper but it never came out. Not sure what's going on with that one.

Well, guys, I didn't handle it well.

I got a bunch of glass and some other vapes while I was waiting :p

9 months is getting close though! Not much longer now. And the quality of the HI is very much worth the wait.
it takes 9 months for one of these..oh wow. I got on the list in December damn.

You could need a new heater core or plug.. I'm experiencing a similar issue with it not getting hot enough. I have a new heater core in the mail.. I will let you know if it solves my problems when it shows up tomorrow.

The wait for the HI is certainly tough, but it may give you the option of features not previously available. I know I'm glad I waited as long as I did because it enabled me to get the glass heater cover, which I fucking love.

Long-term gratification is the shit.

By the time your name comes up on the list, I wouldn't be surprised if Alan has a new option or two...

I know that I'll probably never buy a log vape from anyone else at this point. No offense to the other logs, they're great and I'd happily use any of them. But I would only buy another HI or TT.

IMO, there is no vaporizer that can match the combination of natural beauty and design of the Heat Island, whatever that vape's cost may be. But, much like The Matrix... you have to see it for yourself. :ko:

Dude...

I traded a friggin' first gen SG Mini King for one!

Would I do it again?? No. But I was mad crazy to own one at the time!!

Open and look at the bottom of your HI from the bottom. Is the heating element (resistor) soldered directly to the power receptacle or does it go to two stabilizing screws on the underside of the HI before going to the power receptacle?

If it is the two screws you should contact Alan about getting that upgraded. When one of the screws stripped and became loose, the wire connection became loose in my HI and the heat level plummeted.
