The Herbalizer

Anyway...

I've been stepping my temps at 25F increments from 370 to Max as of late. I used to start lower, but sessions were a lot longer and/or the bags at higher temps were mostly hot air. That and my tolerance being pretty high, I like the "in your face" (really, it's more between the temples, right behind the eyes) wallop the higher temps pack. I usually get about 4 bags of dense vapor from ~0.2g before production drops off and dump it into my abv stash for edibles.

I've also started running my (Max temp) bags through my bubbler.

It goes:
Herbie oven+"gasket" -> 14/18 reducer --> 18F/14F -> 14 whip adapter -> Herbie valve+bag

I've been meaning to get a short mouthpiece to plug into the 18F/14F adapter but for the time being I'm just hitting off the 18F end (or dropping it on the bubbler towards the end of the session). Save for flying solo or sharing a sesh in bed with the wife, I like the freedom and mobility/passability. I hate being tethered to the machine by a whip.

I am late to the party on the Herbalizer and have been reading through the thread nightly for a few weeks.
From the rave reviews previously posted I was motivated and purchased a Herbie last week. To my joy it arrived yesterday and the ceremonial unboxing ensued. I was up and operating in less than five minutes from opening the shipping box. My expectations have been met and I am very happy after three bowls at different settings and combos of bags and the whip.
The flavor was excellent and the vapor so smooth it was way to easy to take massive hits.
I am a fan and hope the issues with the company get sorted out as the product is a winner!
Special thanks to Josh and his team for bringing this product to the market and for all those FC members who had selfishly medicated in the name of science and testing!

So I've always kind of wondered, but how much think vape are you guys getting just out-of-the-box? I'm wondering if my unit needs service because I only seem to get really thick vape on the first full fan cycle at a very high temp. I wonder if people perhaps have video/pictures of how much material they are using, temperatures and vape quantity in a bag?

How long do you guys use your bags before you throw them out?

I've been using the same bag since I got my Herbie last June.

Almost there...
With all this uncertainty and mass pandemonium going on the last few pages, I felt that I should break out Herbie again!

My sleek silver pod has taken a back seat for many months, safely tucked away in her box it living with @biohacker .

Not quite sure which new, shiny toy bumped her but it was a dumb move on my part...

I love all my vapes and need to sort out a proper rotation, so they all get some love!

Loaded up a bowl of freshly ground Lemon Kush, not very lemony but packs a mule like punch!

Started at 190, small light clouds that were tasty.
Up to 210 and now the action starts! Nice big clouds and pretty decent taste!

Since we are going up, bump to 229 and take some rips! Great, dense clouds and the taste was not bad!

I only took a few hits at each temp and when opening the bowl, the bud was still nice and green!

I am very medicated at this moment but very clear thoughts. Major body stone!!

Going to spend a lot more time getting to know Herbie again!
I have missed her!

Which Vape do you prefer over your Herbie? I am curious because my herbie is my fav and I can't imagine a better Vape for me other than herbalizer 2.0.

I think i have some crow genes in me!
Something new and shiny quickly takes precedence... Not sure why.
I call this problem "First World Problems"!
For quite a while my EVO took over, then my Herbalaire, then my AromaZap arrived...
You get the picture!
A few more were there helping as well!
Lately it has been my LSV, then the FireFly and the Volcano.

Every night i use my MiniVap and have to say it is my TOP vape!
It still has it's annoyances but it is a beast and tastes soooo good!!!

TBH one session with Herbie a few hours ago still has me set!

Interesting. I find that the Herbalizer has been the most effortless to use and keep clean. I can get in and out the quickest and that is pretty important to me.

Using the tiny bit of information we have, IMO it was a hostile takeover. I also think that if they were planning on shutting the doors, they would just remain quiet, instead of responding to questions about their future.

However, I also think its naive to assume they can't get away doing something morally (or even legally in some cases) wrong to pay back debt. How do you know for sure they haven't said, lets grow this company for 2 months, if it proves to not be profitable within that time, then we can no longer keep the company solvent? If they said this, then how is what they are doing false advertising? They just aren't giving you insider information. From a legal aspect, you'd have a pretty tall moutain to climb to prove they always intended to shutter the company and the initial attempt at rescuing the company was just a ruse to collect more money.

I used to trade penny stocks. Pump and dump is the name of the game. You create a company, create some hype to raise the stock price and you've created additional capital. Rinse and repeat. There is nothing illegal about that. Typically whats done with that capital is what gets companies in trouble. Many of these lightly/non regulated stocks are violating some SEC code, but you won't see a lot of business execs doing time over it. If you made enough money, the legal process is just one of the costs of doing business.

As the previous gentleman said, incorporating protects your personal FINANCES from being effected by the poor financial decisions of your business. If there was an illegal act regarding federal or state law, that would be up to a prosecutor to decide its worth tax payer money to prosecute, and a class action lawsuit is laughable in this situation.

Hypothetical: Lets just say you threatened legal action concerning a popular (by fellow vapor enthusiasts) company selling you a broken vaporizor and then they couldn't/didn't honor its warranty. They could tell you the original company no longer exists, and a new one was created with the same name, by the same people. The old company is broke and any money it has will go to servicing its debt holders well before that money goes to you, and the new company technically has no involvement. After that, if you wanted to post about your dealings on a public vaporizor forum, you would most likely get buried by the fanboys and then you'd be tiptoeing a very wide line of "attacking" a product or company.

Regarding Herbalizer, I don't know whats going on, but my guard would be up whether I trusted @Engineer or not. They aren't privately owned by some idealistic visionary. They are in the business of making money, with the backing of lawyers and insurance. In my personal opinion, this should come down to what someone is ok with losing financially. I know what I'm ok with losing financially, and the current cost of premium vapes isn't one of them. If the company is looking shaky, make sure you are ok with throwing that money away. No forum, moral compass, or legal threat is going to get your money back. Trust me.

Apologies to anyone offended for my inability to blindly go along and believe all that I read here on FC...
and @Engineer you are a personal friend, and I look up to you a great deal.
BUT--->
Local rumor has it that it will be business as usual, and that all the bankruptcy B.S. is merely a guise that some less than scrupulous individuals cooked up to get their way.
(measuring dicks!)
From all that I understand (and I will NOT expound), business.... growth/developement... and WARRANTY will go on as it has. New units will be produced also.
People within the company will be affected... for sure. Some will lose their desks, and some their shares.
Everyone wants to have the biggest slice of the pie.
Personality conflicts, lawyers, egos, payoffs... and bridges burned.
All this money would not be being offered and spent unless someone
believes (whether delusional or not) that Herbalizer would continue.
Perhaps some of you out there without stakes to lose/gain, or sentimental ties will join me in willing this "local rumor" to be true.

EDIT:I like Josh a bunch and am saddened by how this went down.
The fact that I believe the company will make it does not imply that I hold any respect for those that have allowed themselves to be swept up in the manipulations of corporate legality to buy souls.

Thank you Vitolo, you’ve found out more through rumor than shareholders have through all the possible legal means. Your findings, and the findings of Vicki (#6054), should be extremely reassuring for everyone here with an investment in Herbalizer.

I haven't visited FC for quite a while, but have caught up from Josh's (@Engineer) post on page 241. I'm somewhat surprised by how much Josh shared, even providing a letter from the attorney and the legal notice about the assignment of assets. He only provided the facts and a warning with information to facilitate your personal decisions. That doesn’t leave much to the imagination, but as Josh stated, he feels it's important to inform this community about the future uncertainty of the product, warranties, and the company.

There's a lot of discussion about both sides of the story, but there's really very little to add to Josh’s side, the other side is best described here by Vitolo as “less than scrupulous individuals cooked up to get their way”. Vitolo and Vicki, please keep your ear to the ground and keep us informed.

It should be clear that Josh has been forthcoming, making no false claims; though I suspect there are a few here in the tank for the other side. That said, I can tell you that Josh has only revealed the truth as he knows it, and you can take that to the bank.

Thanks for the support.

ScientifiK, that's an excellent start with very little information and you are correct; albeit you went down a couple rat holes. There are only a finite number of possibilities for a hostile takeover within the confines of California law and it would be interesting to hear a slightly different scenario.

You can let your guard down and trust Josh, he only wants to support the product and the customers, not the company. Yes, the company is in the business of making money with the backing of lawyers, but on his departure Josh shared with me his perspective about what he was leaving behind, saying that if you sleep with dogs you're going to catch fleas. For him now, those barking dogs are a thing of the past and you can be assured that what he tells you is for your benefit. Last point, Clovershield is the name of company for the Herbalizer and it is a private company with private investors, started and very much owned by an idealistic visionary until Josh's departure.

Thank you for taking the time to speculate as I'm sure your ideas provide some clarity for Herbalizer fans trying to figure out where this transfer of assets, leaving behind a shell company, is going.

One thing to mention I noticed: when all of this first started, the Herbalizer.com store started looking a bit...thin. I'm not saying if an accessory sells out that means they're clearly doomed, but if they aren't re-stocked in a reasonable amount of time, then I'd say means either a) they suck at their jobs b) they're not re-stocking for a reason.

That being said, they did fully re-stock and Carrie told me "we are not planning to make changes to our bags anytime in the foreseeable future. We are always examining ways to improve the overall experience of the Herbalizer, but nothing specific is set in place as of now. We will update the Herbie community if anything were to change in the future." (I asked if they plan on new versions of accessories like the bag anytime soon, because the last thing I wanted to do was load up on a crappier version of an accessory because I thought it was get them now or never). Granted, accessory inventory has nothing to do with warranty support, but if you're in business enough to replenish new stock, you're not going to screw over existing customers with warranties.

tl,dr version;

Herbalizer is re-filling accessory inventory, which is a sign it is business as usual over at Herbalizer.

I just placed an order for a 24 pack of bowl screens and one replacement bowl grips for my Herbie bowl. Shipping was only $3.00, so I imagine they will just be dropped in the mail. That probably being the case, and usps's reputation, it's hard to say when I will receive my order. I did notice that everything was in stock when I placed my order today.

Vicki,
Wow, sucks to hear what's been going on with the Company. Hopefully we get some clarity soon. All the more reason to be super gentle with my unit. It hasn't missed a beat yet.

I haven't purchased additional OEM accessories yet, and I don't plan on it. They're overpriced and whip tubing from Amazon works great. That's the only component I've replaced. Everything else just gets an ISO soak every few months. I don't know if I'll ever touch the bags again.

The Herb chamber is definitely overpriced in my opinion. I wanted to have a second one but it just isn't feasible at the price they ask.

@stickstones Haven't seen you for a bit here man, have you gotten around to experimenting with the Haze convection screens yet? I am interested to know if you were able to incorporate it at all into your whole nug technique and if it is helping your topscreen stay clean.

I picked up a vaporizer adapter piece to drop into my D020. It fits with my SSV tubing and really prevents the tubing from kinking. However, it doesn't fit just right and I am losing alot of vapor where the piece drops down. However, I've made contact with the Glass Blower and he is working with me on a solution. Class act guy and I think he'll help me find an ideal solution.

Hopefully one step closer to that elusive fog that I've been after with Herbie.

My many thanks to fuckcombustion for all of the suggestions over the years!
Because I cough way to much using dense cloudy vapor, the Herbalizer is perfect for me. I usually start around 360* for the first of the bag, then up to 380*,then 400*, then finishing at about 428*.
I load the bowl about halfway with ground bud without tamping it down. I stir & brush off the top screen between temperature changes. After reading this thread since its beginning I got one in March. Just as a side note the Santa Cruz Grinder that came with it is simply the absolute best grinder I've ever used. I have a box full of free and purchased grinders. A hand crank Sharpstone was my go to, but the uniform fluffy bud from my SCG rocks! I haven't used bags since my Volcano days. I started using my Herbie with the whip but when I tried the bag..Whooa! The nearly immediate heat up time did it for me! The smaller tapered bags on eBay were a buck a piece, adding them to the Herbie mouth piece is really easy. Props to the guy that added a video on changing bags, that was a big help. Ive also found that after a time the bag gets really sticky at the mouth piece and leaks and harder drawing begin. If I remembered to mount the mouth piece at the very end of the bag I can maneuver more of the bag thru the mouth piece and mount it with a less sticky part of the bag. Sometimes when I find it a bit difficult to draw I wet a round blunt pencil putting it thru the mouth piece into the bag then ream it around, easy draw till next time. I can usually see some tiny whisps of vapor escaping the mouth piece but my finger covers it so no biggy.
I clean the screens with the included brush often. When its time to really clean them I remove the rubbers and soak everything else in a pill bottle half filled with Iso and shake it a few times for around five minutes. Presto Chango!! The screens really do look pristine. One final thought, a shortened Slurpee straw is a perfect little scoop to move bud to the fill chamber and nestle everything down. Final thought? OK one more, for the high CBD peeps, check out Treasure Island! 0.87% THC & 17.87% CBD tested by 3B analytical. I tried some last night and found the pain masking so smooth and comforting.

The Herbalizer bowls wholesale for around $28.95, maybe $30.00ish, so there is significant markup to be had on the those.

I used it yesterday with ground herb and it worked nicely. Obviously the top screen stayed clean, but so did the Haze screen. After comparison, the haze screen has a coarser mesh on it, so that's probably why it is not getting gunked up. If I use an extra screen again it will probably be a normal one just on top of the load because I like to keep my Haze screens in their shape! Thanks for the tip!

So this is a very broad question: what are you using with your Herbie that isn't a stock part and why?

This community is so interesting. A ton of hobbyists that really know their stuff and I'd certainly like to learn/improve my experience!

Hello all. I bought my Herbalizer on Friday the 18th of April simply because I visited the site and saw the 420 sale. Did a ton of research (here too) before choosing it. It was ranked elsewhere as being better than anything on the market. My device shipped out on 420 and arrived the following friday. Did not check this forum until yesterday...I came to sing my praises. And then I see all this news.

I've been through this before on the home audio scene. @Engineer is a genius. Not incorporating...not a sound business move. 2 different arenas...completely different types of motivation needed for success in each. The personalities do not mix; mandating a liaison. Making money is not for the faint of heart...especially when you're poised to be a go to for a raw industry that will generate lots and lots of money.

Nothing illegal happened...whoever owns the rights to the machine will go forward. Or, the tooling already exists...somebody with buy it and carry on. At worst, the technology will be repackaged.

If things do get stupid...electronics repair people should be able to help. Or, diy.

My review?

Perfect. It literally tells you...3 different experiences: 300, 350, 400. Not a gimmick.

Price of machine will be recouped in savings on product and combustible transports.

I have a herbal aire and a magic flight launchbox. I was spinning my wheels.

Classy...design is impeccable. I don't like plastic...but, this is a medical device. Way above head shop stoner/hippie type stuff. The water attachments look nice by the way. I know that's an entirely different level. See you there shortly.

Open to Questions.

I wouldn't worry at all about it, Vicki. I e-mailed them about ordering a replacement brush and getting new screens. They're sending me a brush for free.

Also, they said they have gotten enough complaints about the brush where they are re-designing it.

I agree. Should be closed on the bottom end to make a better stir tool at the least.
